"Pakistan: No Military Campaign Against the Taliban," by Bobby Ghosh for Time, August 28 (thanks to John):
Despite strenuous entreaties by top U.S. officials, Pakistan has abandoned plans to mount a military offensive against the terrorist group responsible for a two-year campaign of suicide bombings across the country. Although the Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) has been in disarray since an Aug. 5 missile strike from a CIA-operated drone killed its leader, Baitullah Mehsud, the Pakistani military has concluded that a ground attack on its strongholds in South Waziristan would be too difficult....
Let's hope the Obama administration abandons the jizya.

they had plans....????
Pakistan is playing the bait and switch game. It does not want to upset the Muslims.
Hey Jewcat,
I've had enough hope (and change) from O already. I'm not hoping for anything else from him.
Let's hope the Obama administration abandons the jizya.

Won't happen unless Obama apostatizes from Islam.
From the article: "Why the Pakistani government keeps returning to this strategy [cutting peace deals with 'terrorist leaders'] is a mystery," said a U.S. counterterrorism official.
Moorthy S. Muthuswamy suggested that's just nonsense in "Defeating Political Islam". According to him, the motto of Pakistan's army affirms or prescribes jihad, or something to this effect as I recall from my reading the book several weeks ago. He also calls Pakistan a member nation of an "Axis of Jihad" which includes Saudi Arabia and Iran.
If so, two allies of the USA are jihadist organizations.
The book has other fascinating details. See http://www.moorthymuthuswamy.com/
The solution is.....? Yes, that is right, more money from the United States. Those free handouts of billions of dollars. We have lot to hand out to this sorry and pathetic piece of land that is in complete ruins since Mohammedans partitioned and stole it. Islam that perpetual virus of misery and death.

"Business as usual" it is!
I don't think they were ever interested in fighting the Taliban ever.
Their goals are the same, they just use different methods.
BO is a sell out who really doesn't care if Islam continues to creep into the civilized West. He'll just fund the Mohammedans interest and tell us here in the USA how we just don't understand the peaceful beauty of Islam and Dar al Islam.

Great, after all that trouble with IntenseDebacle, now we're having trouble again with TypePad.
They can put a man on the moon, they can make billionaires out of pimply nerds over at Google and spazzes with bad haircuts like Bill Gates with his wife who wouldn't have married him if he didn't have money -- but they can't make a goshfricking goldurned comments system that works?

I'm not entirely certain...but I am fairly certain...that Bush is no longer President, and cannot be held accountable for the actions of the present administration, though he did some really stupid things.
So, attacks in that area would be too difficult. What I find difficult, is believing that it's a matter of logistics.
I think that any attacks in that area would lead to the deaths of large numbers of muslims, and THAT would make it difficult. It seems obvious to me...
islam is a lie and
Truth is killing it.
'Twas NOW surely gone, you thought - but lo! BDS lives on! and on and on and on and on... and on
Alaskan,
Where were you when, instead of putting it on notice, Bush made this terrorist country, Pakistan, an ally in the phony 'war-on-terror'?
Americans are easily shamed into submission and can't remember what happened on or after 9/11, which explains why they re-elected Bush and then, elected 'God D**n America' Obama:

Davegreybeard,
Looks like you have forgotten who pissed on America on, 9/17:

In fairness to Pakistan, at least they pretended to fight the mujahideen before giving in. What is Britain's excuse?
Alert,
I have never claimed that Bush did everything right, just that he got a lot more things right than he got wrong. Your example of the “Islam is peace” speech is one of the things he got very wrong. It is also the very thing that spurred me to study Islam on my own – this because his words did not explain the actions of Jihadis around the world.
What you seem to fail to realize and acknowledge is all the things that Bush did to keep your whinny ass safe for the past 7 years. Let’s see how the great lord Rasulallahhaha does in that regard.
Wanna place any bets?

