Bangladesh: Muslims drive Christian grandparents, converts from Islam, from home

“We are the first converted Christians in this village. Neighbors told my sons, ‘Why should your parents live in this village? They do not have right to live here because they are no longer Muslims.’”

Islamic Tolerance Alert: "Bangladesh: Muslims drive Christian grandparents from home," from Compass Direct, January 14 (thanks to James):

DHAKA, Bangladesh, January 14 (Compass Direct News) – Muslims in a village in western Bangladesh have forced two brothers to expel their parents from their home for converting to Christianity.

Ishmael Sheikh, 70, and his wife Rahima Khatun, 55, were baptized on Nov. 9. By the end of the month, Sheikh told Compass, Muslim neighbors in Kathuly village, near Gangni town in Meherpur district, had compelled their two sons to expel them from their house. Meherpur district is 270 kilometers (168 miles) west of Dhaka.

The ailing Sheikh told Compass that his two sons had come under tremendous pressure from neighbors in the village, which was entirely Muslim before the coupled received Christ. The neighbors threatened that the children of Sheikh’s sons would not be allowed to marry anyone from the village if the brothers allowed their parents to remain in the home.

“My sons are afraid that if we go back to home, their sons and daughters will not be married off in the Muslim society,” Sheikh said. “We are the first converted Christians in this village. Neighbors told my sons, ‘Why should your parents live in this village? They do not have right to live here because they are no longer Muslims.’”

The couple went to a shelter used by itinerant minstrels who sing traditional Bengali songs a half kilometer away from their home.

“I got salvation in Jesus,” Sheikh said. “In this shelter without food, I am ready to flirt with death by debilitating illness or by attack by Muslim neighbors, but never will I go back to Islam.”...

My, but how these countries just THRIVE, after expelling all the people with any kind of work ethic. How enhanced with peace and kindness and beauty and culture...imported by Araby, the Ummah is once those quarrelsome Christians are exported.

And Muslims sometimes tell you Islam is a tolerant religion and there is no Compulsion of Religion in Islam...

of course, Muslims lie a lot...

“I got salvation in Jesus,” Sheikh said. “In this shelter without food, I am ready to flirt with death by debilitating illness or by attack by Muslim neighbors, but never will I go back to Islam.”...

I had a shitty day today,

But this sentence alone made my day. A mans will to believe and stay strong despite odds. a powerful statement from a man of god.

Thank you Ishmael Sheikh & wife, Thank you Robert et al. Thank you jihadwatch readers.

Isn't this the same type of collective punishment that they are whining about in Gaza? But in this case I guess they feel it's alright cause it's the Muslims doing the punishing.

Two things need to happen.

1. Thousands of Christians need to send money to organizations like "Life TV" which is helping Muslims see that Islam is a lie and that Christianity is truth and life.

2. An organization needs to be created to help converts from Islam to be supported.

I am often taken to Revelation 20:4 when I think of what Christians face in this current great age of persecution against our faith by Islam. Why does it say "beheaded" when the worst punishment in Pagan Rome was crucifixion? I'm not a fundamentalist or even protestant, but it is interesting given the chief means of terror that Muslims employ.

"Then I saw thrones, and those who sat on them were given authority to judge. I also saw the souls of those who had been beheaded because of their testimony about Jesus and because of the word of God. They had not worshiped the beast or its image and had not received its mark on their foreheads or hands. They came back to life and ruled with the Messiah for a thousand years."

Let's think about this. He's 70. He's been a Muslim all his life. And, having experienced a different path, that of Christianity, even for only a little while, he is so determined not to go back inside the spiritual and mental prison that is Islam, that he is prepared, with his wife, to starve to death. Better love and freedom - even if you die for it - than slavery.

Doesn't say much for Islam, does it? - that those who do manage to leave it so often prefer to die rather than go back into Islam.

Think of that Somali convert who was beheaded not so long ago. He could have saved his life in ten seconds, by renouncing his new faith, Christianity, which he had been practising for some three years, and reciting the shahada. One must assume that those three years had been so good, by comparison with the twenty-odd years of being-a-Muslim which preceded them, that there was simply, for him, no possibility of even imagining going back inside Islam. That, unable to escape and live free as a Christian, he preferred actual death rather than endure a living death of mental and spiritual slavery.

“My sons are afraid that if we go back to home, their sons and daughters will not be married off in the Muslim society,” Sheikh said.

Well, there's one good reason to go back home.

“We are the first converted Christians in this village. Neighbors told my sons, ‘Why should your parents live in this village? They do not have right to live here because they are no longer Muslims.’”

Message to neighbors: the same argument could be made against letting you live on this planet.

How would that work for ya?
