COPENHAGEN - A Saudi lawyer has demanded a public apology from a number of Danish dailies that reprinted a controversial cartoon of Prophet Mohammed in February 2008, Danish media reported on Sunday.The lawyer, identified as Faisal A.Z. Yamani from Jeddah, sent an email to the newspapers that republished the drawing first printed in 2005 and demanded that they print an apology by the end of September, Danish news agency Ritzau reported.
"It should be a clear, public and unconditional apology for the offence and harm caused by their newspaper," Yamani wrote, demanding that the statement appear in the first three pages of the newspaper and in four languages, Danish, French, English and Arabic.
The caricature features Prophet Mohammed's head with a turban designed to look like a bomb with a lit fuse.
It was one of 12 cartoons first published in a Danish newspaper in 2005 and which sparked violent protests across the Muslim world in early 2006.
It was reprinted in mid-February 2008 by some 17 newspapers after Danish police foiled an alleged plot to kill the cartoonist, again triggering angry reactions in numerous Muslim countries.
They were angry, mind you, over the reprinting of the Motoon, not over the plot to kill the cartoonist.
And of course, the thuggery is ever present:

And when those cartoons were published and, after a while, the Muslims decided to make an issue of it, they not only made death threats against Danes, and attacked Danish institutions abroad, but also instituted a boycott of Danish products.
Quaere: will the government of Denmark behave in the pusillanimous fashion of, for example, the government of Scotland (taking its cue from the government of Great Britain) or will the Danish government stand firm?
I think it will stand firm. I think in Denmark, and everywhere in Western Europe, people are awakening, and are furious, and determined to undo the damage they have quite unnecessarily inflicted on themselves with the millions of Muslims in their midst.
I hope you are right, Hugh, that Europe is finally getting some balls. We'll see. A good indication of that could be a new Motoon every week in a major newspaper in Europe. After all, next to crushing evil, the second best thing is to mock it.

A Danish court on in 2006 acquitted daily Jyllands-Posten in a civil case brought by Muslim organizations that accused it of slander for printing cartoons of the Prophet Mohammad that triggered widespread Muslim anger.
The Aarhus municipal court found in favor of Jyllands-Posten and ordered the seven Danish Muslim organizations who sued it to pay the paper’s court expenses.
The plaintiffs have appealed to a higher court.
And lost again!
"Anything but a clear acquittal would have been a catastrophe for freedom of the press and the media’s ability to fulfill its role in a democratic society," Jyllands-Posten editor Carsten Juste said on the paper’s Web site. "You can think what you want about the cartoons, but the newspaper’s unassailable right to print them has been set by both the country’s prosecutors and the court system."
The ruling said that some of the cartoons do not depict the Prophet or have a religious subject, while others fall outside of the scope of slander laws.
The court did find that three of the cartoons, including one that depicted the Prophet with a bomb in its turban, did not clearly fall outside of what the law could deem as insulting.
"Of course it cannot be excluded that the drawings offended some Muslims," the court said in its ruling. "But there is no sufficient reason to assume that the cartoons are or were intended to be insulting… or put forward ideas that could hurt the standing of Muslims in society."
Thats a weak position by the court. Whatever the purpose the Muslims should show tolerance because the right to criticize and ridicule any religion or ideology must be a fundamental right in a democracy.
Apologies for motoons? No ways. And we should tell him why.

I guess the muslims are bored and need another reason to riot and kill. Maybe there is another old nun they have in their sights. I thought that their koran gave them enough of a reason to do that.
I find the behavior of muslims everywhere to be inexcusable in regards to the cartoons. We should be printing them and displaying them as often as possible. Just as they display cartoons of Jews and others in their school texts and in other places - once again, everyone falls silent.

LOL, i have the cartoon of Muhammed with a bomb in his turban as a screensaver on my computer and as a background on my you tube page and when hell freezes over and the muslims start apologising about the countless deaths in the name of islam that's when i will be thinking about offering the muslims my apologies.
Personally i think that the cartoonist who drew this cartoon is a genius. On the bomb is written the first pillar of islam and in my opinion that dogma (first pillar: there is no god but allah and muhammed is his prophet) is the cause of countless deaths because with that first pillar islam refuses to acknowledge that other religious traditions can also be true and have valid points. That first pillar proves that islam in it's core is intolerant about other religious traditions, and even amongst the different islamic sects there is much hate and intolerance because one sect thinks that they are the only true islam and the others are false f.e. the sunni-shia killings.
It is because of the first pillar and the muslim believe that they have the duty to spread their 'religion' all over the world and convert as many non-muslims as possible (by whatever means) to islam that they started jihad campaigns to force islam down the troaths of the non-muslims.
This is a golden opportunity for Danes to

How old is this silly incident now? You would think it happened yesterday but that isn't surprising. Muslims carry on like the Crusades happened last week but never mention the fact that they fired the opening salvo. What a shame they weren't permanently removed from the Holy Land by those nasty Crusaders. Imagine the peace that might exist today if they had been run back to their barren wastelands and and kept there, forcibly if necessary.
If an apology had been appropriate, it would have been offered long ago, so I doubt this slimy Saudi's demand will be met. Muslims are the world's champion grudge holders and innocent bystanders cum victims. Poor things, they just can't get any respect or justice.
