Illinois jihadist was targeting Republican Congressman's office

Why Schock? Well, he is a conservative Republican, and although I do not believe that the resistance to the global jihad and Islamic supremacism should be an issue that falls across the liberal/conservative divide, since it is a threat that could take down our nation and Western civilization as a whole, nonetheless from a practical standpoint liberals have effectively aligned themselves with the jihad. So it might not have been difficult for Talib Islam to figure that if he took out one conservative Republican, there would be one less anti-jihad voice in Congress.

Springfield Jihad Plot Update: "Schock's office was terror target," by Jake Sherman for Politico, September 25 (thanks to Pamela):

Rep. Aaron Schock's (R-Ill.) office in Illinois state capital of Springfield was one of the targets of a planned terrorist attack, his office said Friday.

Michael C. Finton, known as Talib Islam, was arrested Wednesday after trying to detonate a van he believed was stuffed with explosives near the Paul Findley Federal Building in Springfield. Finton had been collaborating on the attack with an undercover FBI agent and is being charged with attempting to murder federal officers or employees and trying to detonate a weapon of mass destruction, according to the Associated Press.

"My office was notified today of the attempted terrorist attack on both the Federal Building and my Congressional Office in Springfield," Schock said in a statement. "I am incredibly grateful to the FBI for their fine work in preventing this terrorist attack."

Schock's office was a secondary target, according to an Associated Press report.

Finton, 29, converted to Islam in prison and said famed American Taliban operative John Walker Lindh was his hero. Finton also expressed a desire to fight Israelis in the Gaza Strip and received military training in Afghanistan. He was under federal supervision for months....

Had Repubs been serious about 'terror', after 9/11, they would have made their Petro-dollar poster boy Bush to
- Kick out Bandar Bush.
- Recall US ambassador from Saudi Arabia.
- Freeze Saudi Assets in USA.
- Demand clarification on this: http://www.americanrhetoric.com/speeches/gwbush911islamispeace.htm

But Repubs could not nominate the one candidate who stood firm for America, patriot Tom Tancredo. And nominated John 'The Islam' McCain, whose Hispanic-outreach director was a Mexican Juan Hernandez.
Shows which side of America Repubs are on. I know, I know. the rhetorical reply '..... but Dems are worse'. Well, that lame reply will not save America, nor will Barry 'God D**n Ameirca' Obama, Hillary 'US deserted Pakistan' Clinton etc.

"converted to islam in prison." ???

Wouldn't that make him peaceful? This action seems so out of character...

Why would the reporter put such an subtle accusatory reference in an article where there is exactly no proof that his alleged attack attempt had anything to do with religion. Don't you know that islam has always provided a safe haven for Jews? All religions have their fanatics - don't you remember the Crusades? I'm sure there is a perfectly rational reason for his actions; he was probably trying to stop the bad guy who entrapped him who then spun a sting to cover his guilt. It wasn't even a real bomb! He was just testing the security system so he could warn the building management about the bad guy. Or something like that.

What prison was that? Who was the "Chaplain"? Maybe we can hear from his prison buddies as character references?

If it were a Christian who was attempting to blow up a leftist demonrat, this would be revolving on the MSM 24/7 and Eric Holder would try to put all Evangelical Churches on a lockdown.

Sashland - you asked - "What prison was that? Who was the "Chaplain"?"

Good questions. That's what occurred to me, too, as I read the article.

A couple more thoughts.

First: "Finton also expressed a desire to fight Israelis in the Gaza Strip". Hmmm. I wonder whether he gravitated to Islam as many an escaping Nazi did, because he already hated Joooz, and sensed that in Islam he would be able to indulge that hate to the full, or whether he learnt to hate Joooz *after* becoming a Muslim?

Second: observe the nom de guerre he gave himself, his nice new Arabic Muslim name - 'Talib Islam'. STUDENT OF ISLAM. Not, note, 'Misunderstander of Islam'. Not 'Hijacker of Islam'. Not 'Twister of Islam'. Nope - STUDENT of Islam. And plotting jihad is the fruit of his 'studies'.

Funny how all so many of these new recruits to the Army of Islam seem to understand their new religion the same way.
