From SANE, how we should fight back against Sharia Finance initiatives:
In this monograph...(PDF here) published by the highly-respected McCormick Foundation of Cantigny Park, Wheaton, Illinois, and the Center for Security Policy out of Washington, D.C., much of the work of SANE and SANE's David Yerushalmi on the threat from Shariah and Shariah-compliant finance is highlighted and condensed for easy but important reading.
This is much bigger than most of the items on your web site. Nonetheless, because it involves "finance", which is to say boring things like "accounting", I do not think you are going to get many comments. I hope I'm wrong.
I'm a former regulator and lifelong career accounting professional. I can swear to you that Mr. Yerushalmi and The McCormack Foundation are correct here in describing this as a Trojan Horse. That is a perfect description because the gift of financial deal making contains the enemy which is bent upon destroying our way of life.
I am sure I'm not the only one who is concerned about this, but I would bet that I'm one of the few who do not value "the deal" more than I value the future.
Unfortunately, we are trained here in the U.S. to examine current results as our main focus. That is a serious problem and one which dogs us through our entire history. We need to look ahead. Looking ahead, as a main focus, would have PREVENTED the present day breakdown of the MBS market with the collateral mortgages being so often issued to the wrong borrowers.
Most of what I can determine to be true about Islam is that it contains massive amounts of tenets designed to "conquer" other religions and other cultures. This is doubtlessly just another arena where the fight will be difficult and will be so obscure as to "the rules", that it may very well become "too late" before we wake up here in the USA. Once again, I pray that I'm wrong.

One can only hope that the current financial debacle will spur government regulators to not only shut down the financial products contributing to this mess but exercise due diligence in assessing all "new" products, such as shariah-compliant finances.
But what do average people like you and me do to affect decisions in corporate boardrooms? That's a question to which we must find answers pronto.
Americans should start by demanding that all Muslim institutions renounce the 653 murderous hateful hadith that Jamal al Banna (brother of Muslim Brotherhood found, Hassan al Banna) says inspire Muslims worldwide to commit mass murder and crimes against women and children.
These verses are direct, specific threats against members of communities. They are not vague; they are like a loaded gun held to our head. They are a plan for a Nazi-like "final solution," As advocacy, they don't constitute freedom of expression, much less passibly religious doctrine. Interpretations of threats are done all the time by judges and juries. It is not hard if one has a rational and educated mind.

Many thanks for your insights and concerns about SCF. I have downloaded the monograph and will read it carefully.
I am far from a financial markets genius, but it doesn't take a rocket scientist to see the threat.
I have not come to a conclusion yet whether Dow Jones (and all other financial institutions) have come the their senses in this regard, but trust me, I will be watching this subject closely.

Well, just tell me where I can go to apply for a sharia loan. I am sure to be turned down since I wear a big silver cross. AND THEN-I will find a lawyer who will help me sue them for religious and sexual discrimination and shut 'em down. Hopefully, I can get some money from the bastards...
I don't mind if a mosque is willing to bankroll their own. But I have a REAL issue with this going mainstream! It's unconscionable! I am willing to fight them in the same under-handed manner with which they behave.

Well said, Chris Tune, about the shari'a finance issue being of momentous importance, and a Trojan Horse.
I don't think we'll manage to keep it at bay, though, without a groundswell of resistance to it. The average Joe hasn't the time to make a scholarly investigation into why it's such a threat to us as a nation, then to pressure elected officials or financial leaders to squash it. The impetus to do so will come, instead, from an overall understanding that Islam (and anything associated with it) is a danger.
Don't take this as a criticism of your post, Chris. Indeed, I hope to see more and more folks involved in the financial sectors speaking up and writing about it.
But it is, indeed, just a part of the problem we're facing.
I lived 40 years in Islamic Countries untill they persecuted me and I left.
The Sharia Financing is failing in the Islamic Countries, Muslims themself don't like it. I don't know why USA wants to implement this in the USA.

Don't blame the muslims for their actions until you are ready to ban the muslim terrorists manual aka quran or koran.
As long as this terrroists manual is not banned you cannot ban the actions by the followers who read this manual. I.e. since bombs are illegal to possess in the west by civilians, the manuals to make bombs are banned and illegal too.
Imagine if the manuals for making bombs were openly legal, would you prohibit someone from experimenting with bomb making.
