Ex-Muslim teen's father claims she was "brainwashed," facts show otherwise

Was Rifqa Bary, who converted to Christianity and fled her Muslim home, saying her father told her he would kill her, brainwashed? Is she really just a wayward teenager covering up for her indiscretions?

More on the Rifqa Bary case. "Dad Claims Brainwashing As Muslim Girl Fears He’ll Kill Her," by Pamela Geller at Newsmax, August 17:

Rifqa Bary says she ran to Florida to save her life: “I was threatened by my dad.” She says that her father told her, “If you have this Jesus in your heart, you’re dead to me. You’re not my daughter. I will kill you.” But now her father is trying to regain custody of Rifqa, and he and the Islamic Society of Central Florida say she has been “kidnapped” and “brainwashed” by a “cult,” and that she’s a “rebel,” a “troubled teen.”

Well, which is it?

“This is a cult group who kidnapped my daughter and took her away,” claims Mohamed Bary, Rifqa’s father.

She hitchhiked to the bus station and took a Greyhound from Ohio to Florida. How is that a kidnapping?

Brainwashed by a cult? Which is the cult? Is it the group that silently approves of the murder of a daughter who shames her family by not wearing the proper head dress (like Aqsa Parvez), or by wanting live a free life (like Hatin Sürücü), or by dating the wrong boy (like Amina and Sarah Said), or by choosing another religion (like Rifqa Bary)? Or is it the group that offers sanctuary to a poor threatened girl?

Rifqa Bary’s father is also claiming that she was “brainwashed” by the pastor of the Global Revolution church in Orlando. Pastor Blake Lorenz denies that, saying, “she has been a Christian for four years, long before we ever met her.”

Let’s look at the facts.

Rifqa’s MySpace page, to which she last logged in two years ago, shows that she had already converted by then. Rifqa told Lorenz she converted four years ago; her MySpace page is evidence that she was a Christian at least by 2007.

There is more evidence on that same MySpace page. Rifqa chose a “Christian layout” and says that her favorite movie was “A Walk to Remember” — a good Christian flick. The movie is about a pastor’s daughter, a good Christian girl who changes the life of a popular but rebellious teenage boy through her indomitable spirit, purity, and goodness. Reviewer Jeffrey Overstreet said in Christianity Today: “The main character is portrayed as a Christian without being psychopathic or holier-than-thou.”

Further, under Rifqa’s favorite book, there is a small icon of a page from the Bible. The passage highlighted? Love is patient. Notice how it’s all done cryptically, as if she is hiding. “My Savior is JC,” she writes — JC, of course, is Jesus Christ. The movie is a Christian movie. The book is the Bible. And Rifqa wrote all this in 2007....

Read it all.

...he and the Islamic Society of Central Florida say she has been “kidnapped” and “brainwashed” by a “cult,” and that she’s a “rebel,” a “troubled teen.”

Cult[ i.e., the Christian faith]? Man, ain't that the pot calling the kettle black.

The Islamic Society of Central Florida [gag] needs to be told to sit down and STFU. It's none of their damn business.

"But now her father is trying to regain custody of Rifqa, and he and the Islamic Society of Central Florida say she has been “kidnapped” and “brainwashed” by a “cult,” and that she’s a “rebel,” a “troubled teen.”"

I thought he just recently said he doesn't care that she's a Christian. Anyway, what would make you think that another guy named "Mohamed" Bary would be a devout Muslim anyway?

This young woman can't reach 18 fast enough. At least then she will be able to function as an adult in almost all instances. This in itself won't provide absolute protection (nothing will) but it will be an advantage to her nonetheless.

Which is it? ...indeed!

Daddy-Dearest is portraying himself as someone desperate to point the finger at someone else, so the more he talks, the better things could turn out for Rifqa. First he tries to blame the Christians for "kidnapping" and "brainwashing" his daughter, then he tries to blame his own daughter for running away! This father is such an evil coward, because it was his death threat that drove her away.

