Wafa Sultan: "Unfortunately Rifqa Bary’s case highlights the danger of creeping Jihad in the Western world"

Dr. Wafa Sultan, who famously spoke the truth to a Muslim cleric on Al-Jazeera, is a Syrian-born certified psychiatrist, human rights activist, and author of the forthcoming book A God That Hates. Here, she speaks out about the Rifqa Bary case.

Unfortunately Rifqa Bary’s case highlights the danger of creeping Jihad in the Western world. This is not only because of the imminent danger the teenage girl may face right here in the US, had the court decided to have her return to her parents’ home, but also because of the mainstream media’s weak response to the severity of this case. Regrettably, the lack of interest by the media in covering her case comes at the expense of the public’s responsibility to learn the truth about Islam’s detrimental Sharia (Islamic Law) tenets.

I was born and raised as a Muslim in Syria. I practiced Islam for thirty years of my life. Now I am a known human rights activist striving to save our future Muslim generations from the impact of the violent, hateful Islamic doctrines embedded in the Sharia. My life is also threatened, not only by my own extended family, but by countless men who consider themselves devout Muslims. Under Sharia, if a Muslim leaves Islam or converts to another religion he / she is an “apostate,” to be killed. Under Sharia every Muslim has the right to kill such an apostate without any questions asked.

After hearing the story of Rifqa Bary I urge well meaning American citizens to take action and keep this innocent girl out of her family’s reach. There are all kinds of reasons to believe that she will be harmed both emotionally and physically, or worse—be killed—once her family has charge of her. Our Western court system must be educated on Islamic apostasy laws to understand Rifqa Bary’s predicament, and the plight of all those like her who choose to leave Islam.

I therefore implore our court authorities who are involved in this case: take notice and listen to individuals like myself. Keeping Rifqa protected and away from her family is the proper way to go both legally and morally.

I'm not sure if they exist already but there ought to be (and you could only have them in the West), shelters and homes for Muslims, especially women, who have converted to another religion or just left Islam altogether.

Furthermore, I can't wait for the usual knee-jerk reactions from leftists and Muslim apologists against Wafa Sultan saying she is an "Islamophobe" for criticising Islam and Sharia law. Kind of hard to argue that when she's practiced Islam for 30 years and knows everything back to front. Eat it.

Wafa Sultan was great! ...she was concise and courageous!

This is a sad case, so full of lies and hidden intent. It is also a case that shows how hard it is for Western authorities to understand the entirely incompatible differences between our understanding of family and religion and the Islamic concepts.

I fear for this young girl's existence. She is in real danger from her family and devout Muslims who may take it upon themselves to carry out what they have been taught.

I cannot help but suspect that this may turn out badly.

...and notice that the only thing that the Islamic cleric was interested in knowing during the debate was whether or not she was an apostate. He had nothing to say regarding the merits of the points she was making, but only wanted her to admit to being an apostate. Why? To legitimize murdering her, Islamic style. Islam is evil.

I have a lot of respect and admiration for Wafa Sultan and others like her.
I am grateful that she has spoken out for this young lady, Rifqa Bary.

I am uncertain that the US courts will listen, however. They are as dhimmified as the rest of the leftist population.

Regarding shelters...here, in Canada, we have "shelters for battered women" but I am unaware of any "shelters for apostates of Islam". There really should be the creation of such shelters perhaps sponsored by the church group(s).

Courts in this country are not going to listen for 2 reasons
The first one is the lack of knowledge of the Sharia law among judges and lawyers. A course on Sharia law should be required for every law student.

The second one is the corruption
In some states especially in Tennessee , there is no accountability for judges.Custody of children is awarded to the highest bidder even if he is a terrorist , an abuser or a drug dealer.
With the system of selection for judges instead of election as required by the Constitution .predatory lawyers can afford to put on the bench the lawyer of their choice and shut up the legislature.

This is what happened recently in the state of Tennessee. An unconstitutional plan for selection of judges was supposed to sunset in June but 2 lawyers members of the legislature Senator Norris and Woodson found a way to keep shredding the Constitution and keep the plan alive.

The only chance that the young girl will have to escape death is the advertisement made by Robert or Wafa. If anything should happen to her, the finger will point right at her parents and I dont think they would like it.
We must work to elect officials not only with some integrity but also with some real knowledge of the danger of Islam and the Sharia law.

Regarding the lack of interest in this case by the MSM and womens-rights groups. Perhaps if she claimed she were pregnant and her father refused to let her have an abortion then she might get more support.

A shelter for apostates?

Hmm ....... wouldn't that be Islamophobia?

CAIR would certainly say why not a shelter for apostates from Christianity, or other religions? Of course they'd conveniently forget that other religions don't commandeer their people to kill apostates.

I hope to GoD she runs away from her foster home. It's the only way to save her. Lots of kids do it. Better to be on the street than dead. The pastor should help her find undergound passage.

An Islamic authority is supposed to order an apostate killed...Lacking that central authority, it becomes the duty of any pious Mahound to kill the apostate...This has a double benefit as an 'honor killing'...This girl needs to be protected from her family and all pious Mahounds...not turned over to them...

