Possible Obama speech in "major Muslim city" leads to Muslim euphoria

Now that he's won the election, Obama apparently no longer needs fear associating with his childhood friends and kin: Muslims. "Obama report excites Muslims," by Gregg Krupa for the Detroit News, December 5:

Possible speech by president-elect gives boost to community that felt slighted during election.

Reports that President-elect Barack Obama will deliver a speech in a major Muslim city during his early months in office were greeted enthusiastically Thursday in Metro Detroit, among one of the largest Muslim populations in the country.

"I would be euphoric," said Chuck Khalil Alawan, one of the founders of the Islamic Center of America in Dearborn, the largest mosque in the country.

And one that supports terrorist organization Hizballah.
"If that in fact does happen, it would be a very significant occasion because the Islamic world, long before 9/11, has viewed the United States more as an antagonist than a friend.
Thanks primarily to Islamic theology, which declares non-Muslims "more as antagonists than friends."
"It also would be very brave of him, considering the response he would get from some," Alawan said.

The development was first reported by the New York Times, with the tongue-in-cheek assertion that if arrangements could not be made in Cairo or Riyadh, that Obama might select Dearborn.

"If that's really true, then I appreciate the sense of him going out of the way to get things back to normal," said Asim Khan, a member of the board of the Taweed Center in Farmington Hills. "An approach like this by President Obama would encourage peace-loving people to come forward and basically not let a few people, who the vast majority of Muslims criticize with the strongest possible language, take this religion hostage."

Muslims criticized Obama for failing to appear in their communities, as candidates had in previous presidential elections. But exit polls suggest he garnered a huge majority of Muslims' votes. Some said they understood that with extremists continually promoting the deception that Obama is Muslim, he was forced to handle some aspects of electoral politics by keeping their community at arm's length.

"We think Obama is [has?] an opportunity to set things right," said Imam Mohammad Ali Elahi, leader of the Islamic House of Wisdom in Dearborn Heights, who urged Obama to foster better relations with Iran, in particular. "That does not mean we should submit to terrorists like al-Qaida and those people who choose to be criminals and who commit crimes against Muslims and humanity, and who hijack the Islamic faith.

"But it does mean we can try to really correct some of the things that have been wrong in the last decade, which has brought war-mongering and problems that harm international relations," Elahi said.

"It is our American image, and anything we can do to advance it and contribute to a decrease in the anti-American sentiment that has been building over the last several years would be definitely a step in the right direction," said Imad Hamad, regional director of the American-Arab Anti-Discrimination Committee.

Improving "our American image," for this Muslim (and not surprisingly), seems to revolve around engaging in dhimmitude -- such as happily allowing a staunch existential enemy as theocratic Iran, in the name of "fairness," to develop nukes, though mere common sense indicates that such concessions would only lead to more disorder, possibly destruction.

"Imam Mohammad Ali Elahi, leader of the Islamic House of Wisdom in Dearborn Heights, who urged Obama to foster better relations with Iran, in particular."

Will Obama improve relations with Iran the way Jimmy Carter did? ;)

Will the speech be in Dearborn? London? Antwerp? They are major Islamic cities.

From article: "An approach like this by President Obama would encourage peace-loving people to come forward and basically not let a few people, who the vast majority of Muslims criticize with the strongest possible language, take this religion hostage."

So the vast number of 1.2 billion Mohammadans are using the strongest possible language to criticize a few people who have taken the religion hostage...

Uh huh...I think I can hear them from here...just crank the volume up a little so we all can hear it...

"Will Obama improve relations with Iran the way Jimmy Carter did? "

You bet he will...

Oh, rapture. Oh, joy. The One is going to make a major speech from a major Muslim City.

He's answering the call. Or, as Pamela Geller wrote, he got the memo.

I feel more at peace now.

Maybe they'll leave us alone, now that He's going to talk to us from their place to our place.

Maybe we can all unite in one happy family.

Maybe they'll not demand so much of us, now that He's going to repair our broken image in the Muslim World.

Maybe He can negotiate a truce and they'll stop firing misiles into Israel and not fly any more planes into our buildings.

Maybe they'll stop reading the Koran and the Hadithe and they'll just listen to Him reason with them.

Maybe I'm gonna go light a cigar now, wipe down my pump shotgun and re-read The Politically Incorrect Guide to Islam And The Crusades.

Help! I'm drowning in Mohammadan saliva!

Somebody explain to me just why Lord Barry is doing this.

Tehran would be an ideal place for his speech-the peaceniks in the US would be enthralled while the Iranians would drool over the prospect of jizya and being completely left alone to develop their nukes and engage in other wretched behavior. This would also cement the Great One's place in history as being the Nixon of his era (in diplomacy as well as in shadiness).

I appreciate the sense of him going out of the way to get things back to normal...

"Back to normal"--as in pre-9/11? "Back to normal"--as in not taking the Muslim threat seriously?

more:

"It also would be very brave of him, considering the response he would get from some," Alawan said.

Some--what? Some Muslims who would not appreciate the presence of an American in their country, even Barack Obama? Or some of his constituency, which might be a bit leery of Obama's pandering to the Muslim world?

"...the vast majority of Muslims criticize with the strongest possible language"--hmmm, I must have missed that.

Notice the *only* mention in the article about "extremists"--violent Jihadists, perhaps? Well, not so much...

That is one thing about Obama what annoy's me.
Where does he stand when it comes to Islam wanting to concur the world.
Is he going to do the same thing like the rest, being political correct and let them take over.
I do not want to live in an Islam nation.
Where do you go, they way it is going in the West.

The great usurper will save us all...

Back to normal?

Like before 9/11? Or before Africa's twin bombings? Or perhaps before the U.S.S. Cole attack? Or back to normal like the day of the first WTC bombing? Or...??

A "major Muslim city"?

Are we talking about America?

Since when are American cities described this way?

You would think that he would interested in winning American hearts and minds, but no, that would require behaving like a decent, non-seditious, patriotic American, and he is none of those things. Oh, for a leader that would tell the Muslim world to cannibalize in a hell of their own creation. Not even Bibi would do that. No, he writes 1000-page books placing the blame for Judeoophobia on the Spanish, when it is entirely Egyptian in origin.

Hugh in 2012! He would tell the Muslim world to go to hell and make it sound so good they would thank him.

WELL NOW!! What can I say to this? Of course they're drooling, that's what muslims do as the dogs they are! But-

I did NOT vote for Obama. Having lived and gotten so close to muslims, I KNEW what they would believe once Obama was elected. They are laughing at USA and saying to themselves, "See what we get for 9/11-a muslim president! What else can we get next?"

For it doesn't really matter whether Obama is muslim or not, he could be 1000pct Christian as he claims. In fact with Rahm's appointment the "muslim" president has inflamed the middle-easts sensibilities. What is the crux of the matter is that muslims believe once you're BORN to a muslim father, you are muslim no matter what! I have always said that Obama is the worst possible choice we could have for a president because the islamic side of the world will never believe he is Christian. And I CANNOT tolerate the idea of the islamic world snickering at my country. But what would the mass majority here know since they choose to keep their heads in the sands... In the sands and quagmire of "politically correct" and sniffing up the spoon fed media bullsh*t..

I am preparing for the worst here in the States. This is all just the beginning of worse things to come here. I truly wish it could be otherwise, but sadly I think not...

I hope Obama rethinks this. No matter where he goes or what he says, when it comes to matters related to Islam it is a no-win situation for him, and therefore for us. Better for him to remain at home and tend to business here.
