Yet another honor killing, while ignorant American officials doubt the possibility that such a thing could happen in the United States.
In 2003 the Jordanian Parliament voted down on Islamic grounds a provision designed to stiffen penalties for honor killings. Al-Jazeera reported that "Islamists and conservatives said the laws violated religious traditions and would destroy families and values."

A MAN has been charged with shooting dead his pregnant sister for marrying without family permission, after luring her to another brother's wedding in a conspiracy with him, police say."The 30-year-old suspect shot his 23-year-old pregnant sister, who worked as a nurse, four times in the head and other parts of her body on Wednesday, while she was attending the wedding of another brother," a police spokesman said today.
"The mother of a baby boy got married two years ago without the family's permission after she ran away from home" in Madaba, south of the capital Amman, he said.
Police said that the woman's brothers "agreed to kill her in revenge".
"The men assured their sister that she would not be hurt and lured her to attend the wedding. The suspect killed her there, while her other two brothers severely beat the husband," the source said.
The key suspect has been charged with premeditated murder, and the other two as accessories.
Murder is punishable by the death penalty in Jordan, but in the case of so-called "honour killings", a court usually commutes or reduces sentences, particularly if the victim's family urges leniency.
About 15 to 20 women are murdered each year in Jordan in the name of honour, despite government efforts to fight such crimes. Parliament has refused to reform the penal code to ensure harsher penalties....

Very, very typical of these kinds of cases. It isn't a 'crime of passion' as we understand such things in the west. A plan is made, lies are told, the victim is deceived and betrayed, all quite coldly and deliberately.
A pregnant woman, shot four times in the head and in other parts of her body, *by her own brother*.
A ghastly ritual sacrifice for allah; a sacrifice to psychopathic sadistic male pride. What cannot be absolutely controlled, is such an *affront* that it must be publicly annihilated.
It seems to me that in dar al Islam, every woman, from birth, lives under a temporarily commuted sentence of Death. At any moment the men in her life - brothers, fathers, cousins, husband once she marries, or even some random man she does not even know - may decide, usually for purely imaginary reasons, that she must be killed; and killed she will be.
And from Jan. 2010 Jordan will be a Partnercountry to EU - and the rest of the 9 arabic-islamic Middlesee-countries will also be Partners to EU !

How many times have we heard this sort of thing? This is not a "crime of passion", it is first degree murder--and, moreover, it is a family affair, since both brothers conspired to kill their sister.
This brother, also, was happy to have his own wedding marred by the murder of his sister--and her unborn child--by his brother, and the brutal beating of his brother-in-law--all with his complicity.
Not exactly most people's memories of their happy wedding day--but that is probably the point. Where else might this poor dead woman and her husband have felt safe in the presence of her murderous family?
Once again, savagery and "revenge" trump joy in the Muslim world.
The parties involved should be charged as participants or accessories to first degree murder. No leniency should given if there is a successful conviction.

Commuting a death sentence simply because the victim's family "urges leniency" doesn't look like "government efforts to fight such crimes".
When the victim's family and the perpetrator are one and the same, urging leniency comes across as utterly self-serving.

Well, no conservative that I know of would agree with this stance. If they are talking ISLAMIC conservatives then that is different. It is usually the lefties that take this sort of stance on islamic idiocies.

And as for an 'honor killing' being a 'family value' well, then they need to be destroyed.
The family values of honor killings should be totally destroyed. And there are so many differences between this and another phenomenon of the lone whack job who kills his family and sometimes himself.
- honor killings are usually planned, sometimes there will be death threats, and it is against their females (they feel they own their females as property) of their household
- domestic violence is usually a spontaneous event carried out by men of all faiths, or no faith. Although the violence before the killing might have gone on for years.
- honor killings can also include the mother and other children if it is against their girl children.
- domestic violence is only done by one
- hk is usually violent, barbaric (beheadings, torture, etc)
- domestic violence is usually done with a single shot, stab wounds.
- the extended family and community valorize the honor killing. They do not condemn the perpetrators in the name of Islam. Mainly, honor killings are seen as normative.
- the perpetrator of domestic violence is seen as a criminal. Sometimes the mother of the perp might not see her son as a disgusting individual but that mother is probably a whack job too.
- The murderer(s) do not show remorse. Instead, they experience themselves as "victims," defending themselves from the girl's actions and trying to restore their lost family honor. (muslims are used to being victims - they are our world's experts at it)
- in domestic violence the perp might express remorse or regret.
Islam is the killer, the Mohammedans are merely its blind tools.

HMMMM...she was 21 at the time...I see..In Islam , if you are a female...even an adult female..you never have any right to be an independent human being, you never have any right to make your own decisions, you never have the right to an individual identity,...you are just property of the Muslim male who is sickened by the idea that you ...as a female...can make your own decisions without seeking the Muslim male permission. You, as a Muslim female are expected to do nothing, say nothing, think nothing without first getting permission...otherwise you just may be killed for causing "dishonor".
The majority of these "honor killings" victims are female...and mostly young females....as young Muslim females find out more about the world and discover Islam isn't all it is cracked up to be...you will more and more "honor killings" as these young women want to be independent and free from the shackles of Islam...Islam is losing its control over its women..
