Fitzgerald: Israel to Gaza: Just leave us alone

Israel, of course, is forced to fight with one hand tied behind its back -- tied by the so-called "international community" that puts enormous pressure upon it, and even convinces the weak-minded in the American government to join in, when the Israeli goal is actually quite simple and straightforward.

That goal is to stop the sending of thousands of rockets indiscriminately (or discriminately, for that matter) into Israel, into such major population centers as Ashkelon, Ashdod, and now Beersheva, requiring nearly a million Israelis to have to worry all the time about the 15 seconds they have to find shelter against incoming rockets. It's a very simple demand. It has nothing to do with changing the immutable ideology of Hamas. It has nothing to do with winning unwinnable -- because firmly inculcated with Islam -- hearts and minds. It is purely a military matter: is Hamas going to be allowed to continue a gigantic, a truly monstrous arms buildup, with every kind of missile that the Iranians or others can supply them with, or is it not?

Never mind the Gazan Arabs’ consistent whine that they have every right -- see the Hamas charter, do, it's long past time that you read it and took it seriously -- to steadily pile up rockets and other war materiel for the sole purpose of using it against Israel, and whenever they can to send those rockets whirring into Israel. Never mind the absurdity of Hamas and the Gazan Arabs complaining of how unfair it is of Israel to try to interdict those arms smuggled into Gaza, and of how further unfair it is of Israel to complain when a few dozen such rockets are lobbed during the "ceasefire" every month. Then when Hamas declares (on December 19) that it will no longer "observe" (it never really did, but only diminished the numbers of rockets it used) the ceasefire, it underscores this by sending 70 rockets in a single day toward Israel's population centers. Never mind all that, and never mind the idiotic notion that Israel has to "win Arab hearts and minds." That kind of thing can only be said by those who simply refuse to acquaint themselves with Qur'an, Hadith, and Sira, refuse to listen to what the sermons of imams contain, refuse to look at the Arab textbooks, refuse to read any of the great Western scholars -- or for that matter the great Muslim scholars -- of Islam, refuse to heed the growing number, in the West, of articulate defectors from the Army of Islam, such as Ayaan Hirsi Ali, Wafa Sultan, and Ibn Warraq.

And never mind the whining about Israel not being quick, even being -- how dare Israel? -- reluctant to supply those who wish to destroy it with electric power supplied by Israel's grid, and goods and services of every kind, and even continued access to free Israeli medical care for difficult cases. All this the Gazan Arabs, like the "West Bank" Arabs, have come to believe is theirs by right, without the slightest sign of embarrassed recognition of what might be called cognitive dissonance about the "Nazi-like Israelis" who have for decades offered them this access, this service, with scarcely anyone in the Western world even bothering to note this, as if it were a thing of no account.

No, never mind all that. Never mind that Gazan Arabs do not work, and have not tried in the slightest to do anything except to make war on Israel, for they exist knowing that UNRWA and the Infidel donors of Europe and America will always be there to relieve them of the hard work of existence. And note that the Gazan Arabs and the "West Bank" Arabs and the other so-called "Arab refugees" are the spoiled children of the "international community" that has been so thoroughly penetrated, manipulated, and dominated by the Muslim Arabs, or by an Islamintern, that we find that 2% of the U.N.'s total budget goes each year for the exclusive benefit of the "Palestinian" Arabs, and 3% of the U.N. budget goes for all of the hundreds of millions of other refugees all over the world. And those "Palestinian" so-called "refugee camps" are in essence cities, with -- for god's sake -- DVD stores (some of them have been bombed by too-enthusiastic Muslims) and cell-phone stores. Some refugee camps! Yet the Gazan Arabs manage to keep themselves on the U.N. and Infidel dole. Why are not the rich Arabs taking care of their fellow members of the umma? They, after all, are rolling in still-unspent hundreds of billions. And aren't Muslims supposed to help fellow Muslims? Didn't Allah send the oil, and therefore the oil revenues, for the enjoyment not of some but of all of those who constitute his "best of peoples," that is, the Muslim Arabs?

Just keep this in mind: if there were no rockets shot into Israel, no fantastic arms buildup of military equipment, smuggled under several hundred tunnels that have been carefully constructed (and from the secondary explosions that you can see from the bombing of them, these places were full of arms), then there would be nothing, absolutely nothing, not a gun, not a tank, not an airplane, not a paper airplane, from Israel going into Gaza.

