Fool me once into dhimmitude, shame on you; fool me twice, shame on me
Criticizing him with, perhaps, something of a veiled threat: "We [Muslims] hold him responsible." For what, Hamas provoking war with Israel? Ironically, Muslims put him through this before over two years ago when he showed support for Israel. Then, he apologized; will he again?
"U.S. Muslims criticize LA mayor for supporting Israeli attacks," from Xinhua, January 6:
LOS ANGELES, Jan. 5 (Xinhua) -- U.S. Muslim groups on Monday criticized Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa for publicly supporting Israeli military actions in Gaza. This reminds one of the difference between Israel and Hamas: the latter has the will, but not the means, to annihilate Israel; Israel, on the other hand, has the means, but not the will, to annihilate Hamas."Why is the mayor of Los Angeles dragging himself and his constituents into international conflicts in the Middle East?" Salam Al-Marayati, executive director of the Muslim Public Affairs Council, said at a press conference here.
Earlier in the day, Villaraigosa reiterated his support for Israel's military attacks on the Palestinian militant group Hamas in Gaza.
"I've seen the wreckage caused by a constant barrage of rocket fire -- more than 6,000 rockets launched on southern Israel over the last three years alone," Villaraigosa said.
Last year, Villaraigosa visited Israel, including the town of Sderot, which is near Gaza and a frequent target of Hamas rocket attacks.Explaining why it is that he supports Israel: he has seen first hand what it deals with daily.
Al-Marayati said the mayor "should meet with all sides and discuss the critical perspectives and recommendations for all sides before making a decision on such an important international issue" if he chooses to engage in international affairs.Villaraigosa "should bring both sides together to talk about how we can prevent the conflict and violence emanating from the Middle East from spilling over onto our streets in America," Al- Marayati said.
The Islamic Shura Council of Southern California, an umbrella group that coordinates activities of more than 70 mosques in southern California, also took Villaraigosa to task, saying that it is "disappointed and feels betrayed by the mayor's one-sided perspective on the tragedy in Gaza.
"While we grant the right for the mayor to his opinion, we also believe he is obligated to recognize all perspectives to any situation. The mayor failed [the Muslims of] Los Angeles in this regard and we hold him responsible," the group said in a statement.
In response, Villaraigosa said he would be willing to meet with members of Los Angeles' Palestinian and Muslim communities to address any issue, according to the Los Angeles Times.
Statement quoted above:
What unfounded and undeserved arrogance, if arrogance ever is deserved or has a foundation.
These folks on the other hand...
You can bet that they hold us all responsible, even Mickey Mouse!!! Blame everyone but themselves, stick to the plan. I am so sick of listening to them whine. All the interviews I've seen so far, not one of them will admit that THEY were the ones that broke the ceasefire and started rocketing Israeli towns.
It's like poking a sleeping tiger....poke....poke....ROAR....and then the crying starts.
I hope Israel re occupies Gaza, I know they won't, but I hope they do ;o)
Give Hamas something to really complain about.
Villaraigosa "should bring both sides together to talk about how we can prevent the conflict and violence emanating from the Middle East from spilling over onto our streets in America," Al- Marayati said.
.................
Do you think Al- Marayati is concerned about violent Jewish riots on the streets of LA? Crazed Zionists attacking mosques in the Southland?
Hmm--not so much. It is a rather thinly veiled threat of *Muslim* violence in Mr. Villaraigosa's fair city, should he not toe the line.
Gravenimage - well spotted, re the clear threat that the Muslims have levelled against the Mayor of LA.
LA jihadwatchers: time to communicate with the Mayor; praise him for his initial statements, explain that he and his city have just been openly threatened - the Muslims have as good as said: unless you grovel to us Muslims, and throw Israel to the jihad wolves, *we will riot on the streets of LA*. Urge him to dig in his toes and REFUSE to 'apologise'; tell him to tell the Muslims to go take a flying jump, and that any further threats of the sort they have dared to make, will result in greatly increased attention by the LAPD to mosques, pro-Hamas rally leaders, etc.
Funny how the Muslims, while chiding the Mayor for "dragging himself and his constituents into international conflicts in the Middle East?", have absolutely no qualms about doing exactly the same thing themselves.
It is Muslims who have dragged international conflicts into local affairs, by shooting Jews in a mall in Denmark, attempting arson against synagogues in Toulouse and in the USA, rioting and looting and burning cars in the streets of Paris, and mobbing a Jew and causing damage to property in Golders Green.
