Which is ripe for a take over, whether by the military or jihadis remains to be seen (see below). One wonders if [1] any conditions were associated with this "gift" that, according to Pakistan's ambassador, proves that “the United States wants enduring bilateral ties with Pakistan"?

"US approves additional $1.9 bln in aid to Pakistan," from [2] Geo.TV, May 8:

US approves additional $1.9 bln in aid to Pakistan WASHINGTON: The US Congress Committee has approved $1.9 billion in additional assistance to Pakistan, Islamabad ambassador to Washington Hussain Haqqani said on Friday.

Speaking to media persons here, Haqqani said: “The United States wants enduring bilateral ties with Pakistan.”

Terming the approval of $1.9 billion by the US committee a great success, he said that it was a proof that America wants better relations with Islamabad.

“We have told the US that no compromise will be made on the country’s sovereignty,” Haqqani added.
