This sort of conduct is a result of the Qur'an's requirement of four male witnesses to prove rape has occurred. It is also the result of a culture in which the honor of a man and his family depends on their "control" over women (with Qur'an 4:34 sanctioning violence to quell "rebellion"), and in which reputation and the external appearance of piety trump individual rights.

An Afghan teenager is in a serious condition in hospital after her mother and brother allegedly sliced open her belly to remove a five-month-old foetus from a rape, officials said.
The girl's relatives, who are farmers, had apparently decided to remove the unborn child to protect the family's honour, a local Governor told AFP.

Bamiyan Governor Habiba Sarabi said the girl had not told her family she was pregnant.
"When the family realised two days ago, the mother and brother of the girl tied up her hands and legs and took her to a stable where they sliced open her belly with a blade and took the foetus away," she said.
They then sewed up the wound with a large needle of the sort used to seal flour sacks, Ms Sarabi said.
It became infected and started bleeding and the girl fainted, prompting the family to take her to hospital.
"She is not in good health now," she added.
Authorities had arrested the alleged rapist and were investigating, Ms Sarabi said.
Provincial health director Nadir Ali confirmed the girl was in hospital.
"Her wound is badly infected and we are trying to control that first. We don't know how bad are her internal wounds," Dr Ali said.
The nature of the wound showed the procedure was not carried out by health workers, but further investigation was needed to establish what had happened to the girl, he said.

Oh, those french have such a blunt way with words sometimes. Last time I heard, rape and pregnancy outside marriage were NOT an honor that can be bestowed as a merit. NOT IN ANY SOCIETY, Western or otherwise.
The poor thing was 5 months pregnant when they ripped her open. Without anesthesia and in a stable as if she were a common farm animal. How could her own mother do this to her?

Rape within marriage is of course a-ok. Did it never occur to them to do what people in the West used to do and just keep her inside for a few months and then put the baby up for adoption? Not bloody enough for them? She was probably 13 and the father was probably a relative. Girls in Afghanistan don't get out much from what I gather and if someone doesn't approve of them going to school or whatever they're more likely to throw acid on them than rape them. When is an Afghan girl going to get raped? They're never alone. On her way to school? It happened at home.

After reading this article, I only have one question.
Why are you still a Muslim?
Nope, I don't what to hear any excuses.
That fact you do nothing about this heinous (can't even bring yourself to condemn it) speaks volumes.

As jdamn said, it was probably a relative. The girl will be barren from this and she will probably be raped on a daily basis. Truly disgusting.
What really gets to me is the fact that they knew she would be scarred from their "operation." So how would they ever be able to marry her off in the future? They wouldn't.
Thus I have come to the conclusion that they expected her to die from her wounds. It's a conundrum. They could've just smothered her or stoned her, yet they didn't. Her rapist HAS to be a family member, otherwise they wouldn't have tried to protect their "honor" so secretively. Because that's when the real scandal would've come out, pronouncing who her rapist was.
Isn't there some women's right organization that can help abused women and terrorized children like this? One where they are given refugee status and gotten out of those evil vile sharia-run countries? I'd gladly take a couple in my home...
Unfortunately, the same kind of fog that comes down when Islam is linked with terror also comes down when discussing crimes against such women when the disposal of an unwanted baby is concerned. As well as being appalled by the crime I was saddened by the French Agencies use of the term fetus instaed of "baby", or even "child".
My wife and I have lost two unborn children, one at full term, so whenever I hear the unborn child - especially a full 5 months old - called something that has connotations of being subhuman, like "fetus", I protest. That is an irrepaceable child, not a ball of snot.

a) The mohammedan designation of rape and illegitimate pregnancy as morally equivalent and equally disgraceful to the related family.
Illegitimate pregnancy has been a source of embarrassment all over the world through much of history. But regarding rape as a source of shame -- well that's a little special.
Charity or sympathy toward the raped girl? Nah! Give her the knife. Not quite your run of the mill traditional family attitude, to say the least.
But Agence France-Presse passes over this telling detail without a blink.
