Count the euphemisms! George Carlin himself -- who traced the progress of simple terms to long-winded, polysyllabic, politically correct substitutes -- would be impressed by that headline, from this story.
"Restive," of course, is an old favorite here at Jihad Watch, though it usually crops up in stories about Thailand or Mindanao.
"Youths": And suburban youths, to boot. No demographic information can be included, so we're left to assume the Wii turned into a "non," (mais non!), and there was nothing left to do for the weekend.
Coverage like this is symptomatic of the media's hands-off approach to the most pressing issues facing Europe for the foreseeable future. On the brighter side, sometimes it's ripe for parody.

"Youths" is now the all-purpose euphemism to obfuscate ethnic and religious identity. This is clearly discriminatory. If young people rose up to protest this unconscionable assault on their collective integrity, we would have a whole new category of protected class. One wonders what euphemism the media would then resort to when reporting Muslim unrest?
I can just imagine: "Corporeal life forms riot and burn cars"!!!

a side note--reading in a free devotional put out by the Presbyterian church USA (shoulda known)--in the last section, they had quotes from famous Christians....seeing MLK's name made sense, especially since he was actually a preacher, but when they quoted Obama, I felt ill....I knew that PCUSA was already drinking the leftist kool aid (known as anti-Israel, pro-Palestinian stupidity), but this gave me another sick feeling in the pit of my stomach--they are elevating Obama to prophetic status.

Does this mean from now on, given the new purge in politically-correct newspeak, that we must refer to all perpetrators of islamic atrocities as "restive youths", providing that they have no grey hairs?

This was covered on FOX News, using virtually identical language. The only sign that something was a bit odd was that when they showed footage of burning cars and buses, that the side of the bus was emblazoned with Arabic script.
Apparently this rioting was, once again, over French police having arrested a "youth". Jihad rioting and violence, most likely, over the arrest of a Muslim criminal or Jihadist.
