Lockerbie bomber is terminally ill, to be released early

After all, he still might have time to get in one last jihad terror attack before he goes on to his virgins.

"Lockerbie bomber 'to be released,'" from the BBC, August 13 (thanks to all who sent this in):

The Libyan man convicted of the Lockerbie bombing is likely to be freed on compassionate grounds next week, the BBC understands.

Abdelbaset Ali al-Megrahi, who has terminal prostate cancer, is serving life for murdering 270 people when Pan Am flight 103 exploded in 1988.

Scottish ministers described the development as "complete speculation".

Kathleen Flynn, whose son died on the plane, told the BBC she was horrified the "terrorist" could be released.

She added that he showed no mercy as he planted his bomb and should "never qualify for anything compassionate".

"Did Megrahi as he planted a bomb on a US airliner reflect on any compassion for the people he was about to blow up out of the skies and the people on the ground in Lockerbie? I think not," she said....

Here are most of the comments that were made for this, on IntDeb, when it was first put up for consideration.

REACHER said - His release is speculative at the moment, though speaking as a Scotsman, Justice Minister Kenny MacAskill is stupid enough to do it. I worked and stayed in Lockerbie many, many times and missed the disaster by two weeks so maybe I am prejudiced, but I think they should let him rot in prison. He is hardly being kept in harsh conditions anyway and has access to the finest health care available. His family have a house payed for by the Libyan Government in an upmarket suburb of Glasgow, Newton Mearns. So I don't fall for this wanting to be near his family crap.

BONESHACK said - I always thought the object of "Life in prison" meant to die while in prison. Now, how that death comes about, is to me, irrelevant.

PMK said - There was a time when "life in prison" meant you would breathe your last breath IN PRISON. No one aboard that Lockerbie flight got a reprieve.

FINDALIS said - What compassion did he have for the crew and passengers of Pan Am Flight 103 and the people of Lockerbie, Scotland? None. Scotland and the world should have no comassion for him. Let him die in prison.

KAFFIRKANUCK said - I see nobody here so far noticed that they released Ronnie BIggs of the Great Train Robbery ahead of Ali al-Megrahi to set a precedent in order to let this mass murderer go. It was very aptly played on the BBC. First there was the story of Ali al-Megrahi being diagnosed as terminally ill, with a side play to let him die with his family. A couple of days later, low and behold, a modern robin hood of the Train Robbery (well, not really a robin hood, but at the very least, a born and breed Britton), is soon to die also and should he be let out after serving many more years than Ali al-Megrahi to spend his last days out of jail. As soon as it was ruled that Biggs could be let out, I knew they'd let the Lockerbie bomber go. As if one crime matches the other.

I agree with pmk. Life in prison means just that. He deserves to die in the hell he hath created.

And, my father died of prostate cancer. When they gave him 9 months, he lasted 9 years, for reason I will surely not post in case word of his additional longevity should make it to Ali al-Megrahi.

If the wankers who are letting him go really have some compassion, they should let Ali al-Megrahi's relatives visit him in prison at his death bed after they have gone through the gauntlet of the families who were killed by his hand.

"Lockerbie bomber Megrahi's release from prison is a national disgrace"

http://blogs.telegraph.co.uk/news/concoughlin/100...

TOMMO2 said - The weak British government are hoping to release al-Megrahi in time for Ramadan which he would spend with his family in Libya. The final smack in the face for all grieving relatives of the murdered will be al-Megrahi's hero's welcome in Libya followed by his miraculous recovery from supposedly terminal prostate cancer which, unless it has spread to his spine or organs, can be controlled by drugs for years. .

HIMSELF said - This "compassionate release" lie is a thin veil for the real quid pro quo. The Lockerbie bomber's release is merely another jizya payment on Kaddafi's terrorist extortion demand for securing release of his raped and tortured EU nurse hostages.

FLASHBACK 2007: Qaddafi Wants Money and Lockerbie Attacker for Nurses' Release
http://www.novinite.com/view_news.php?id=75328

Muammar Qaddafi has officially stated his conditions for the release of the five Bulgarian nurses and a Palestinian doctor sentenced to death in Libya, a website of the Libyan opposition claims.

Cited by the Bulgarian national radio, the site claims that Qaddafi has sent an official note to the EU country members and the US, requesting compensations for the families of the HIV-infected children and the release of the terrorist from Lockerbie... The UK should help with the release of the Lockerbie bomber, the note also says. He could be released because he has already served his sentence, or he could receive amnesty, or be extradited to Libya, Qaddafi suggests.

/once again, terrorism pays... handsomely

So let's add up some of Kaddafi's jizya booty so far;

EU $400 million (includes Bulgaria's $57M ransom)

French nuclear reactor deal (+ military hardware)

EU free trade (+ political normalization)

Brand new US Ambassador + date w/ Condi

A handshake and UN podium w/ Obama

Lockerbie bomber's release... PRICELESS

[Oh yes, terrorism still pays... handsomely]

"Abdelbaset Ali al-Megrahi, who has terminal prostate cancer,"
