I'm Jewish and I keep Christmas lights up all over my apartment all year 'round. I like them. They're fun. But anything festive would probably jack with the Muslim belief that life isn't for living.

This is so sad--the UK, along with Germany and the US, created most of the modern Christmas. If I had to pick just one person responsible for the revival of Christmas, it would have to be author Charles Dickens. As well as creating one of the most beloved of all Christmas stories--A Christmas Carol--he was a tireless advocate for the holiday.

There is an organisation called Common Purpose which is bedevilling UK life. It was started by a fabian called Julia Middleton and many over here believe 'Common Purpose' is a euphemism for 'Communist Party'.
This organisation has infiltrated every public service and many people including myself, believe it has encouraged bullying in the workplace and in society generally, of the kind decribed in the article above.
It meets behind closed doors where meetings are not minuted and members names are unrecorded.

Read it all - there's lots in there that offers food for thought for those engaged in the defence against the Jihad and the resistance to the imposition of Sharia - but the chapter that stands out for me is the one entitled 'The Power of Context'. That chapter explained for me why, for example, the French ban on the wearing of the Muslim headscarf in schools was such a brilliant move - and why the Muslims threw such a tantrum when it was imposed.
Little things - really little things - do matter.

I have been giving this "might offend some in the community" type of comment some thought.
While I will grant you that there are certainly many cases of Muslims themselves saying they are offended by this or that item. It seems to me that the "you might offend others" is just a cover for "it offends me". In other words, secularists or atheists who themselves have a dislike for a particular outward religious cultural manifestation try to foist their personal dislike (where people would tell them to just stuff it) behind and acceptable multicultural smokescreen.

Here in Australia in the suburbs people go cruising around during Advent, in the evenings, to admire the Christmas lights with which people, and also in some cases churches and businesses, have decorated their premises. I don't know when it became a tradition - maybe we 'caught' it from the USA or from the UK or both, I don't recollect it being common practice when I was a child - but it seems to have done so.
Some people really go to town. Some of it's beautiful. Some of it is atrocious in-your-face over-the-top kitsch; never mind.
It's nice to know that every house and every business and every church, anywhere in the non-muslim lands today, that adorns itself for Christmas (or, for that matter, for Hanukkah) with lights or by other means, is proclaiming, even without knowing it, 'No dhimmis here'.
Rim - I think you do probably have a point - there would be those who are using the 'other religions [tr: Muslims] might be offended' argument as a handy excuse to cover their own agenda.

I live in Hebburn, a town within South Tyneside. The square in our town centre has an impressive (and tasteful) display of Christmas lights woven into the trees surrounding the square and ...get this...there's a Nativity scene.
The 'Switching On' ceremony is preceeded by a carol service of local schoolchildren every year.
Incidentally, all South Tyneside Council buildings fly the Cross of Saint George 365 days a year, as does our local Fire Station and Cop Shop. When England are in the World Cup or Euros just about every building is engulfed in them. (Sorry to dispel a few myths).
Anyway, my best mate is very high up in South Tyneside Homes and he hasn't a clue where this came from. It would appear the 'Official' who made this complaint has never been identified, indeed my mate believes it either didn't happen or it was some daft lad on a wind-up (you'd have to understand our humour up here).
There's a hell of a lot wrong with our country and our ESTABLISHMENT's obsession with multi-cult/diversity but this is shite, honestly. The last place on earth you'd get this nonsense is in the NE of England.