It is a simple choice. It is the most understandable and basic request: stop sending rockets, stop spending all of your energies making war or preparing for war. Leave us alone. That's all. Just leave us alone. That is what any country -- even besieged and thrown-to-the-Muslim-wolves Israel -- has a right, and a duty, to demand.

To that end, here's help:

Heeding David Littman Confronting Hamas' Genocidal Jew Hatred (Part I)

--from Andrew Bostom's website

Israel has never seeked anything but peaceful co-existance with it's arab neighnors. All the points raised are excellent. The fact the islamofacists have taken over gazastan, want the west bank, all of Israel and all Jews dead is the problem, period. there can nvere be a two state solution with these muslims who they think they have entitlement to land that was nevers theirs. The UNWRA, EU , the wst continue to dump millions and millions of dollars into this region and get nothing in return except continuing warfare against Israel. Arab states have purposely left the so called "palestinians" right where they are to keep a boiling hot spot of terror against Israel going, non stop. Pawns of Iran and Syria is all they amount to. Neighboring islamic states could have solved these and other problems by letting all the muslims in gazastan and the west banl immigrate to their fine countries and pick up the tab for doing so. These fine arab states should be funding all the supplies, utilities etc.. for the muslims, but they do not.

Israel is justified in it's response and it is long overdue. Whatever means possible should be used and even an international mediating force should only be considered AFTER hamas has been neutralized or destroyed. A two state solution, never. Guive no more away as it will just reward
these murdering islamofacists.

The problem is Fitzgerald's commentary isn't printed in major newspapers or echoed on TV.

Instead we get agitprop from the Democrats and Liberals extolling the virtues of the poor victimized Arabs and making the Israelis to be nothing but Neocon puppets and bloodthirsty killers.

What worries me is that once Obama takes office he may totally align with the Islamic states. Which is quite probable since many Democrats and especially liberals and progressives have a anti-semitic streak that would make a Ayran Nation thug blush with envy.

Doubt it? go to any major Democratic or liberal blog and all you'll find is them attacking Israel and making the Palestinians out the victims.

All in all I'm just surprised that liberals haven't called for the destruction of Israel given their hatred of that state.

Once I remarked to a person of Egyptian parentage that Israel just wanted to be left alone. They can't be, I was told, they stole Arab land.
There's always an excuse to attack the Infidel State, right?
With this Gaza thing, I just wonder how it will be possible to defeat Hamas without attacking the civilian infrastructure, since Hamas is so intertwined with it.
If the meticulous criteria against civilian casualties demanded today by the PC elites from Israel had been carried out in World War II, Europe would now be part of the Third Reich.
A double standard is in effect: It's okay for the jihadis to deliberately target Israeli civilians, but not for Israel. That often means that Israel's restraint causes the death of their own civilians.

Just to reiterate that if the Arabs lay down their arms there will be no war, and if Israel lays down its arms there will be no Israel.

From Hugh: It is a simple choice. It is the most understandable and basic request: stop sending rockets, stop spending all of your energies making war or preparing for war. Leave us alone. That's all. Just leave us alone.

A reasonable demand, but they can't...here's the fly in the ointment...8:39 'Fight them until...'
There are others as we know...But 'until' has not been attained. Not in 1400 years.
Mohammadans must fight dar al harb until, 'until'
is achieved. That is not likely to happen soon, so Islam, represented by Hamas in this case, will continue the jihad as they have in the past, no matter what their status with Israel.

The only sensible thing for Israel to do is what it is doing...Make it too costly for Hamas to continue...

Don't stop until Hamas is destroyed

Martin Peretz | January 02, 2009
Article from: The Australian

MAYBE the Israeli Government will concede to a ceasefire. We'll see. But it is clearer in my mind than ever why a ceasefire between Jerusalem and the regime in Gaza will never hold. Even the so-called ceasefire in place since the summer was not remotely close to a true pause in the fighting. That is, in the fighting from the other side of the frontier.

Day in and almost every day out, rockets were launched from Hamas territory, and Israel did not fight back. Then, one day last week, Hamas aimed 60 missiles, some more rustic, some much less, into the land, into eretz, as it is commonly called in Hebrew. This was one violation of the truce too many. How long was Israel to stand aside while its enemies, sworn by fanatic Islam to its destruction, rained death, injury and terror on its population?