Tragically, it looks as though she will be returned home. Yes, she should run away. I will say it again and again. Nothing good comes from publicizing her case, for the following reasons:

1. We need an underground railroad, which depends upon secrecy and silence in order to be successful.
2. In our sound-byte news culture, she will be sent home with a lot of bruhaha, and then silence. People will forget about her, and when the time is right, she will be sent off, or killed.
3. We must learn from history. Jews were secretly hidden. Slaves were secretly sent north and also hidden. In publicizing this, the message in the Muslim world is this: Christians are kidnapping Muslim girls and brainwashing them. Such is now being said throughout the Muslim world. This may trigger the justification for kidnapping Coptic and Christian girls throughout the middle east and forcing them to convert to Islam.
4. We must understand at last, having seen what happened to Elian Gonzalez, what will likely be the case for all girls and apostates escaping from their families when going through the legal process for protection. It isn't subversion of the law to protect those who are endangered. It is holding to a higher law in saving those whose lives are in peril.

BREAKING NEWS: off topic 5:45PST

Fox News Just had an excellent piece on 17 year old Rifqa Bary’s plight to protect her life from the threat of death by sharia law because she converted to Christianity. Frank Gaffney commented on the death threats to her.----atlas shruggs was noted in his comments----

GOOD FOR FOX doing this----

"In our sound-byte news culture, she will be sent home with a lot of bruhaha, and then silence. People will forget about her, and when the time is right, she will be sent off, or killed."

Yes, a likely outcome, assuming she's sent back to her family, is that after a while the family will return to Sri Lanka, and she'll be married to her uncle Abdul, who will beat the bejesus out of her.

I sent the following letter to Governor Crist:

HideDear Governor Crist, I am writing to implore you to help guide a legal and just outcome for Rifqa Bary. She is truly in peril if she is returned to her family. She has endured years of beatings, being forced to wear the hijab, hiding her faith, and surrounded by attendees of a mosque whose leaders espouse the most vile, racists and exceptionalist views. This is documented. I am not particularly religious, and I don't care whether she escaped to Pastor Lorenz or to a youth shelter: she should be protected at all costs from her family, and the justness of the American government should be a beacon to all Americans. A child who has been threatened with damage or death should by all means be removed from her home, and sheltered if she leaves on her own. Her parents' lives are forfeit if they do not kill her, and they will probably try to make her leave the country to accomplish just that. It is usually the brother or uncles that does it, and her brother would then get a more lenient sentence due to his "youth". I propose an elegant solution: Could Ms. Bary simply file for emancipation, as I did as a seventeen-year old in Florida back in the eighties? She could then change her name and live wherever she likes and under anyone's protection or assistance should she need it. An underground railroad should exist for these girls, and in the guiding hand of our justice system. Please keep Rifqa safe; there have been so many killed already to satisfy blood claims for a barbaric society, safely esconced here in the United States. Thank you for your time, Governor, and I look forward to seeing you on the national stage soon; will you run for Mel Martinez's seat?

Kindest regards,]]

I just received the following reply:

Thank you for contacting Governor Charlie Crist and sharing your concerns about Ms. Fathima (Rifqa) Bary. The Governor asked that I
respond on his behalf.

Governor Crist is committed to protecting Ms. Bary's health, safety and welfare. Governor Crist directed the Secretary of the Department of Children and Families, George Sheldon, to petition the court for placement in shelter and custody under the Florida Department of Children and Family Services (Department). As a result, the court placed Ms. Bary in protective custody and she has been placed in a licensed foster care home under the supervision of the Department.

The Secretary of the Department of Children and Family Services and the Governor's General Counsel will be at today's court hearing. Please be assured Governor Crist will make a decision that is in the best interests of and ensures the continued health, safety and welfare of Ms.
Rifqa Bary.

Thank you again for taking the time to contact Governor Crist.

Sincerely,

Warren Davis

Here's an example of what the muslim street thinks of apostasy:

Watch the interplay between the questioning people, who want to be good and compassionate people, and the hardliners.

The questioners keep asking for answers, and are told that "questions lead to answers which lead to conclusions which lead to disbelief. So don't ask questions."

The moderator admonishes the thread for not accepting the basic concept of punishment for apostates. There is also an Ohioan poster, see post #9.

Winoceros -- I just received the same reply from Governor Crist's office -- thank you for posting it :)

I don't think they would care! If they could get their hands on her, they would kill her in public if they had to, with hundreds of witnesses. They have been utterly humiliated and disgraced because they could not control their daughter. They must now appease allah, the umma, and remove the stigma that blights their "honor". Their only recourse is to kill the person responsible for their miserable plight. Not only is she subject to execution for her conversion to Christianity, she is also condemned to death for the shame and embarrassment she has brought to bear on her family.

If they can get her back to Ohio, her death can be easily arranged. Any pious "brother" from the local mosque would be glad to climb into her bedroom window and butcher her as she sleeps. But her father might prefer to do it himself due to the severity of her "crimes", even if it means going to prison for the rest of his life. Family "honor" trumps everything, not to mention her unforgivable sin of converting to Christianity. I have read dozens of articles about honor killings in which the father proudly called the police and turned himself in after killing his daughter to restore family "honor".

If this girl is not returned to Ohio and killed, her family will probably leave the area. Their lives in Ohio will be irreparably damaged if their daughter lives.
