Hamas can now tell gullible Western officials that it is fighting against "extremism"!
Out-Heroding Herod Update: "Leader of Al-Qaida Inspired Group in Gaza Killed," by VOA News, August 15:
The leader of an al-Qaida-inspired Palestinian group in Gaza is dead following a gunbattle that killed 22 people and wounded more than 120.Hamas officials said Saturday hardline cleric Abdel-Latif Moussa - the leader of Jund Ansar Allah ("Soldiers of the Followers of God") was killed in an explosion Saturday morning. It was not immediately clear if the blast was set off by Hamas forces or militants holed up inside Moussa's home.
On Friday, Moussa declared Gaza an Islamic emirate and called for the implementation of strict Sharia (Islamic) law in a challenge to Hamas, which rules Gaza.
Hamas security forces then engaged in an hours-long battle at a mosque in the southern town of Rafah to put down the uprising....
Jund Ansar Allah is one of a handful of small, extremist groups that have criticized Hamas for its cease-fire with Israel, and demanded the imposition of a strict form of Islam in Gaza.
Although Hamas is an Islamist movement, observers say its focus on Palestinian nationalism sets it apart from al-Qaida's goals of broad religious war....
Close Islam upon itself and it will sink into internecine 'purification' till everyone is dead.
According to the BBC, Hamas were bravely restoring calm in the face of these upstart 'radlcals'.
I think it's criminal the way we haven't given these good people a state yet!
There certainly are a lot of Islamic misunderstanders who have not a clue about the part that says not to kill other Muslims...you would suspect those who study Islam would know and practice what they preach...especially regarding each other

I apologize for the multiple posts, it was unintentional ...
I'm waiting for the international outcry, and protests of Islamophobia because the mosque was desecrated...
isn't it a shame, a real shame, that a battle took place at a mosque?
One lot of Muslim Mobsters fighting another lot of Muslim Mobsters. We don't have a dog in this fight.
Memo to all journalists and politicians in the non-Muslim world. A mosque is not a church. A mosque is a Gang Hideout.
A piece of advice for anyone new here who hasn't used typepad. As you will have seen, you cannot edit a post after it appears in the Comments.
Therefore, if you intend to submit a posting, it is a good idea to compose it externally (on, say, a Word document on your hard disk) and then copy it into the comments box and post, only *after* you have carefully read it through and are satisfied with the wording.
How refreshing that it looks like al-Qaida is finally wearing out it's welcome.
Seems that the peoples of different countries are waking up to the fact that al-Qaida intends to take over and subdue their countries/peoples under their rule. Hopefully, soon all the countries will end their stay and blow their cover.
Looks like Hamas learned the lesson of Pakistan...give them an inch and they will take the whole country.
Back to ye old style comments.....hmmm
double cheers
first one is for returning to TypePad
second one is for the bunch of jihadis killing each other over there in gaza
"How refreshing that it looks like al-Qaida is finally wearing out it's welcome."
Congrats, Sunstriker, for seeing the glass as half-full, but I still see it as half-empty. Hamas is no bunch of peaceniks. Neither is Hezbollah. Neither is Islamic Jihad, the PLA or any other "liberation" group.
Hamas killed a rival. That's not cause for celebration. It's business as usual.
"Although Hamas is an Islamist movement, observers say its focus on Palestinian nationalism sets it apart from al-Qaida's goals of broad religious war...."
Six of one, half dozen of the other. An Islamist movement is still rooted in the tenets of Islam. Palestinian nationalism today, but what tomorrow? As an Islamist movement, it can't make peace with the enemies of Allah, can it?
As an Islamist movement, can Hamas countenance the existence of Israel? Religious war is religious war.
PMK - re your posting above at 5:16 pm. You are correct.
Indeed, the paragraph you cited
"Although Hamas is an Islamist movement, observers say its focus on Palestinian nationalism sets it apart from al-Qaida's goals of broad religious war...."
is very badly written. Run it through the jihadwatch decoder that we all learn to use, and it comes out like this:
"although Hamas is a typical jihad gang, observers claim that its current focus on a local and strategic goal (destroying the Jewish state of Israel and replacing it with a sharia-compliant Muslim-dominated state) sets it apart from Al-Qaeda which is focused on the broader long-term goal of conquering the whole world for Islam".
Another day at the Gaza office.
Another day at the Gaza office.
Another day at the Gaza office.
I certainly hope that al-Qaida will retaliate for this craven attack on its valiant soldiers of Islam by the Hamas deviants.
Crips versus Bloods. Enjoying every minute of it.
The BBC initially reported that a child inside the mosque was killed during Hamas' assault. Later, the dispatch was rewritten and the child was labeled a "civilian".
The Beeb strikes again. Imagine the reporting if a child had been killed in an Israeli assault?

The answer to the muslim problem unfolds.
These people hate each other as much as everyone else they also hate. A sad faith to follow.
Great news
Kill and be killed says the Qur'an.
test
This is a sad story all around. Sad that the killing continues for allah in the form of 'who's islam is better', Sad that the so-called holy buildings are being used for gang hideouts (thanks, DDA) and sheltering children during firefights.
Even sadder is that it is not unexpected or all that unusual other than the size and access to reporters.
And maybe the saddest of all, nobody is making a big noise about this. Maybe that's good, let them have at it.
Those who live by the Jihad will die by the Jihad. Good riddance to both. Let the peacemakers stand tall.
Another leader dies - how many will spring up in his stead? Muslim factions are like Hydras - cut off one head and two more spring up in its place. The only consolation is that the more of them there are, the more likely they are to fight each other.
I love it when they start killing each other, it means they are not killing us. Is there any means we can perpetuate this till all the Hamas, etc are gone. Suggestions please

Isolate them and give them guns, big guns, and lots of ammo.
Allah hu Akbar ! the "Comments" are back!...
Hamas kills El Qaida? Good! (No competition allowed!).
Hamas was 'Democratically' elected, and "Democratically" it will stay for ever!
After all, thy have more then 800 tunnels to make sure that it will remain so! Right?..
Wrong!! They don't see the 800 tunnels El Qaida is digging right now under their own...
There are no traffic lights in Gaza! The firs set will be installed "Under-grond" !...
When the 'traffic light's down there' will become operational, the now days Horrors in Teheran, will look like wedding fantasies compared to the carnage that will take place in Gaza!
Even now, Gaza looks like a slice of 'Swiss Chees' ! All that is left to do, is to take a bite and chew it!..
Abdel-Latif Moussa has done the world a favour by eliminating himself from the gene pool :)
But it's weird to see these groups out-radical each other...
Palestinian nationalism is plenty ugly enough :(

The thing about the Islamists: you can never appease them. No matter how crazy you go, there will always be someone who will accuse you of not being crazy enough.

If these pests stop killing innocent people and concentrate on exterminating each other, the world would be a much happier place.