It is sad that it had to come to this massive response of the Israeli Defense Forces. Yet it had to. For not only were the people of the western Negev and municipalities abutting it continuously imperilled. There were the tunnels into Gaza from the Sinai peninsula, tunnels that brought all kinds of contraband and even luxury items to the Palestinians of the wretched Strip. And, of course, fuel needed by the people and also by Hamas, without which its capacity to kill would be zero. But more than that.

The underground passages are Hamas's lifeline to additional weapons and to increasingly advanced weaponry.

What about Egypt, you ask. Frankly, Egypt is a failed state, except for a competent intelligence service operating in the cities; it has kept the democratic opposition at bay. Still, even in Cairo and Alexandria, corruption is deep rooted. At the crossing between the peninsula and Gaza, certainly, it would not take much cash for a poor boy from the upper Nile suddenly to become eyeless and make it a habit for cash. Yes, "eyeless in Gaza", as in John Milton and Aldous Huxley.

The Mubarak Government, which now under the cover of Israeli aircraft is trying to choke Hamas, never curtailed the terrorists' arms power at the geographical source, the underground channels to what is, after all, Egyptian territory. Egypt is another story, a pathetic story.

A ceasefire can sometimes be had between civilised governments. But why isn't anyone pressing the US and its allies in Afghanistan into a ceasefire with the Taliban? A stupid question. Because the enemy is the Taliban, and the Taliban could as easily convert to Christianity as agree to an armistice with their opponents. Maybe they'd agree to what the Arabs call a hudna, a pause, a lull, but only on tactical grounds.

Hamas is a Taliban state, as one Israeli diplomat put it. This is almost an epiphany, a clarifying truth. Hamas operates against its Palestinian enemies like the Taliban do against their Afghan enemies. Imagine a Hamas squad entering a kindergarten in a kibbutz.

Neither the Taliban nor Hamas strive for earthly aims. Armed with instruments of death, they each fight for a heavenly design. But on earth. Yes, what a heaven that would be. Death is their own blessed comrade. Go ahead, establish a ceasefire with one of them. America before Israel.

The Taliban are not analogous to Hamas. They are identical, equivalent. A ceasefire with Hamas is a delusion. Engage with whom?

Israel has shown more than enough restraint through years of provocation. Or, as The Wall Street Journal's Bret Stephens has written, "No ingenious conceit can disguise the fact war offers no outcome other than victory or defeat. This is one big thing that Hamas understands." Let us hope that Israel grasps this, too. And the new US administration, as well.

Martin Peretz is the editor-in-chief of The New Republic.

And never mind the whining about Israel not being quick, even being -- how dare Israel? -- reluctant to supply those who wish to destroy it with electric power supplied by Israel's grid...
......................

A few months ago I did the math on this--Israel, with a population of around 8 million supplying Gaza--with a population of about 1.5 million, is roughly the same as if the United States, with its population of a little over 300 million, was entirely supplying electricity to the *entire United Kingdom* (population a bit over 60 million).

Think of that enormous drain on the energies (literally and figuratively) of the US in such a case--it would boggle the mind, having to support the costs of supplying such a huge outgo of energy. And this for a nation--Israel--entirely lacking in either oil reserves or major hydroelectric power.

Yet this, of course, is just a small percentage of what Israel is expected--day in and day out--to supply to those who have sworn to destroy her. She is castigated if she stops to run terrorist checks before admitting "Palestinians" for free, elite medical care, or if the steady flow of trucks full of aid are temporarily slowed due to suicide bombings at the border checkpoints.

She was even criticized for those checks at the border when Fatah members were fleeing from their murderous fellow Muslims *into Israel*. Think of that--how many people flee into the arms of what--supposedly--are their greatest enemies, to escape the tender mercies of their co-religionists?

If anything tells you how one-sided this conflict is, it is this. Israel really does just want to be left alone.

"He sent one of his sons on an October 2001 suicide mission that killed two Israeli settlers in Gaza...."

I'll give Rayan credit for one thing, he at least sacrificed one son in a martyrdom operation. Most of these Islamic leaders save their own children, while sacrificing someone elses kid in their holy war against the infidels.

