All the following are non-training, real-life encounters in hostile situations that I have encountered.

1. I have survived a knife to neck and throat.
2. I have been on the "wrong ends" of pistols, rifles, and shotguns.
3. I have been transported to hospitals via ambulances from horrific encounters.
4. I have been in such excruciating pain that regrettably, I had hoped not to survive.
5. I have been minutes from death in emergency operations.

6. I have had operations performed without anesthesia, or with insufficient anesthesia.
7. I have had catheters, as I was unable to urinate from injuries/surgery.
8. I have been unable to eat or drink anything for extended periods of time (IVs only).
9. I have been unable to return to "normal activity" for several years.
10. I have undergone facial reconstruction surgery for non-life-threatening injuries.

11. I have flatlined once and returned.
12. I have visible scars, with additional scars being seen during the heat of the summer.
13. I awaken from experience-related nightmares, unaware of what country I'm in.
14. I drink to remember, rarely to forget.
15. I harbor no ill-will, but reserve the right of self-defence and other-defence.

16. I usually cry because I'm happy, rarely because I'm sad.
17. I was, am, and until death, will remain a "Redneck."
18. I consider myself to be one of the luckiest people in the world.

Now, for some friendly advice. Please consider the following the next time you threaten Mr. Robert Spencer at JihadWatch, Pamela Geller at AtlasShrugs, or anyone else at other blogs that merely post about Muslims and Islam.

a. Do not misconstrue Love of Life and Kindness, for Fear of Death and Weakness.
b. We often can't say what we want because of various, unspecified factors.
c. We despise force and violence, yet realize that it's sometimes required.

I think you can see the warmth and kindness behind that Islamist mailer. First, none of the lies or deceptions of Mr. Spencer are stated, but simply assumed. Also, Mr. Spencer uses many sources for his postings, including Western and non-Western sources. Also, the sacred texts of Islam are frequently cited in his postings. Are these works, including the Koran, lies? Finally, we are more than cognizant about how much Mohammed and his followers liked dead Jews.

The boy from Manchester has been listening to the BBC. There is a five minute religious homily on their radio 4 station at 7.50 every morning and in the last year or so they give a Muslim the airwaves as much as once a week: Dr Mona Siddiqi and Abdul Hakim Murad (aka Timothy Winter) put in frequent appearances and I remember hearing this very same anecdote about Mohammed related during it, probably by Tim, in the last few weeks.

You can see why Muslims are so fond of accusing their opponents of quoting texts out of context: they do it themselves all the time. No - there is no need to incite muslims. The very existence of other belief systems is incitement enough. Look clearly at the reversal in the statement - pointing out facts is not serving the truth, which would be honorable, but is self serving and contemptuous in the muslim mind. New readers note this now: this is a common thread in muslim argument. It is garbage and deserves to be so treated.

No - there are no free minded muslims. Islam literally means submission, and muslims regularly kill one another for not being muslim enough - for not complying, for exercising individual judgment, for breaking doctrine. "Free thinking" means death. Never mind what these "free minded" believers do to non-believers. Muslims are not free. They do not support freedom, and rarely does thought enter their world (free or otherwise). Compliance is their priority, and our freedom their threat.

Liberty is contagious. Freedom begets freedom. All dictators know this. All tyrants understand this. Any man, institution or government sees this. The freedoms of the West, our liberties, are a threat to islam, which is why they attack us. Mohammed understood this, which is why he crafted the rules in the first place - compliance, irrationality, appeals to power, appeals to the supernatural are all part of the muslim religion. Modern islam fears the great liberties of the West, so the medieval tenets of islam are given focus and strength.