Obviously you have your party-politics glasses on. I have never even indicated that Rasulallahhaha would be better than Bush, 9/11 president, who sold the fake 'war-on-terror', taking terrorists as allies, is better. That is a false thought process. Only patriots/statesmen like Tom Tancredo are good for America. Not clinton, Barry, Bushs........ comparing one corrupt politician to another is a slippery slide Americans have got themselves into and are paying a price for. Infact, Americans are like a frog who seems to like the water heating up, until it starts boiling and has nowhere to go, while disregarding patriotic statesmen like Tom Tancredo.
I will list again, where Bush faulted.. nay, where Americans faulted in electing Bush
- Americans elected a spoilt, corrupt, rich, AWOL brat who was in both.. Saudi and Meixan pockets. Look at the big picture and Bush has rammed down illegals down Americans throats by spitting the 'Job Americans do not take lies' and pissed on Americasns with the 'Islam is peace' lies. Add to that the coverup of Saudis, who got off the law-suit thanks to their 'ally' status'.
Only arguement Americans have is that Kerry was worse. Sliding down the slippery sloap, Americans disregarded a patriot in Tom Tancredo.
Tancredo had the right answer to both:
- Illegal Immigration.
- Islam.
Americans missed their chance to recover.
Fact is that no amount of covering up for Bush or Clinton or Barry is going to Make Americans any safe.
Again, sorry I do not have my party-politics glasses on so, while we may be discussing the elephant, you from the trunk and me from the tail, not the same thng, if you see my point.
Take it easy............
Alert,
When you can give me as list of things that Bush got right, without the predictable BDS rant, you MAY have recovered. My bet is that you are incapable of this – but it would be a pleasant surprise.
It’s early yet, but my prediction is that the failures of Bush will be exceeded by Rasulallhahaha by orders of magnitude, that will astonish everyone.
"Pakistan abandons plans for military push against Taliban" -- Headline
This must mean the annual jizya check has cleared the bank. Pakistan promised just enough activity to induce us to write the check, but now feels no need to make good on the promises it made. This has happened before. As aspacia above has correctly noted, it is a game of bait and switch the Pakistanis are playing. So why do we let ourselves be continually suckered into playing it?
Davegreybeard,
One thing that Bush did right was to remove Saddam.
Alert,
I am surprised at your comment. I would have guessed (wrongly it seems) that you would have been against the war from the start – as Hugh and some others were.
So how do you feel about Bush’s policy in Iraq after the invasion? Obvious failures for a while there, but the “surge” did seem to work – if you think it’s beneficial to keep Iraq stable.
Davegreybeard,
Given Saddam was brazenly defying IAEA inspectors and firing at survelliance flights in Northern Iraq, his definace had to be challanged. Any resistance should have been crushed, as was done. Full credit to Bush for that. Entire world commended POTUS Bush for removing Saddam.
But hidden behind this resounding victory, was Bush's motive to protect Saudis, from 9/11 allegations (with lies of WMD) and from Saddam, rather than punish Saddam for his defiance. It is the WMD lies that USA is paying a heavy price by way of dollars, lives and blood. The root of these lies is Saudi petro-dollars Bush was sold to, which turned a resounding victory in Iraq, into a dismal failure.
By then, Saudis and Bush had achieved the objective of turning Saudi terrorists into allies, no matter how much money, blood and lives, this cover-up cost America.
Huummm.
If Bush was doing it (removing Saddam) to protect the Saudis and to get a fat chunk of their cash, how does he then “get full credit” for doing it?
Do money grubbing, lying, traitorous bastards usually get “full credit” for doing something incidentally, while pursuing their nefarious aims - or is Bush special in this regard?
I’m a little confused here.
Davegreybeard,
If Bush was doing it (removing Saddam) to protect the Saudis and to get a fat chunk of their cash, how does he then “get full credit” for doing it?
....... Becase Saddam and his regime were brutal on his Iraqis. Thus, removal of Saddam was the right thing to do, for which Bush got full credit. However, Gulf War II was started, after 9/11, using 9/11, on the lies of WMDs.
In summary:
- Removal of Saddam, the right thing (well known at that time)).
- Lies of WMDs in Iraq, wrong thing (unknown at that time).
Do money grubbing, lying, traitorous bastards usually get “full credit” for doing something incidentally, while pursuing their nefarious aims - or is Bush special in this regard?
........ Yes, the two can happen concurrently, as it did. Read real info (Scott McKlalen's 'What Really Happened' / Vince Bugliosi's 'Prosecution of G W Bush for murder)
Now, let me ask:
- Why was Saudi Arabia not given notice (let me remind that 15 of the 19 hijackers were Saudis).
- Why was Bin Ladens / other Saudis plane allowed to fly when ALL flights in US were grounded?
- Why wern't Saudi assets in USA, frozen, after 9/11?
- Why was Saudi Arabia, known to fund international terror, and executed 9/11, and produced Bin Laden, made an 'ally' in the 'war-on-terror'?
- Why was 'Bin Laden Unit' in CIA, closed?
- Finally, where are the WMDs, the given reason for Iraq war?
Above questions go to the heart of 9/11 presidency and election of Obama.
I commented that if you could give me a list of things that GW got right WITHOUT the BDS rant, that you MAY have recovered.
You were able to give me one item. Then followed it in your next post with the predictable BDS ranting and raving.
Sorry buddy, you will probably never be rational.
I’m afraid your BDS is terminal – and that’s a shame.
Take their nukes, then.
They can't be trusted.