I've read that Condi Rice wants a cease fire, to presumably install UNIFIL in Gaza, so Hamas can re-arm effectively, as Hizbullah has done in Lebanon.
Man, I sure won't miss her when Bush steps down. I think Hillary will be better, which isn't saying much.

"progressives have a anti-semitic streak that would make a Ayran Nation thug blush with envy..." - Kooky statement of the day

87% of Jews in the US are registered Democrats. Their representation: there are 30 Jewish members of the House - 29 Democrats; 13 Jewish senators - 9 Democrats, 2 independents who caucus with the Democrats and 2 Republicans.

The above quote is wrong on so many levels that even Rush would deny saying it.

It's the aim of either side that needs to be considered more than either side's relative "claims".

Historically, the first century A.D. Jews revolted against foreign Roman invaders, but were crushed, and many thousands were driven out of their homeland by the brutal legions of Italy after the fall of Masada. Meanwhile, the neighboring Arabs essentially took advantage of the Jews' misfortune and occupied the mostly-emptied land of the displaced Hebrews during the following centuries, until 1948, when each side was offered their own adjacent homeland in the region by a majority U.N. decision. The Arabs rejected the offer and have been at war with Israel ever since to try to reconquer all of the land they infiltrated and now consider part of their Islamic Ummah.

The Jews are fighting to survive and to uphold a democratic (and essentially secular) state~ which guarantees the fundamental human rights, including religious freedom, liberty of intellectual inquiry, freedom of conscience and of behavior.

Islam, on the contrary, wishes to establish a permanent theocratic tyranny.

Why would any reasonable person... or nation... support the latter goal?

Mohammadism promises to impose Koranically-approved slavery, to raise up a murderous religious despotism, to crush human rights, yp enforce cruel misogyny and to paralyze all intellectual progress with backward Bronze Age dogmas.

How the hell is the real battle... between these "choices"... not the central question in this conflict?

Instead, we get emotionally-blackmailing, vacuously-slanted reporting, which ignores all of the crucial questions of this philosophically and morally profound conflict, and merely shows injured, crying children ...as if such images "prove" anything.

Israel means greater freedom.

Islam means increasing despotism.

The world must choose which end it prefers.

Mick_n_NYC,
Quoting some demographics on American Democrats does not rebut the long-standing (and also very recent) fact that the left wing has been consistently and virulently antisemitic and frequently makes common cause with islamists over this one shared characteristic. Read the black radicals of the 60's. Read Michel Foucault. Listen to Hugo Chavez (being illiterate, he doesn't write much). Or Castro. Or any of dozens of other notables on the left who've expressed their detestation of Israel and admiration for the Religion of Peace, e.g. Carlos the Jackal, "only a coalition of Marxists and Islamists can destroy the United States," and, by implication, its counterpart in the Middle East.

johndoe wrote:
"Just to reiterate that if the Arabs lay down their arms there will be no war, and if Israel lays down its arms there will be no Israel."

I think the above sums up the message quite nicely.

BTW - the "johndoe" handle reminds me of the white house deputy asst. Gordon Johndroe. Where has he been during this administration? He gave one of the best press conferences that I've seen in all of President Bush's 8 years. He's young - but did a far better job of handling the press than what the White House had been trotting out.

His communication on the White House's position regarding Israel's conflict with Hamas was quite effective.

Johndroe's a cutie too. I was wondering the same thing: where has this guy been? Did he replace Dana Perino or is he the holiday B Team? Anyway, I like him and it's too bad that we'll probably get Maureen Dowd or the more respectable Ryan Seacrest under Hussein Obama.

I love Israel and the Jews despite being non jewish,
Israel has a universal right to defend itself against ANY attacks, no other land would tolerate missiles landing and killing kids every day
The abusers have got back what they have been wanting, Israel must eliminate the entire hamas leaders and followers
anyone in hamas uniform is a target, if they choose to be in hamas uniform they are part of the terrorist organisation and are targets accordingly.
To quote Cicero-
"The shifts of Fortune test the reliability of friends.
Cicero (106 BC - 43 BC), De Amicitia"
Australia and USA must stand up for Israel and help defend Israel, Australia needs to send its SAS soldiers and army into Israel to defend the Innocent Israelis
stop prevaricating, protect Israel- send to Israel enough troops to defend it now
