"Everything is smooth," Muslim says at meat-packing plant that caved to demands for preferential treatment

And why wouldn't everything be smooth? -- except, of course, for the non-Muslims who are inconvenienced and feel discriminated against by the preferential treatment that the J. B. Swift company is giving to its Muslim employees. But those non-Muslims don't dare speak up now. The writing is on the wall. Equality of rights and equality of treatment? Pah! Those are the shibboleths of yesterday's men! Today, we speak of multiculturalism, which means that all cultures are equal, except that some are more equal than others!

"'Everything is smooth', Muslim says of plant working conditions this Ramadan," by Chris Casey for the Greeley Tribune, August 26 (thanks to John):

Muslim workers are on bended knee in prayer. Company officials are on their toes.

The result: A ruckus-free Ramadan.

So far, anyway.

“Everything is smooth now and people are happy and the company is happy,” said Asad Abdi, vice president of the East Africa Community Center in Greeley.

Abdi and Graen Isse, another East Africa Community leader, visited the JBS USA plant on Monday, the first work day of Ramadan, to see how things went at sundown.

That's when Muslims break their daily fast and pause for evening prayers.

“Everyone was saying ‘happy Ramadan, happy Ramadan,'” isse said. “It was very welcoming.”

The company had even put out dates, food customarily eaten to break the fast, for the workers. The Muslims were allowed to leave production lines in shifts and go to prayer rooms — one for men, another for women — for 10-minute breaks.

“The people were working together on the line. They're covering for each other,” Abdi said. “When one person goes to pray, the other covers his place. … If (JBS) knew it would be this easy they wouldn't have had the problems before.”

Last September, things were much different.

Indeed they were.

FYI, here is a letter I wrote to the editor of the Greeley Tribune. It was not published, but raterh pre-empted by a letter that talked about how cute "Cinger", the Colorado Rockies' baseball team mascot is; by another on the subject of trying to train too many horses at one time; and by a third that complained about street repairs:

To the Editor of The Greeley Tribune:

I read Chris Casey's recent report, which says that JBS has built separate Muslim prayer rooms for the male and female employees, and special washing facilities have been added to accommodate the dictates of Islamic cleansing rituals.

With thanks to eminent Islamic scholar Robert Spencer's thoughts on this situation, I have a few questions to pose that I believe are relevant to this ongoing conflict between Islamic doctrine and the JBS Company's policies:

1) Is JBS now willing to construct separate Protestant and Catholic Chapels to accommodate the religious convictions of its Christian workforce?

2) Will there be holy water available for the Catholics with which to annoint themselves prior to entering the chapel?

3) And what about Jews? Are they to be left out of special considerations?

What we have in this ongoing skirmish, ladies and gentlemen, is another manifestation of the clash of cultures between Western civilization and all of its traditional values, customs and beliefs; and the World of Islam, which makes no accommodation for any idea, speech, law or custom that is an affront to, or in conflict with, Muslim doctrine or practice. It is always Western law, tradition, or in this case, corporate employment policies, which must bend and yield to the demands of Islam.

The bottom line is that JBS has made major concessions to its Muslim employees in their demands to impose de facto Shariah, or Muslim law, on an American corporation. Islam has carried the day in Greeley.

Without getting into a protracted evidentiary dissertation here, I can pretty confidently assure you that these concessions by the JBS Company will not be the end of the conflict. They are but one step toward the eventual imposition of Shariah on all of us.

Correction- The mascot's name is "Dinger". Sorry for the typo.

I would have said "take this job and shove it, Dhimmis" and walked right off the job for good.

"If (JBS) knew it would be this easy ..."

That's the problem: doing the easy thing as opposed to doing the right thing.

What, no condescending trolls this week? Did they all die while I was on vacation?

Isabella, the trolls are still lurking, but they are frustrated because it is much easier to ignore them with Typepad. They get frustrated that no one is paying any attention to them, so they don't post as much.

Chip, chip, chip.....

