PAKISTANI investigators have unearthed substantive links between the gunmen who attacked Mumbai in November and a banned Pakistani Islamist militant group.Ten gunmen killed 179 people in the attack on India's financial hub that India has blamed on the Pakistan-based Islamist group Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) group.
The group was set up by Pakistani security agencies in the late 1980s to fight Indian rule in the disputed Kashmir region but was banned in 2002, after Pakistan had signed up to the US-led campaign against terrorism.
The Wall Street Journal said at least one top LeT leader, Zarar Shah, captured in a raid early this month in Pakistani-controlled Kashmir, had confessed to the group's involvement in the attack.
"He is singing," an unidentified Pakistani security official told the newspaper, referring to Shah....
Pakistan has condemned the Mumbai attacks and has denied any state role, blaming "non-state actors".
What's new here. We have all along known this for years that Pakistan supports Islamic Jihadis and has allowed terrorist training camps within its borders for decades. The government of Pakistan and the people support Islamic Jihad and after all it is an Islamic country.
There is simply too much proof against these people. Indians still have Kasab. FBI has even decoded the thuraya satellite phone conversations.
Pakistan has to put Lakhvi behind Pakistani jail at least. If he is deported, he will tell about the obvious links between ISI and LeT. But so be it. At least there is some justice now.
The performance of Pakistani newspapers (like Dawn, Daily Times and The News) and most politicians (except Asma Jahangir) was really disappointing. They could not even confirm an obvious fact Kasab was a Pakistani. They lost all credibility. Instead of treating it as a simple law and order issue, they treated it like it was a jihad against India.
Zaid Hamid considers jihad against dar ul harb like India and Afghanistan to be valid but jihad against dar ul islam like Pakistan to be invalid. Really? Now who decides that Pakistan is not dar ul harb? Zaid Hamid or tehreek-e-taliban?

The general theme is about India's aggression (like 11/26 never happened), Hindu terror (like KSM was never from Pakistan, like Daniel Pearl was never slaughtered in Karachi). Then, there is a blanket assumption of Undia's hostility and Pakistan's peace initiative, even while fighter planes are flying low over key cities and soldiers are being moved to Eastern borders. When there is dead-air, the old line of "Where is the evidence" is repeated.
For those who follow Urdu, it is very informative and at times, entertaining.

Anyway, it will be interesting to see what Pakistan does from here. Will they say "We got the guy, problem solved," or do something more substantive in terms of preventing things like this in the future?
Their track record suggests they'll do the absolute minimum they can get away with to keep the outside pressure at a comfortable equilibrium that will allow them to preserve the status quo overall.

Anyone that knows the jihadi threat knows this to be true; It was Lakshar-e-Taiba. Anyone with an clear mind knows that ISI is the shadowy figure behind L-e-T. We all know at Jihadwatch what is going on.
