Man of the Year
Geert Wilders has been named the Man of the Year by FrontPage Magazine, and the honor is richly deserved -- because Wilders in 2008 was fighting on the front lines of the most important battle in the global jihad today: the battle to defend free speech.
Free speech, besides the little detail of its being a foundational principle of Western civilization and any authentically free society, was in 2008, and will continue to be in 2009, the focus of an all-out assault by the 57-government Organization of the Islamic Conference, the UN's largest voting bloc. The OIC and other Islamic entities want to curtail the ability of non-Muslims to speak freely about the elements of Islam that jihadists use to justify violence and Islamic supremacism. The obvious goal of this initiative is to render the West and the non-Muslim world in general mute and thus defenseless against both violent and stealthy efforts to impose Sharia around the world -- which imposition is the ultimate goal of what is generally known in the mainstream media as the "terror threat."
Stateside, at this point the anti-free speech initiative advances by means of a large-scale effort to declare honest discussion of the historical and authoritative teachings of Islamic sects and schools to be "Islamophobia," "bigotry," and "racism." And in 2008 we saw the success of this initiative make immense gains. We saw agencies of the United States government adopt guidelines of discussing the "terror threat" that ruled out any discussion of the doctrine and ideology that underlay it. We saw the mainstream media in the West grow increasingly supine in the face of the stealth jihad intimidation tactics practiced by American Muslim advocacy groups. As a result of the mainstream media's mischaracterization, misreporting, and underreporting of the "terror threat," we also saw the public largely lose interest in the global jihad at precisely the time that it is becoming more assertive, and meeting more success, than ever.
Then the public's loss of interest set off a vicious circle, with high-profile media figures sharply curtailing their reporting on jihad activity in all its forms -- and even on the Internet, which at its best functions as a modern-day samizdat, a last bastion of open discussion of these matters, some of the erstwhile champions of resistance to jihad and Islamization decided that other matters were far more important. History will show in due time which was greater: the jihad threat, or that of creationism or imaginary neofascism or what have you.
Amid all this nonsense and cowardice stood Wilders, who produced Fitna, a rather straightforward depiction of how jihadists use the Qur'an to justify acts of violence, in March 2008. Fitna in Arabic means discord or upheaval; after the film was released, the world held its breath for another outbreak of irrational violence from Muslims, such as we saw in the wake of the Danish cartoons of Muhammad and the Pope’s Regensburg address. But the expected riots and violence did not materialize: the counterattack instead unfolded in different ways. Iran and Pakistan lodged formal complaints – Iran with the European Union and Pakistan with the Dutch Ambassador to Islamabad. Jordan charged Wilders with “blasphemy and contempt of Muslims,” making it a real possibility that he could be arrested in a nation that had an extradition treaty with Jordan. There was also a rapid advance of anti-free speech efforts.
The multinational Islamic body and largest single voting bloc at the UN, the 57-nation Organization of the Islamic Conference, condemned Fitna in “the strongest terms,” claiming that Wilders’s movie was “a deliberate act of discrimination against Muslims” intended only to “provoke unrest and intolerance.” They succeeded in passing a non-binding resolution at the UN, outlawing defamation of Islam (defined by whom?), and are now seeking to pass a binding resolution of the same kind.
Will these initiatives to muzzle all discussion of the jihad and Islamic supremacist doctrine and ideology continue to advance in 2009? Probably. Will they succeed in criminalizing any discussion of what the West faces and how we must defend ourselves? Probably they will advance a great deal farther before they begin to be turned back. But as another stalwart of Western civilization, Yogi Berra, once said, It ain't over till it's over. And they have an awful lot of people they're going to have to shut up. In 2009, let's get louder.

I'll be happy though when I see him interviewed on the mainstream news channels. He is reasonable and well spoken and perfectly understandable in English. When the mainstream interviews him, then I'll know the west is waking up. Until then, the coverup by the mainstream media continues, in favor of the muslims.

This morning I'm wearing my "When exactly does the next Crusade begin?" sweatshirt, and later this morning I'm going to wear it outside - something I've heretofore not done.
Below the slogan is the image of a Templar Knight. I ordered it online.
This was an excellent choice for Man of the Year.
Robert, make 2009 the year of assault on the MSM. While what you and many more unspoken heroes do an admirable and vital job, many operate most of the time on the periphery of the main media outlets and predominantly on the internet.
While the islamists (like Anjum Chowdhry) are given free airtime to put their point of view across on channels like the al-bbc, their counterpoint, in the guise of “moderate islam”, is always given by another person of an islamic persuasion (e.g. Ed Hussain). So islam, as the source of much violence and despair around the world, is never questioned.
This chain of moderate vs fundamentalist must be broken. We must push for a counter view of islam in the mainstream put forward by a non muslim like yourself.

