"The traffic...is coming from everywhere....Short of blocking out Australia, France, and multiple other countries, or just removing all DNS entries for the site entirely to make it disappear, there is no real way to stop this sort of thing other than by individually blocking the IPs that are making the direct requests, which yes, look to be just traffic directed to make sure the site is either slow/sluggish or not reachable because of the amount of requests....This traffic started out of nowhere, so I imagine that you wrote something that ticked off somebody."

The same thing happend with islam-watch.org a few days ago. That site was temporarly even off line. Luckly it's back on.

By the way, warning and informing Americans about the intent and actions of those wanting to destroy our way of life is NOT hate speech - it is very appropriate and essential use of freedom of speech - ACLU take note.

If this is indeed what it is then it is a DOS (Denial of Sevice) attack and the FBI has a specific cyber-crime division to deal wth it.

Purplemarbles, I would think that you're right, except that overloading a server with requests is the single jenkiest, most half-assed, novice way of "hacking" a site, or really just making it inaccessible without actually hacking it. It's very amateurish. This is what has happened every single time Faithfreedom has been "hacked" too. People who can't hack can't create fake IPs either. They simply lack the skills. If it were easy to fake IPs we would never catch jihadists operating on the Net. The Ummah's IT skills are as strong as their artistic traditions and capacity for independent thought and invention. Every now and again you may see some evidence of it, but it's always pretty sorry stuff.
AMartinez, I would say that having JW load slowly but Atlas fast does mean something, namely that it's not a Typepad issue (always my first assumption), plus Atlas just loads slowly. It's gotten better recently but that's because Pamela made the decision to cut her articles on the homepage.
This stuff does come from the free world. It actually more likely to because you could be imprisoned, tortured, and killed for reading JW in any Sharia state. Plus the Aussie blogs I like - Shiek's blog and Australian Islamist Monitor - have these same problems.

This morning (early morning Australian time on 2nd January our time), I was peacefully reading jihadwatch with my morning cup of tea, when - all of a sudden, a blank wall: I simply couldn't get onto the website at all.
It stayed off - totally incommunicado - for some hours. I don't know how long; it was still out at about 9 am 2nd January our time.
Then I was out and about and didn't try another look at the site till mid-late afternoon 2nd January our time - at which point I got through no problem and everything was working fine again.
Hmmm I have had no problems at all to access the site. I have been on it most days in the holiday weeks.
Working fine in USA fly over country.
No problem accessing site. Usually difficult to reach entire articles. Impossible to forward.
Especially "Oh Allah, direct your forces against America". Tried many times to forward . Millions of the video and entire translation should be sent to every media outlet in US, in my opinion.