I have not seen the Jews in the wider world assaulting their Muslim neighbours, trying to burn synagogues, or engaging in malicious vandalism; and that despite the general pusillanimity of most kafir governments and authority figures, the mutedness of their support for Israel. I have not heard Jewish community leaders issuing veiled threats such as these Muslims have issued to the Mayor of LA.
Here's the web site for the LA Mayor
http://mayor.lacity.org/index.htm
Scroll down to "Contact" I am sure he would appreciate our opinion. I hope they are not that naive for anything to "spill on to our streets"
I guess that the American chapter of Hamas, AKA: CAIR, will be issuing one of their ACTION ALERTS tomorrow. It will be Action Alert #560. Here's part of Action Alert #559 regarding Israel's "Inhumane" attack on Gaza.
Israeli attacks block efforts to bring peace with justice to the Middle East, harm our nation’s image and interests worldwide and strengthen voices of extremism in the region.
So that was what Hamas was trying to achieve by firing rockets at innocent women and children... Peace!
He is allowed to support Hamas. If he doesn't, he is an enemy of Islam, and we know what happens to them...
"This reminds one of the difference between Israel and Hamas: the latter has the will, but not the means, to annihilate Israel; Israel, on the other hand, has the means, but not the will, to annihilate Hamas."
Well put, Raymond!
While I don't live in the City of LA, I do live in LA county. Thanks for providing the link Ladywolfnl, I think tonight I may just write to the Mayor. In the past he's demonstrated that he can be both a pussy and a dickhead (first changing his own last name to incorporate his wife's, then cheating on her), but this time he got off on the right foot. Perhaps with a show of support for taking a correct stance, he can avoid blundering.
I just wrote the LA Mayor. Thanks for that link, Ladywolfnl!
I hate Muslims more and more each day.
I never thought there'd be anything I support the mayor of LA over, but this is it.
One thing I disagree with though: adding [the muslims] to the story. I think that the shura council gave a veiled threat; i.e., since the mayor "has chosen sides" he has failed LA by making the entire city liable (and subject to their violence) for his decision to side with Israel. Why else would he have to worry about "violence spilling over" in to the streets of America?
Why is the mayor of Los Angeles dragging himself and his constituents into international conflicts in the Middle East?" Salam Al-Marayati, executive director of the Muslim Public Affairs Council, said at a press conference here.
Hey Salam Al, how about you taking your own advice?
Villaraigosa "should bring both sides together to talk about how we can prevent the conflict and violence emanating from the Middle East from spilling over onto our streets in America," Al- Marayati said.
Uh, Al, go outdoors and look around; you aren't in Gaza anymore. Are you suicidial or something?
Oh, silly me.
If Muslims are not mature enough to control themselves, and exercise their freedom of speech without resorting to violence, they shouldn't expect the same restraint from the police or the population of the US that is seen in Israel or India.
Muslim violence in the US would be literally like killing the goose that laid the golden liberal-guilt-trip, wouldn't it?
And who would you whine to then?
Dear Robert;
Do you, or anybody think, that this s o b, Al-Marayati, would give Israel a fair shake in any situation? NO! Does anyone believe that this haughty bastard, would give a damn if ten thousand rockets had been launched toward Israel over the last three years? NO! If six hundred Jews had died over the last eleven days, what are the chances that Al-Marayati would feel pity for the loved ones left behind? ZERO ! ! !
So who does this dope think he is talking too, when he talks about one - sidedness? Does this apparent HAMAS lover think we are stupid? Indeed! I think he does!
However; we are not!
Sincerely;
EJO
At least he has guts to speak out. Too many officials are too afraid to do this.
Is it not time we stand up to these people.
All there demands and it is never enough.
Just like what ever Israel does, it is never enough either.
Villaraigosa "should bring both sides together to talk about how we can prevent the conflict and violence emanating from the Middle East from spilling over onto our streets in America," Al- Marayati said.
Wow! As others have noted that is a threat. This is America and the mayor (no matter what political party) has the right to express what ever opinion he wants. We leave it up to the voters to judge not some Muslim and his dead prophet. I think things are starting to spin out of control and thank god for it. The faster we get to the tipping point…the faster we can do away with this PC nonsense. It is only a matter of time. This is going to get ugly and fast…
We need to start to organize and take the offensive to Islam in our own country and stop worrying about places like Iraq. They want to protest outside of Jewish (and soon Christian) places of worship in this country, we should protest outside of Mosques. Every Friday! We need to assemble muscle in the street…like the Sons of Liberty did, and like the abolitionist movement did. So far I have not seen anything that resembles that yet. We need to make public statements of defiance against their way of life.
