Hamas top dog to Israel: "If you commit the stupidity of launching a ground offensive then a black destiny awaits you. You will soon find out that Gaza is the wrath of Allah."

Or, as the Telegraph puts it here, "You will soon find out that Gaza is the wrath of the God." Maybe we will see about that, but it still seems doubtful.

"Hamas threatens 'black destiny' if Israeli soldiers enter Gaza," by Tim Butcher in the Telegraph, January 3 (thanks to Sr. Soph):

Rumours were circulating in the evening that Israel could launch a ground offensive within hours. Such an attack became more likely as the Israeli security cabinet met for four hours and decided to “keep up military pressure on Hamas”.

In Damascus, the exiled Hamas leader Khaled Meshaal warned Israel that it faced a “black destiny” if it decided to launch a ground offensive.

He also threatened that militants in Gaza could attempt to seize Israeli troops as hostages, as they did two years ago when the young soldier Gilad Shalit was kidnapped. "If you commit a foolish act by raiding Gaza, who knows, we may have a second or a third or a fourth Shalit," said Meshaal.

"If you commit the stupidity of launching a ground offensive then a black destiny awaits you," the Syria-based Meshaal said in a pre-taped speech aired on Al-Jazeera television.

"You will soon find out that Gaza is the wrath of the God."...

But of course, this has nothing to do with islam, the religion of peace. It's just that "tiny minority of extremists" misunderstanding and hijacking their religion again......

"...Gaza is the wrath of the God."

Well, he's right, there, at least in a way. The Gazans are suffering the wrath of God, and I'm not talking about the Israelis. I'm talking about Hamas, the Gazan leadership, which has acted with criminal intent since taking power. It has squandered the country's meager resources on weaponry in order to attack its neighbor, instead of using these resources to better the living conditions of its people. Of course, Hamas was elected by these people, so in a sense they deserve what they're getting.
It all reminds me of something from Dante's "Inferno", where the sinners are suffering various torments at the hands of demons and horrible beasts: with the Gazans being the sinners, and Hamas the demons and beasts. Maybe if the Israelis kill enough of the Hamas leadership and gunmen, the Gazans will get the nerve to rise up and throw them out, and replace them with responsible leadership. But I'm not holding my breath.

can someone ask hammas what is the alternative? black death either way. at at least with a ground assault and a thorough one, hammas is gone. :)

CBCnews is reporting that the Israelis have nailed another of Hamas' top leadership: Abu Zakaria al-Jamal. Nice work, Juice!

'It will end with a ceasefire'
"The conflict will be decided on the political level," Ben-Ari predicted. "In the end, the Arabs' pleas for a ceasefire will be heeded before we break the enemy's will to fight, just like our humiliating defeat in the Second Lebanon War and Resolution 1701."

"There will probably be an agreement on some kind of ceasefire but the enemy will never agree to lose their ability to rearm. Their entire existence depends on their ability to keep on hurting us," he said. "Their motivation is to one day be able to chase us out and return to Ramle and Lod."

"Round and round and round we go; swing yer padner dose-see-do! One step forward, three steps back; Yer sittin in the middle of a railroad track -- EEEE-HAW!"

IDF should bomb the crap out of hammas for every rocket they send over. just keep pounding hammas dead.

Great going Israel! Make sure that the last muslim radical is killed in Gaza.

I am much more optimistic - Of course it will end with a cease fire. All armed conflicts must end with a cease-fire.
But what matters is fort the cease fire to be imposed from a position of strength I firmly believe that this time around, the Israelis realise that the only possible outcome is to win on the ground. So in my view, a ground offensive is unavoidable.

Another thing that will affect the outcome is that France no longer has the Presidency of the EU. The newPresident is much more sympathetic to Israeli8 position.

Easy to boast, Khaled. Especially when you are nice and safe in Syria.

'Easy to boast, Khaled. Especially when you are nice and safe in Syria.'

Except maybe he's not so safe, even there, tanstaafl. I bet he's looking over his shoulder, no matter where he is - hopefully fearing the long arm of Mossad.

Don't worry Gazans be happy, Allah will protect you...

Allah has protected every Gazan who has not yet been killed or injured.

Allah will protect the lives all survivors...Allah is compassionate, kind, oft forgiving, and just plain wonderful...You can rely on Allah...

"...Gaza is the wrath of the God."

I thought Aguirre was the wrath of God.

But then ala is NO God.

Gaza the wrath of Allah?

You bet . For once, the Mahometan is right It is the wrath of Allah... but Israel is the land of GOD and God is going to protect Israel against the wrath of Allah.

GO ISRAEL GO.

Islam = TERROR.

This warning of a "black destiny" kind of echoes another warning several years ago given by that late, "lamented' (demented) idiot Saddam Hussein, who promised the "mother of all battles" if Iraq were invaded.

usaf_warrantofficer, yes, they are masters of braggadocio, like all playground bullies. Notice the Israelis don't engage in this. They just keep on truckin' and going about the grim business they have to do.
