Mama! I have arrived!

Thank you - those of you who nominated me - and even those that didn't.

Robert, you are a giant. I can't think of a bigger honor.

u da best.

Very tough this year. All outstanding lions, or smelly goats. None of my favorites are ahead, so I guess I'll just howl at the moon tonight.

None of the above. My vote would have to go to the American citizen Christopher Hitchens.

Woohoo! I voted for Mark Steyn - glad he's ahead.

I would have liked to see Ralph Peters on the list, though. Why don't you add him?

sanman:

As I explain here, I didn't pick the nominees. They were nominated by Jihad Watch readers:

http://www.jihadwatch.org/archives/023886.php

Ralph Peters received no nominations at all, so he is not on the ballot.

Mark Steyn is a US citizen?

To all anti-Dhimmi's out there, Oink if you've jihadit

Pamela Geller for American Anti-Dhimmi, 2008!

Honours to all! I only wish I could extend to each and every one a laurel, and hardy handshake for a job well done! Having said that, I'm gonna have to go with the Steyn.

All well-recorded applicants in the anti-jihad movement in Bostom, Steyn, Gabriel and Geller.

Bolton should be President, but that is a discussion for another time on another thread. Coughlin gets honorable mention for his words in the last year and due to the fact that he is not firmly ensconsed as a fixture in the aforementioned club.

That being said, I was unable to vote for anyone else but Pamela Geller this year for reasons far too numerous to mention.

Congrats Pamela, and a job well done!

By the way, the anti-Dhimmi award should henceforth be known as the "Hughie" or the "Fitzy", for he could easily contend each and every year of his life from this day on, and quite possibly, run the table.

Just saying, is all.

Well I didn't know that Mark Steyn was American either. I voted for Stephen Coughlin as I felt what he did and where he did it was extremely courageous.

My personal favourite is Ezra Levant but he's Canadian. Regardless this is a very worthy group mentioned here.

Not quite on topic, but an interesting article by Ashley Tellis on Pakistan's role in the Mumbai attacks, in YaleGlobal:

http://yaleglobal.yale.edu/display.article?id=11695

Worth a read.

Pamela

You need to win this. Come on Geller fans, we need to go on a jih... er crusade for Pam. After all, if it's good enough for Dems to do in the GOP primaries and leave us with McCain as a candidate, we should be able to swing this her way! ;-)

Vote often! Regardless of whether or not you've voted early!!!!

sanman,

If you haven't already done so by now, search Ralph Peters in the search window at this site. The answer as to why he wasn't nominated (by commenters) as an anti-dhimmi will become clear once you read the material, e.g., see "Ralph Peters flailing in a fog of confusion," September 8, 2006, for a start.

friends:

pamela geller. who else?

john jay

Saw that I just bumped Pam up from 21 to 22%. Who thought my vote didn't count? ;-)

New fatwa - vote Pam - coming your way :-)

Kinana is right - in fact, if I remember right, wasn't Peters a past Dhimmi award nominee?

So Kinana, who did you vote for?

IP,

They're all good, but I voted for Pamela, as I think her blog shows she's been incredibly hardworking and active. Steyn is also deservedly popular, but he won last year.

Steyn and Bolton are both past winners. Coughlan and Gabriele are good, but Pam's work both at the anti-Islamization conference as well as since (including at the Facing Jihad conference in Jerusalem) is what did it for me.

Damn! I'm going to have to think about this.

I mean that's a killer line up. Heroes every one!

Mark Steyn all the way to the top! He is among greats, but going to trial to save freedom of speech is a great benefit to all those who cherish freedom of speech in the WEst.

They all deserve to win. I voted for Coughlin because he had the most to lose and knew it, and he paid the price.

YES!! PAM GELLER IS MY CHOICE FOR AMERICAN ANTI DHIMMI OF THE YEAR!!

Wow! Some tough choices! But why wasn't Spencer's name included?

Because Spencer is the one giving the Awards!

