The inimitable Pat Condell excoriates the liberal Left, of which he used to be a part, for its abandonment of its own stated principles and embrace of the jihad. Along the way, he explains why opposition to Islamic supremacism is not racism, exposes the truth about the manipulative, cynical term "Islamophobia," and even skewers those who try to connect him to the BNP and to a race-based approach to the resistance to the global jihad. As one who has been the object of similar attempts from jihadists and their useful idiots among libelbloggers, I appreciated that.

Well my small fragment of brain thinks that there are different races of homo sapiens; not that I wish to denigrate others or claim superiority. But it's true. I think.
What do other Jihad Watchers think? Is he right? Has anyone seen the rest of my brain?

-DUMBLEDORESARMY - As far as humans go: I'm a bit dubious of any hard and fast pronouncements about 'races'.
If you go down to dna/ genetic level, we're apparently one of the most boringly homogeneous animal species on earth - very little real genetic variation to speak of (stuff like skin colour is totally superficial).
That's why close inbreeding, for humans, is such a terrible idea; lots of other species can get away with it, but not us, because we're starting from such a restricted base. Human males have a very high proportion of dud sperm, not as bad as things like cheetahs, but not much better. Not much scope for further speciation.
Then if you look at the genetic markers around the world, what you find is that Africa, where we started out, is the Valivov centre for such human genetic diversity as we do possess, just like the Andes is the place to go for diversity in spuds. Any two Africans will be less like each other genetically than any two people of, say, pure 'European' or 'Asian' or 'Polynesian' ancestry are like each other. Africans are like the spuds you find in the Andes; everyone else is like the spud strains you find outside the Americas, all descended from a vanishingly small subset of the total available 'pool'. Because you have Africa, the descendants of those who stayed in situ; and then you have everyone else; everyone else descends from the very small subset of the 'African genome' that walked out through the Sahara gate and then split up and went west, northwest, north, east and southeast.
So it strikes me, from a genetic point of view, that in fact a modern geneticist would laugh a person out of court for talking about 'african' characteristics, for example...because to do so would mean lumping together *the* members of the most genetically diverse human gene pool on the planet. (But remember, that's against the background of our overall lack of diversity as compared to other species).
We're all one species. There is no human group anywhere that has proven to be incapable of breeding with any other group. Beyond that, given the underlying genetic homogeneity, it's difficult to see how 'races' could be defined by anything but very superficial distinctions.

My own opinion is that there is no such thing as race. We all evolved from the same common ancestor and the only slight differences between humans are due to evolutionary adaptions. But if people want to describe these slight differences by the term race I don't have an issue with it.
As for the rest of your brain I wouldn't leave it lying around for too long. I know that AM and Muzzammil are desperate for one of these.
-HESPERADO - Obviously, Mankind is differentiated into different physiognomic types on some levels. To deny this is ridiculous, and indicative of the Leftist mindset of engineering reality to suit ideology. This Leftist mindset has percolated into the broader sociopolitical phenomenon of PC MC, which also affects the majority of Centrists and Conservatives.
Whether the differentiated types of Mankind translates from physiognomic differences to psychological, moral and cultural differences is another matter. Whatever the case is with that, it is undeniable that there are cultural differences among humans. It seems unlikely that it is a mere accident that of all cultures on earth, the white West has risen over the past half millennium to such an uniquely astonishing ascendancy in all fields of existence -- from political, geopolitical, economic, social, legal, philosophical, technological, scientific, aesthetic, artistic, and moral, while other cultures remain mired in various sociopolitico-cultural dysfunctions of appalling backwardness only relieved by their being assisted by the white West -- some more so (black Africans, Muslims) some less so (Far Eastern Asians).

I must be about the same age as he, and seem to have made the same sort of journey (if I can presume to call it that) from the leftie to the somewhere in the middley, and of a mind with him 100% on the views of Islam, and contempt for the Islamo-appeasers, the dhim-wits....

Too many times the left and the west have tolerated the evil that they see in the Islamic world and mistakenly called it "cultural differences". Too many times they stand and watch.
I can list hundreds of examples where standing aside and watching did no-one any good.
Among them are the Holocaust, the Armenian genocide by the Turks around 100 years ago, the Nanking massacre, the killing fields of the Khmer Rouge in the 1970s, Rwanda, and the on-going violence associated with Islamic expansion.
I applaud Pat Condell for his bravery in the face of ignorance on the one hand, and a ruthless enemy on the other. I hope that he has good protection.

This is analogous to the problem of Islam with the West doing nothing about it -- a malfunction (of course, the intensedebate malfunction isn't getting anyone killed -- but it is interfering with the Anti-Islam Movement, so it's no small thing).
