Islamic law being imposed in Gaza

Which is making it into a Paradise of tolerance and peace, right? Uh, well, not quite. "Analysis: The Islamic republic of Gaza," by Jonathan Spyer in the Jerusalem Post, September 29 (thanks to Alexandre):

[...] A slow introduction of Islamic norms and practices into society began immediately following the Hamas victory in PLC elections in January 2006. This process was accelerated following Hamas's seizure of exclusive control of Gaza in 2007.

However, there are clear internal differences in the movement regarding the pace of change. Hamas's current leadership has tended to favor a slow encouragement of Islamic practices and rules, without straying too far from the desires of the broader public.

More hardline and Salafi elements within the movement want a stricter and more formal introduction of Islamic norms. Events over the last 18 months indicate that the latter camp is now making the running, with Hamas's leadership under pressure from extreme forces both within the movement and beyond it.

This change is being felt in the very fabric of daily life in Gaza. A transition of the status of Islamic observance from social norm to legal compulsion is under way.

The most obvious sign of this is the creation of the new "Propagation of Virtue and Prevention of Vice" security force, which operates under the command of the Ministry of the Waqf (Islamic Endowment).

This force is tasked with enforcing Islamic codes of behavior. Its members patrol beaches, parks and public areas, ensuring proper Islamic modesty.

One source describes how a man wearing shorts while sitting on his own balcony in southern Gaza was spotted and advised that this must not happen again. Rules banning men from bathing topless, and women (who may still bathe separately from men and fully covered) from laughing or smiling while bathing, are also in the process of enforcement....

After all, as the Ayatollah Khomeini said, "There is no fun in Islam."

There is much more. Read it all.

Israel never should have pulled out.
They shouldn't give an inch of their land.
It doesn't bring them peace & it certainly doesn't earn them any respect from the powers that be in the free world.

Wherever Mohammed goes he will eventually demand land a little at a time until he has it all. Then he will proceed to turn it into a wasteland. Then cry that it is someone else's fault.

From the same article:

“A special all-female unit within the police has also been created, with responsibility for enforcing female modesty and handling female suspects. This force, numbering 100-150 officers, wear niqab and gloves, with only an eye slit visible.”

I suggest the women who are approached use the hockey jersey, or in this case the niqab, over the head from the back to blind them, throw a couple of kicks to the shin, trip them up and leave them fumbling in their own robes while you walk away.

But seriously, sounds like a burgeoning islamic paradise. I’m just wondering, when do the nine year old girls have to start wearing the hijab or the jilbab, before or after they’re married?

On a side note, Sarah Palin shows she doesn't get it when it comes to Islam:

In this struggle with radical Islamic extremists, no part of the world is safe from those who bomb, maim and kill in the service of their twisted vision.

This war - and that is what it is, a war - is not, as some have said, a clash of civilizations. We are not at war with Islam. This is a war within Islam, where a small minority of violent killers seeks to impose their view on the vast majority of Muslims who want the same things all of us want: economic opportunity, education, and the chance to build a better life for themselves and their families. The reality is that al Qaeda and its affiliates have killed scores of innocent Muslim men, women and children.

We see the same foolish canards that we endured for eight years under Bush: small minority of extremists who have hijacked Islam vs. the majority of peaceful, moderate Muslims who wish to embrace the West, democracy, and capitalism. Hence the West is only being threatened by al-Qaeda and a few other related groups, but not Islam as a whole. This is not only false, but very dangerous. Palin needs to stop talking about a subject for which she has no qualifications and go and educate herself. She can start by actually reading the Qur'an, along with Robert Spencer's new reader's guide to Islam's holy book, as well as the other books that Mr. Spencer has written (she would especially benefit from "Stealth Jihad" and "Onward Muslim Soldiers"). She should also familiarise herself with the writings of Serge Trifkovic, Andrew Bostom, and Bat Ye'or.

Analysis: The Islamic republic of Gaza

We could use some analysis on how many Sharia States we're now bankrolling and providing World's Policeman service for.

*** Tabari 6:82 ***

The beginning of our running count of this always expanding group of welfare states would of course start with Egypt, then Pak, then several others and now Iraq and Afghan.

