Aqsa Parvez: dishonored, unmourned

Dishonored in life, dishonored in death
Finding that Aqsa Parvez, the victim of an honor killing in Canada, was buried in an unmarked grave, Pamela Geller wanted to give her a fitting memorial -- both for Aqsa's sake and as a stand against the dehumanization that is intrinsic to honor killing. I was proud to join in this effort, and once again thank all those who contributed to it -- but we have not found it to be so easy. An arboretum in Guelph has turned down Pamela's request to place a memorial there, and the Meadowvale Cemetery, where Aqsa is buried, has stopped answering our emails.
You can read three of the letters which have gone back and forth over at [1] Atlas Shrugs.
The lack of cooperation we have encountered so far amounts to tacit acquiescence to the culture of honor killing coming into the West -- but we are never going to accept this. We are not giving up. We're going to memorialize Aqsa, and are already exploring new options. Meanwhile, any ideas you have for a good way to remember this poor girl, please let us know.