If the court turns this young woman over to the family, she will die and her blood will be on the court's hands. Simple as that.

According to Muslim logic, ANYONE that leaves Islam is brainwashed and/or mentally unbalanced.

I'm actually very humbled by Rifqa and somewhat ashamed of myself as I don't know if I would have had the courage to risk death by openly declaring my belief in Jesus at such a young age.

Why more people don't acknowledge her heroic behavior escapes me (Mr. Spencer and Ms. Geller excluded of course).

But now her father is trying to regain custody of Rifqa, and he and the Islamic Society of Central Florida say she has been “kidnapped” and “brainwashed” by a “cult,” and that she’s a “rebel,” a “troubled teen.”

The audacity!

It is also important to note that the "cult" that Rifqa's father and the good folks at the Islamic Society of Central Florida are referring to is Christianity. At least we got some honesty from these few Muslims, after years of being told that Muslims view Christianity as a fellow "Abrahamic faith". Of course, this is only when the Muslims are in an inferior position and wish to lull Christians (and Jews) into a false sense of security. But when the taqiyyah is striped away we find the old Qur'anic view of Christians as misguided polytheists, who corrupted and distorted the original "Islamic" gospel; the view of Christians as wicked disbelievers and thus the "worst of all creatures" as the Qur'an puts it.

Of course, the liberal media, with its own hatred for all things Christians is sympathetic toward the Muslims in this narrative. They'll be able to recast Pastor Blake Lorenz is a sinister, Christian fundamentalist villain (watch them try to dig up some controversial statement in his past to complete his metamorphosis) who sought to cause strife among this Muslim family be brainwashing a poor, naive girl. Rifqa, in turn, will be presented as a confused, rebellious teenager. The whole notion of the mandate for capital punishment for apostasy in Islamic shari'ah law and honor killings will be brushed aside.

So the cult is calling the major religion of America (I'm not a Christian, but them's the facts, folks) a cult. Oh yes, that makes sense.

The 300 pound canary (or dove) in the room is the question of why this young muslimah would convert to Christianity?

I have my theories but I am sure that the taguiyya Muslims have their own. No points for saying it is brainwashing.

Brainwashed? Cult? ...gotta mirror?

as more and more young Muslim girls find out about Christianity they want to convert...and that is driving Muslim men more insane than they already are....I would not doubt some of her friends have also converted...it really is not hard to see a big difference between Christianity and Islam...you only have to look...

Rivqa is one brave young woman. . . my entire prayer group is praying for her. . . like Jew_Lover, I don't think I would have been so brave at her age...

Brainwashing defined:

1)Intensive, forcible indoctrination, usually political or religious, aimed at destroying a person's basic convictions and attitudes and replacing them with an alternative set of fixed beliefs.

2)The application of a concentrated means of persuasion, such as an advertising campaign or repeated suggestion, in order to develop a specific belief or motivation.

The above definition does not describe my introduction and subsequent conversion to Christianity.

The above definition of "brainwashing" certainly, and without doubt, defines Islam.

Rifqa, at worst, has moved from a cult of hate to a cult of love.

If that's "brainwashing", hand me the soap.

.................

Unfortunately, she just turned 17. She said this, just a few days ago:

"Today’s my birthday, my seventeenth birthday, and I might even die, I don’t know what’s going to happen to my own life."

We have to stand for this girl until she can stand for herself. I myself ran away from an abusive home at fifteen because things had become so violent at home (I've still got scars on my head--one reason I wear my hair long).

My situation had nothing to do with Islam, but I know what it's like to have to leave home long before I was ready to fully stand on my own in order to save my life.

I'll be writing those letters tonight. God bless Rifqa and keep her safe.

As far as brainwashing goes, the Gold Medal for the cleanest brains in history goes to Muslims.

I hope her lawyer convinces the judge to emancipate her.Her parents are liars, they will both kill her if she is returned to them.

Defimoondo, Boneshack :)