Liberty or Islam…make your choice!

"We need to start to organize and take the offensive to Islam in our own country and stop worrying about places like Iraq."
Yes!!! One thing the muslims seem able to do is organize. At least, their demonstrations are organized.
The Persian community in LA loves to demonstrate in front of the Federal Building on Wilshire. They can generate large numbers of demonstrators too. I first saw the mess such a crowd can create almost 20 years ago when I first moved here. I think I was trying to go to a Westwood record store and by coincidence came accross a really big crowd of really testy Persians. Iranians. Whatever. I'm sure they are even testier these days.
And what do we have going on tomorrow, Wednesday?
From Atlas Shrugs, Pro Israel Rallies:
Los Angeles
Date: Wednesday, January 7, 2009
Time: 12 pm - 2:00 pm
Location: Federal Building in Westwood L.A.
Street: Veteran and Wilshire
StandWithUs, Bnei Akiva and the ILC in cooperation with the Jewish Federation of Los Angeles, and Jewish Day Schools across Los Angeles, invite you to STAND IN SUPPORT OF ISRAEL's RIGHT TO DEFEND ITSELF AGAINST HAMAS
The article states the Muslim group criticized the mayor on Monday. The timing is delicious.
There was to be a pro-Israel rally today, Tuesday also:
Los Angeles
**Date: Tuesday, January 6, 2009
Time: 4:30 pm
Location: In front of the Israeli Consulate in L.A.
Street: La Jolla & Wilshire
I haven't heard anything about today's rally, but I would expect the one in front of the Federal building to draw a larger crowd of Hamas supporters, as it's the Muslim's habit to demonstrate there.
I think you all can connect the dots and see that Villaraigosa needs to be pretty tactful for the next short while. LA cops have horses for crowd control just like NY cops. And the Lakers win the playoffs often enough to keep the riot squad in practise. BTW, that was NOT sarcasm.
So, it appears that California Muslims, peaceloving as they are, support Hamas and their charter to annihilate Israel. It then follows that the Fort Lauderdale (Broward County), New York, Philadelphia, Boston, and Muslims from dozens of other American cities feel the same way. Thank God they are only a "tiny minority."
Wake up America!
I wonder whether MPAC has ever objected whenever the Berkeley city council had their debates and weighed in on whether to boycott Israel or not? It would have been okay for mayor Villaraigosa to do what he did had he supported the Pali, instead of the Israeli side.
Memo to the mayor - if you plan to repeat your actions, correct in this case, don't bother apologizing. Instead, give them the middle fingered salute.
My email to the mayor thanked him and praised his courage. I also implored him not to back down or apologize. If only more politicians had the guts to speak the truth!
Stand firm L.A.Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa, this is a battle against Islamic fanatics who have taken over the Gaza strip, we cannot let the fanatics win throughout the world.
Israel is on the front lines of the battle with Islam and unfortunatly we see Muslims supporting the fanatics of Hamas or Hezbollah way to much.
Strong leaders need to draw a line in the sand and take a position one way or another. Either you cow-tow and appease the fanatics or you work to stop them before they attack you,if we try to have it both ways with Islam, we lose.
I am not a Muslim and I am not pro Hamas. Hamas and the Israeli Right Wing are mirror images of each other.
If you read the actual article and comments on the LA Times Blog, you will see most of the people want responsible US policy in the Middle East.

The comments of the Mayor are inappropriate for an international city like Los Angeles. I don't know why (well I know why- $$$$) he Weiss, Hahn Gruel and Zine don't just keep their mouths shut and govern Los Angeles - which is what they are paid to do. If they say anything, they should say they want peace in the Middle East.
Also, these elected officials should not be associated with the militant Jewish Federation of Los Angeles. I am interested in who the anonymous donors are who fund this organization.
Your website demonstrates that extremists come on ALL sides and are the real problem.
Michelle
Los Angeles is an American, not an international city. Just because there happen to be millions of non Americans (including illegals) doesn't make it international
What? Do they actually expect him to support terrorism? That is the alternative.
