Malaysian religious authorities "investigate" blogs "insulting to Islam"

Interestingly, though, all these "offensive-to-Islam" blogs seem to attract lots of visitors; one blog up for a mere week received 1,700 visitors. As the Malaysian authorities mean to demonstrate, however, curiousity kills the cat -- or in this case, the Malaysian. More on this story.

"Jakim reports receiving more complaints about blogs insulting Islam," from NST Online, January 7:

The Malaysian Islamic Development Department (Jakim) has received several more complaints about blogs insulting Islam and the Quran. A Jakim officer, who did not want to be named, said the complaints were received the last few days on the department’s portal.

Jakim’s research division had initiated investigations, he told Bernama when contacted today.

Yesterday, Taman Permai Umno Youth head Hafiz Malek revealed the existence of a new blog containing insults against Prophet Muhammad and Islam, which he said sprouted just over the week and had recorded some 1,700 visitors so far.

Last month, a blog using the name and picture of a Malay woman was exposed engaging in this sensitive activity.

"Malaysian religious authorities "investigate" blogs "insulting to Islam"

You mean like this one? The one I've bookmarked? Well...I guess this means war...

Robert... Hmm.... Have you been working undercover?

So, if I say: if pigs could be religious they'd be muslims, or, the quran isn't worth wiping my ass with after a nasty shit, or, muhammad enjoyed raping six year old boys, are malaysian religious authorities going to track me down. Should I be very, very afraid? Can you feel me shaking and see me cowering under my PC desk?

tjwork or other Malaysians

What do our dear friends in Putrajaya (cough, cough) think of this one? Is it blocked? Have they ever thought of blocking it? We are probably next to only FaithFreedom when it comes to insulting islam.

There Malaysia goes terrifying its own people - again -

All for their Saudi Masters - no measure is too great - in the attempt to fetch that Islamic bone -

Only a few good Malaysians are imprisoned each year for consciously leaving Islam - and at least they are locked up and don't have to face the sword - as in Arabia -

Makes you wonder which of the Islam(s) should you respect - the one that is practiced in the Islamic world - or the one that is presented by the Islamic spokespeople in the western world.
