Brooklyn jihad suspect "became interested in the Koran and said he wanted to dedicate his life to God"

I happened to see that Jihad Watch readers in this thread were discussing this story, and noticed in it a detail that wasn't in the story I posted about this last week. He became interested in the Koran and eventually tried to join a jihad terrorist group. Why did someone who became interested in the Koran and wanted to serve Allah get involved in terrorism? Why are so many students of the Koran hardcore Misunderstanders of Islam? Why are such questions never asked, never answered, and consigned to "Islamophobia"?

"Brooklyn Man Is Accused of Trying to Aid Terrorists," by Ray Rivera for the New York Times, September 24 (thanks to Jihad Watch readers):

Federal officials announced charges against a Brooklyn man on Thursday, saying he traveled overseas intent on joining a terrorist group and fighting United States forces in Iraq, Afghanistan and the Balkans.

Authorities said the man, Betim Kaziu, 21, a former building porter who was born and raised in Brooklyn, flew from Kennedy International Airport to Cairo in February in the first leg of a journey he hoped would take him to Pakistan for militant training. Authorities said that while in Egypt he made repeated attempts to buy weapons and tried to join a terrorist group linked to Al Qaeda. In addition, authorities said, Mr. Kaziu made efforts to travel to Iraq, Afghanistan and the Balkans.

In a three-page indictment, unsealed Thursday in Federal District Court in Brooklyn, authorities said Mr. Kaziu eventually made it to Kosovo, where he was arrested by Kosovar law enforcement authorities in late August and returned to the United States.

He was charged with conspiracy to commit murder in a foreign country and conspiracy to provide material support to terrorists. If convicted, he could face life in prison....

The allegations shocked Mr. Kaziu's family in Brooklyn. "This is totally unlike him," said a sister, Sihana Kaziu, who added that he was never violent and had a "big heart." Ms. Kaziu said her brother, a Muslim, did not grow up particularly religious.

One of four siblings, he played football in high school before dropping out, she said. He later got his high school equivalency diploma and around age 18 became interested in the Koran and said he wanted to dedicate his life to God, a prospect that pleased his parents, she said. He told his family that he was going to Egypt to study Arabic, and kept in touch regularly by e-mail....

Brooklyn jihad suspect "became interested in the Koran and said he wanted to dedicate his life to God"

Correction: Brooklyn jihad suspect "became interested in the Koran and said it he wanted to dedicate his life to mahound's imaginary alter-ego. That's more like it.

If someone wants to dedicate their lives to an imaginary being, why not Sasquatch? Why not the Easter Bunny? Why not Saci Pererê, a little one-legged, pipe-smoking, red-hood-wearing prankster from the tales of forest and jungle creatures from Brazil? Why mahound's invisible version? Why this thing that Ali Sina described so precisely when he wrote:

The fact is that Muhammad was a liar. He could not say, I want power, I want money, I want women and I want you to worship me and obey me. So he invented a deity who was none but his own alter ego and made him tell the foolhardy people to obey Muhammad and do his bidding. So he’d say, fight for Allah and his messenger, bring the booty to Allah and his messenger, the prettiest girls captured in the raids belong to Allah and his messenger. he made Allah responsible for all his crimes and by making himself his partner he enjoyed all the loot. I assure you Allah never saw a dime of those loots. It all went to the coffers of this bogus prophet.

Would really an all powerful god need the help of humans to kill his detractors? If Muslims only thought about this question alone they would leave Islam. Alas this fear that their psychopath prophet has has placed in them is so strong that they are rendered incapable of thinking. The god of Muhammad is a fabrication of his sick mind. He is a psychopath like Muhammad who created him.

Those falling for mahound's little scam sure need to ask themselves such questions...

See, they misunderstand Islam so badly because they don't speak Arabic. Or something.

Notice how all these stories of late have one major detail in common the people who know them or who are sometimes around them never suspect anything is amiss? WHY?
Answer: Taqiyya!!!

Yes, notice how study of the Qur'an or conversion to Islam leads so many to seek to partake in jihad. On the other hand, how many people who study the Bible suddenly get the idea in their head to go kill someone or blow something up?

Off topic rumor on twitter:

"Berkley CA to house a Muslim College"

uugghh!!

"One of four siblings, he played football in high school before dropping out, she said. He later got his high school equivalency diploma and around age 18 became interested in the Koran.... "

That sums it up. Too dumb for high school, but just right for Islamic jihad.

News-tweak Magazine this week has a lead article on the 'three traits of all suicide bombers: 1) testerone 2) Narcissism 3) and desire to do something 'theatrical'.

It seems there might be one more trait in common - maybe someone can help me?

Poetcomic1 - careful, you are in danger of being labeled an "Islamophobe"!

"...and said he wanted to dedicate his life to God..."

Beware! ...not all God's are alike, as proven by the fruit this man bore. Allah is a false god -- an evil god, if you will.

He became interested in the Koran and eventually tried to join a jihad terrorist group. Why did someone who became interested in the Koran and wanted to serve Allah get involved in terrorism?
................

Why indeed?

Can you imagine the headlines "suspect 'became interested in the Torah (or the Bible) and said he wanted to dedicate his life to God' being followed by "he made repeated attempts to buy weapons and tried to join a terrorist group"? Neither can I.

That would be 'Zaytuna College', which has the working motto "Where Islam Meets America"--which, amazingly, manages to be both bland and quite sinister at the same time.

I'm a UC Berkeley alumnus, and live right next door to Berkeley in Oakland, California, so I've been following this closely. I hope this effort fails as they have with similar proposed institutions in New York and Chicago. I imagine, though, that it's only a matter of time before we start seeing radical Imams who received their schoolin' right here in America.

It seems every time someone converts to Islam, the first priority is to pledge to spill blood....preferably yours...
