"I have told them in a letter that they should either convert to Islam or leave Yemen, or I would kill them," he said, speaking of the minority of a few hundred Jews who continue to live in the Arabian peninsula country.
Only the immediate relatives of the victim were in court which was filled with members of Abdi's tribe, along with five lawyers who volunteered to defend him.The hearing was the second, following the opening of the trial on Saturday.
"This man has wronged us," said the victim's father, addressing the judges, pointing at Abdi who appeared in a blue prison uniform.
Abdi said his act was "in accordance with a masters' dissertation I wrote on their electronic war and jihad (holy war) in the name of God."
Defence lawyers retorted that Abdi was "mentally disturbed" and had quit his previous posting as an air force pilot due to his mental illness. They added that he had killed his wife two years ago.
"He does not understand what he has done," the defence said, requesting a referral for psychiatric tests."Such statements help the Jews against me... I want an American lawyer," Abdi screamed in response, calling upon his tribesmen to sack his legal team...

If Abdul Aziz Yahya al-Abdi is insane, then Mohammad was insane. but fsankly,I don't think either one of them was clinically insane -- spiritually sick, yes, clinically insane, no -- except maybe the kind of self-induced kind of insanity that only Islam inspires in its followers. All the Muslim killers and terrorists of this world can't be insane, but the one thing thay have in common is a shared belief in a theology that has turned good and evil upside/dowh in their minds and spirits.

"Mentally disturbed", yet he offers his victims the very choices that Muhammed offered non-Muslims at the founding of Islam--with the slight difference of his not being able to personally offer them the option of paying him Jizya in exchange for dhimmi status.
These are the "options" being offered to non-Muslims all over the "Muslim world"--or wherever Muslims come to make up a large minority--to Christians in Iraq, to Hindus in Kashmir, to Buddhists in Thailand, to animists in Sudan.
It's a very common sort of mental disturbance.

He wants an *American* lawyer? Of course, any American defence lawyer would follow exactly the same strategy as his current lawyers--pleading insanity. He obviously wants a defence on ideological ground--that is, on Islamic grounds. In which case, see above.

What would the difference be?
The differences are two:
1) Jihaddis share their weird delusions with lots of other murderers, whereas normal psychopaths are fairly individual and original in their delusions.

Hi everyone. Peace to every non-muslim. I've been reading JW-DhimmiWatch for quite a while now but this will be my first post,at least if it gets approved. I will probably come across as an extremist of sorts. I've been studying Islam since the 70's & I'm forced to conclude that it's a blight on the human race that needs to be wiped from the face of the earth. I honestly believe that on 9/12/01 we should have picked the Arab country of our choice,turned it into a glass parking lot & then looked around at the others & asked "Any questions?". To paraphrase a commercial for a popular disinfectant spray "You can't clean Muslims,you have to Kill them." This Yemeni animal scum should be killed preferably by slow electrocution but I'd settle for Sanction 4 in the back of the head. I'm an American & I believe in the 2nd Amendment. An armed American is a free American & I will never lay down my arms as long as there are Muslims & liberal Marxists threatening my Country & Constitution.Thanks for listening to my little speech. When an Egyptian soldier, on the other side of Israel, opened fire on a group of Israeli tourists and killed men, women, and children, he was described as "insane."
Now if you do not know, what texts they had read, what they believed, the atmospherics of their existence, then you would of course describe both men as "insane." And if you did not know, and had been very careful not ever to find out, about Islam, because then you might have to warn your people, and in warning them you might feel you were not so much arming them as depressing them, lowering their morale, for they would have to come to grips with the awful truth: that the Lesser Jihad against Israel is permanent, that it is rooted in Islam, immutable Islam, and that nothing Israel does, no further surrenders of territory, will assuage the Muslim Arabs and a state of permanent war (though not always of open warfare, as long as deterrence can be made to work) will simply have to be endured.
Abdi is clearly an upset man. Something has gone wrong with his life. He murdered his wife two yearas ago. Of course he wasn’t punished for that. Perhaps he murdered her because he had lost his pilot’s job and he had to take it out on someone. Or perhaps he lost his pilot’s job after he murdered his wife because, even though he suffered no other punishment, the air transportation company that had employed him became a little alarmed about his reaction to stress. But is Abdi, was Abdi when he killed that completely innocent Yemenite Jew, “insane:?
Was Abdi, that is, who killed a Jew because that Jew insisted on remaining a Jew, and even remaining in Yemen) really someone whom the Yemenis in their own milieu consider “insane”? Or do they prefer to characterize him as “insane” only for the world’s outside Infidels, so as to protect the faith of Islam, so as not to have to make clear that he was behaving as Muslims can, with such impunity, because of the Shari’a? Was not the government of Yemen merely acting in the same way as the Jordanians when they described that Jordanian soldier who murdered the Israeli schoolgirls “insane” and the same as the Egyptian officials who called that Egyptian soldier who murdered the Israeli families on a holiday in the Sinai “insane”? No, the Jordanian soldier, the Egyptian soldier, and Abdi the Yemenite were not insane. They were, possibly, simply unable to hold in their natural impulses, impulses which, you can be sure, on many occasions, over 1350 years, many Muslims have freely indulged in – killing Jews, or Christians, or Hindus, or Zoroastrians, with impunity, with no fear of being punished and no punishment, save that which fellow Muslims might mete out if, as in the case of the Jews of Yemen, they were considered chattel, property whose loss was felt and could, therefore, be avenged by destroying the property of the tribe of the killer.
And because in the fastnesses of the Yemen the pressure of European power, the presence of Europeans, never reached, the old ways continued right up to the last few decades. To understand just how unimportant the life of a Jew in the Yemen has been, right up to the middle of the twentieth century, the excerpt by the British scholar R. S. Serjeant, quoted in Andrew Bostom’s anthology, The Legacy of Islamic Antisemitism, pp. 658-659, may be instructive::

A protected Jew of al-Husain, the Sayid of the Banu Sahm, was murdered by the Banu Sirmah, so the Sahm in turn slew a protected Jew of the Sirmah . . . the Sirmah came to al-Husain to discuss the matter. Al-Husain replied, “You killed our Jew, so we killed your Jew,” adding that it would be a pity if two tribes closely related should actually engage each other in war.
No, the Jordanian soldier, the Egyptian soldier, and Abdi the Yemenite were not insane. They were, possibly, simply unable to rein in their natural impulses, impulses which, over the past 1350 years, many Muslims have freely acted upon, in all the lands where Muslims ruled, and the Shari’a was imposed, all kinds of non-Muslims -- Jews, Christians, Hindus, Zoroastrians. And they did so without the slightest fear that they would be punished except in such cases as that described by Serjeant, where the victim in question was regarded as a chattel slave, and hence the property, of other Muslims, and then those Muslims would be able to demand retribution, or simply to take it, not because a Jew (or some other non-Muslim) had been killed, but because Muslim property had been destroyed.
And that is the end of the matter, even today, for most Muslims. Where do you think that Jordanian soldier or that Egyptian soldier are today, the ones who murdered the Israeli schoolgirls and families on holiday? Do you think they are still in prison? How long do you think they stayed in prison? Do you think they were ever seriously treated as if they were “insane”?