All excellent choices. I still consider Mark Steyn to be American, though, and what did he do this year besides win his case in the Canadian "Human Rights" Court and write some hilarious columns? I love Mark Steyn. America Alone is one of my favorite books and his blog is awesome, but did he DO THIS YEAR? If you're going to vote for a journalist/columnist then Pam Gellar is a better choice for getting the truth out about Hussein Obama (Sammy Benoit, Michelle Makin, and Debbie Schussel all honorable mentions, for sure). If getting the truth out is your thing then you should go for Brigitte Gabriel, who started an anti-jihad lobby in addition to ACT and published 'They Must be Stopped' or for Andrew Bostom for 'The Legacy of Islamic Anti-Semitism' and his amazing blog, which I believe was the one that originally dispelled the "Benazir Bhutto was a great 'moderate'" myth.

Brigitte Gabriel, people!

Voted for Steyn, just to give him a bigger lead over the Geller woman.
It'll be a cold day in hell before I'll be voting for anyone who keeps insisting that in WW2 all Europeans were nazi collaborators: http://atlasshrugs2000.typepad.com/atlas_shrugs/2007/10/lgf-and-cair.html

Bummer, I wanted to vote for Canada as Dhimmi of the year

This ongoing defamation of decent people is unconscionable.

Do you really think that Pamela Geller was saying that everyone in Europe during World War II collaborated with the Nazis? To do so you have to ignore so much else of what she has written. See, for example, this:

RIGHTEOUS GENTILE, WHO SAVED THOUSANDS OF JEWISH CHILDREN, Dies

http://atlasshrugs2000.typepad.com/atlas_shrugs/2008/05/righteous-genti.html

Pamela's statement, "Who the hell wasn't a nazi collaborator in Europe? Puhleeeeeze," quite obviously refers to the manifest fact that collaboration with the Nazis was extensive in Nazi-occupied countries, and that after the war Nazi collaborators were found in mainstream political parties all over Europe -- parties that were not neo-Nazi. Cf., most notoriously, Waldheim and Mitterand.

You can take note of that, or you can continue to play "Gotcha" by pulling one sentence out of a body of work, ignoring all the rest, and trying to make something out of that single statement that isn't actually in it. I am very familiar with this tactic, as it has been done to me, and by the same people who are doing it to Pamela Geller.

It would be refreshing if while here at Jihad Watch you and others who have engaged in this tactic could adhere to a higher standard.

Well, I guess we interprete the line "Who the hell wasn't a nazi collaborator in Europe?" in different ways. To me, it is absolutely sickening and defiles the memory of my parents. No amount of mitigating nuance makes it any better.
You could be right that we adhere to different standards.
And this is all I have to say about this.

All good candidates!
Pamela gets my vote. My reason? The others receive renumeration for their efforts, and there's nothing wrong with that, but it takes a larger commitment to extend the efforts that Pamela does on one's own dime.

*3rd attempt to post*

Brigitte - She has been tireless in her efforts with ACT for America!

Kim Hartveld:

I stand by every point I made above. I am sick of this "Gotcha"-playing and defamation, and I know where it is coming from and what is motivating it, and I'm not going to let it go unanswered. More to come.

Kim Hartveld:

Pamela Geller has run afoul of our ongoing problems with TypePad, and has sent me this email:

I have attempted to post this 10 times (at least) keeps telling me to sign in

Thank you Robert so very much.

Talk about taking things out of context.... I have enormous respect and admiration for the Christians who stand with Israel. I love them and have made no secret of it; nor have I hidden my contempt for Jewicidals who may be Jewish but are our mortal enemy. My blog is proof of these very definite positions.

Clearly the poster is not an Atlas reader and is drinking the mendacious kool aid of a smear campaign. The comment is void of any knowledge of my work.

The comment that was recklessly pulled referred to the smear, the inference, at the time, that Vlaams Belang had people in their party who had long ago familial Nazi connections.

My point was if you look at any family tree in Europe, you would be hard pressed to find a family with no Nazi or Vichy etc connections (the persecuted notwithstanding).