Cowards! I sincerely hope this company fails.

Great letter, Infidel!!

Thank you for letting us know about this travesty at Swift.

I urge all of you to boycott Swift company products. They deserve it!!

I have just called several friends and they have agree to do as well after I told them of the discrimination against non-muslim employees.

We also notified the two local stores where we shop regularly that we will not be purchasing Swift products.

You know we used to buy their bacon and pork loin packages. At least $35 to $40 per month, sometimes MORE at holidays and when we have house guests( which is OFTEN).

We make many, many sandwichs at our home! Bacon and eggs and BLTs are a mainstays at our home.

I grew some wonderful tomatos this year for our BLTs and salads. My lettuce however was not so good...oops.

The Swift pork loin was good to use for our "famous" cuban sandwichs. I usually take several large Cuban sandwichs to people in our church or neighborhood group when they have a new baby, move to a new home, have an illness or are out of work. At least twice a month somebody I know needs food help.

Never again!!Swift is history to me!!

We will find something else to use.

The 8 people in this house will NOT eat a swift product.

Enough of the garbage from these cowards!!

sewsalot,

I'm not sure if this is an option for you, but it is for my family and I.

Buy local meat products.

We live in a rural area and the local farmers are thrilled to sell their beef, chicken and pork.

You'll need a freezer for bulk purchases though -- i.e. 1/4 to 1/2 cow or pig.

It is much fresher and better handled than conglomerate sh*tfood like JBS or Tyson.

We raise and slaughter our own chickens, but not cows/pigs because of land constraints.

It it work, nasty work, but it is work that we've done our entire lives.

And, we appreciate that freedom.

Buy local.

So Swift puts out dates, for a ramadan snack!

Do they set out Christmas cake, at Christmas? Latkes at Hanukkah? Or ANY special food, for any other belief system?

FYI #2. Here's my follow-up letter to Chris Casey, who authored the news column (needless to say I got no response from Mr. Casey):

Greeley Tribune JBS/Ramadan Reports‏

Mr. Chris Casey
Greeley Tribune
Greeley, Colorado

Dear Mr. Casey,

I'm a retired peace officer, having served twenty years here in Colorado, then nearly two years with the State Public Defender's Office as an investigator. I am a two-times graduate of Cal State Long Beach.

I've followed the events at JBS pretty closely since last year's dust-up when the Somali-Muslim work-force walked off the job. Since then JBS has made some remarkable concessions to Muslim demands - prayer rooms, special washing facilities, free food, to placate and ameliorate this conflict.

This is from your most recent report:

"Some will view JBS's recent actions as caving to a religion that has a notorious extremist bent. Making concessions for Islam, they fear, will result in its practitioners gaining power until they reach their ultimate objective — global takeover.

The East Africans in Greeley say they have no intention to impose their religion on others. They love their new country, they say, and want to peacefully assimilate.

So, while the workplace tension has ebbed at JBS, the ideological divide between cultures is ever present, if not widening, as Muslims make inroads in practicing their faith on American soil."

There is a doctrine in Islam, called taqiyya, wherein it is permissible to systematically deceive non-Muslims about the truth of Islamic goals in order to protect and advance the cause of Islam. I suggest that you've been fed a steaming pile of taqiyya by the East African Muslims you cited in your report.

May I direct your attention to what is currently happening in Europe - gradual, incremental and inexorable Islamization of the entire continent. There are actually Sharia Courts of Law now operating in Britain. There are no-go places for law enforcement agencies in France, England and Germany, where police officers are afraid to enter to do their jobs because of Muslim-saturated populations that will visit violence upon them.

Most Americans know next to nothing about mainstream Islam, its doctrines, tenets, laws; and most know absolutely nothing about the life of Muhammad, his deeds, and his final instructions to his followers.

I will therefore take the liberty of referring you to Mr. Robert Spencer's work, which can be found at www.jihadwatch.org, wherein you can explore Islam from a straight-forward non-apologist point of view.

Very truly and cordially yours,