In your text you talk about the OIC and various other Islamic threats to free speech and freedom of the press. On this side of the pond there is another threat to free speech and particularly the internet - the EU. The EU is incredibly bad at PR. Some people claim that the EU is an attempt at a Fourth Reich by France & Germany but their PR dept is definately lacking a Dr Goebbels ! The internet is a particularly good base for putting out the truth about what is going on whether it is an Islamic agenda or a new EU scam. The internet can not be threatened by the commercial pressures that can be aimed by the EU at press and TV. Because the EU is losing the internet war (Richard North's EUReferendum.blog was voted top UK blog a couple of years ago !) it is resorting to registration and regulation of the net. Various proposals are being put forward by the EU Commission and the local gauleiters. Although the EU's attempts to control the internet are to protect the EU from criticism any restrictions on the net particularly new legal powers against netposters will also be used by Islamic organisations to stop exposure of their jihadist agendas.
PS : Just to let you know how bad things are in the UK no major British newspaper or magazine has reprinted the Danish cartoons - yet !!

Stephen King said 'fiction is the truth inside the lie' and I've attempted to show the truth within my lie, entitled "A Plague on Both Houses", which is a novel of anti-dhimmitude in the thriller genre.
The story and characters cite Qur'an, ahadith and selections from contemporary imams and ayatollas. The motivations of the jihadis are explained in terms of the Islamic belief system, the truth of which I've tried to 'expose' for those who might not pick up a more scholarly approach. It's a commercial novel aimed at the popular market, but is backed by what you'd see on this site and in Mr. Spencer's, Bostom's, Warraq's, Trifkovic's and Bat Ye'or's books on the subject.
Please give a thought to buying it, or of spreading the word about it in our community. It's definitely a way to get louder in 2009.

The strategy of the Ummah shifted from public riots, which made them look ridiculous and barbaric, to undermining western freedoms of speech, which makes them look more legitimate protests. Lest we be fooled, this protest is founded on deceiving our laws into silence by using the same laws we apply to protect free speech as a means of stopping it. Duplicity of the Ummah at its best. But now that we can see through this clearly, thanks to the great efforts of Wilders, Spencer, Bostom, Hugh and others, the duplicity can be marginalized with constant pressure of the truth. The aggressive Mohammetan groups advocacy to silence any real examination of fundamental Islamic teachings can be used against them in the same way, by exposing them to the truth and showing the world the duplicity of their call to silence. This is a war they cannot win, and one we must.

I've been ratcheting it up since the fall of 2007. And I've seen some small progress in getting at least a few to be aware of the threat which Islam poses to all non-Moslems.

To echo USorThem- Join an activist group- UAC is good. I'm a leader of a Houston area chapter of actforamerica.org. We'll do more when we can find and work together with others who are like-minded.
Here's the problem in the U.S., we have the MSM and one political party who kiss the asses of Muslims and support open borders and gutting survelliance against Muslims.
Worse these folk will have all the levers of power for the next 4 years. They are going to do everything to ram their agenda down our throats.
I fully expect that the Democrats will all but gut the 1st Amendment in the name of political correctness and incipient authoritarianism.

Honestly, it’s always people like that whom go around attempting to use the USA very own freedoms to undermine and take away the freedoms of OTHERS in USA away. So, that they can go around using the Koran claiming that they are More “superior” race (yep it uses the word superior about it) that Non-muslims whom are their “servants” (yep it uses the word servants about it; whom are to have no rights, no freedoms, no land, no homes, no possessions.
Oh, but here’s one more—According to the Koran–the Non-muslims because they are NON-muslims are required to pay a tax anytime the muslims require it to keep the Non-muslims from being killed. Also, to keep the muslims living in the “lifestyle” that they want to be “accustomed” to live in at the expense of all NON-muslims in USA and in the world.

Actually, I'm in favor of striking the latter, since there are people on the Left who may be socialist about a lot of things, but are correct about Islam and Mohammedans. Something worth remembering and reflecting upon.
It is the famous Christmas Broadcast of King George VI, from 1939.
To revisit it, in these dark and dangerous days, as both the Combat Jihad and the Stealth Jihad gather momentum,
and as Israel fights for its life against the jihadists of Hamas, and as India vacillates after the jihad ghazi raid conducted against it from Islamic Pakistan, and the Filipino Catholics and Thai Buddhists are perpetually attacked by murderous jihad assassins,

For King George VI could speak confidently of unity and a shared purpose among those opposing the Axis;
whereas almost all of those countries and societies presently assailed by Jihad have barely even begun to recognise the name and nature of the enemy.
However: the King's closing words, from the words "I believe from my heart..." speak out of the past as if they were written directly to all who today are gathering themselves to resist Jihad and Sharia.

Given what is now happening in Gaza, as the IAF goes up against the mass-murderer-wannabe jihadists of Hamas, against their preachers and practitioners of Jihad, the following paragraphs of Wilders' speech ring like iron.