It was a ridiculous premise to pin an indictment. Just as this pull quote is a ridiculous premise to base my position(s) on.

I, for one, will fight for Europe and will not dismiss folks who stand with Israel, who love Israel, who fight for Israel, based on rumor and innuendo - the poisonous fruit of which we are witnessing right here in this thread.

Yours in love and war,
Pamela Geller

Everyone on that list is deserving of honor and appreciation, but Brigitte Gabriel not only writes books and gives speeches, she has started a national grassroots organization to give ordinary, patriotic, anti-jihad Americans a voice in politics. Her goal is to hire a lobbyist so that politicians will be forced to listen to our concern, not just those of corporations wanting to do business in the Arab world, CAIR and other jihadist enablers and apologists and the Saudi mouthpieces.

Brigitte, Brigitte, Brigitte!!!

Can I change my vote? I voted Steyn before I realized he won last year .... I want Atlas!
That gal is one tenacious warrior, as proven yet again in this thread.
You go gal! I wanna fight by your side! Get me a pitchfork!

Everyone on the list is VERY deserving of honor.

Brigitte Gabriel's 50,000-member Act for America is going to hopefully stop Sharia financing and it's slippery slope from taking hold in the US--through grass roots activism, our only hope. I've gotta give it up for Brigitte.

Not to mention the serious risks to her own life and safety that she takes each day in order to speak out. Not to mention the atrocious childhood she endured at the hands of the Islamists. God bless Brigitte!

Well, voting was quite hard to do with those Americans, because as an European citizen I don“t know everyone. Pamela Geller made very brave thing with Robert Spencer by doing interview with Geert Wilders.
Thanks to everyone who risks their lifes and reputations by serving the truth.

I believe everyone on the list is a champion!
Pam you rock! Brigitte is one of the bravest woman I've ever known. Thank all of you for the fantastic work you do, no matter who comes in first, you are all winners in my book!

It's been a horrible year for me as far as voting goes. First Tancredo dropped out, then Romney and Giuliani lost to McCain, then Dems consolidated their power in Congress and now, even here, with like minded people, I can't even see Pamela winning an Anti-Dhimmi contest.

Maybe I should lay low on rooting for anyone for a while :-?

First Tancredo dropped out, then Romney and Giuliani lost to McCain, then Dems consolidated their power in Congress and now, even here, with like minded people, I can't even see Pamela winning an Anti-Dhimmi contest - now she's 3rd, falling behind Brigitte. Nothing against either Brigitte or Steyn, but something tells me that nobody I root for is going to win.

Maybe I should lay low on rooting for anyone for a while :-?

really difficult choices. all are deserving, of course.
even though i have been madly, unrequitedly, in love with ms. gellar for a long time i had to cast my vote for mr. steyn (his recording of Marshmallow World not withstanding). this is due only to his greater reach into mainstream America through his columns and appearances in broadcast media.

I love everyone one of your nominees! However, one stands heads and shoulders above the rest in her efforts. Why? She is actively building a worldwide grassroots army that will number in the millions. All the talk in the world won't defeat islamic supremacy. A citizens network that takes on anything in it's path: dhimmitude, an apathetic Congress, an academy that is anything but! Only Brigitte Gabriel's plan will insure getting this done. The messages of Steyn, Geller, Bolton, Coughlin and Bostom are magnificent and so appreciated. But thank God for Brigitte! She is leaving nothing to chance. She deserves this honor!

Kelly

I think someone has a picture of someone else standing next to a Nazi and we all know what that means.

I agree with Kelly!
Brigitte is leaving nothing to chance. Lord knows this nation can't handle more of that!!

Brigitte is actually manifesting her deep rooted conviction to share truth about Islam by giving us an outlet for our passion to expose evil and stand against it!

I have read articles from the other candidates and appreciate and respect each of you for your role in this important endeavor! I only wish that the rest of America understood the significance of the work you all do!

Thanks to each of you for your efforts!
God Bless each of you!!