If nothing else, these Moslems sure as heck know how to mooch.

*** 108:1 ***

Remember the tsunami and the shot of that teen in the OBL tee shirt standing in line for the free food being doled out by US sailors? From his scowl I'd say he didn't look appreciative.

But, then again, neither was Michelle Obama, even though she married a born Moslem from Indonesia.

OT: Check this out.

"Terrorists" are the most God-fearing people.

Lebanon will soon be the Islamic Republic of Lebanon!

The Islamization of Lebanon
From the Lebanon Daily Star:

Christians are tempted to flee Lebanon as the country becomes increasingly “Islamized,” according to the founder of the Center for Arab Christian Research and Documentation (CEDRAC). One-third of the nation’s Christian population has left since the beginning of the 1975-90 Civil War, and a recent surge in emigration means Christians now make up just 34 percent of Lebanon’s population, Father Samir Khalil, a Jesuit teacher at Beirut’s St. Joseph University’s CEDRAC department, told Vatican Radio last week.

“Christians used to make up 50 percent of the nation’s population; now experts think the Christians are probably not exceeding 34 percent, which is worrying,” Khalil said in the radio interview during a visit to The Holy See.

The Beirut-based researcher expressed concern that Christians in the Arab world are moving abroad to places with higher Christian populations, such as America, Europe and Australia, which is increasing the Muslim majority in countries like Lebanon.

“The same is happening [all over] the Middle East, and this is certainly a very tragic situation, and it will have great consequences in the future,” Father Khalil warned last week on the Vatican Radio station, adding that Christians must stay in the Middle East to keep numbers up.

Large numbers of Lebanese Christians are leaving as they feel their traditional influence in their country is weakening, while an increasing number of crucial political positions are going to Muslims.

In reference to Islamic extremism, Khalil claimed the power of the influential Christian minority to counterbalance it was waning, saying: “Lebanon has always been a bastion of religious tolerance, but now it is moving toward the model of Islamization seen in Iraq and Egypt.”

What happens to these stupid women who fight for hamas? they will find themselves trapped in the 9th century. be careful for what you wish for, for you may get it.

From the article - "A slow introduction of Islamic norms and practices into society began immediately following the Hamas victory in PLC elections in January 2006. This process was accelerated following Hamas's seizure of exclusive control of Gaza in 2007."

Nope. It didn't start in January 2006.

It was well under way in the 1990s, and had probably started a good deal earlier.

See chapter 8 of Geraldine Brooks', 'Nine Parts of Desire' (1994) - she visited the Islamic University of Gaza, in 1993. It had already been segregated - a women's campus and a men's campus; and as a non-Muslim female reporter, she was not permitted onto that women's campus unless she donned a jalabiya.

Brooks tells the story of a *Christian* nurse who worked in the Gaza hospital; Brooks saw this young nurse come in from the market, her uniform covered with rotten fruit that had been thrown at her by Muslim 'youths' who had told her that she *must* cover her head, and that if she didn't, 'next time' they would be throwing at her, not rotten fruit and mud from the street, but *acid*.

I would have called what is happening in Gaza an activation, intensification and formalisation of what was already there in the society, rather than an 'introduction'.

Indeed, Spyer himself comes closer to the reality when he writes, a bit further down, "A transition of the status of Islamic observance from social norm to legal compulsion is under way".

'Social norm' sounds innocuous: but this is what it means, as explained by Nonie Darwish in 'Cruel and Usual Punishment. She points out that sharia transforms every member of the ummah into one of (as she puts it) 'allah's enforcers'; everybody watching everybody else and knowing that others are watching *them*; nobody daring to be seen to infringe, lest they become the target of a sharia vigilante execution.

"A Muslim does not have to live in Saudi Arabia or Iran to fear Sharia's harsh punishments. That problem has been solved by the ingenious worldwide stranglehold of Sharia over ordinary Muslims. In the more secular Muslim states, the public must look over their shoulders not just for the official 'virtue police' who can be easily bribed, but more importantly for fellow Muslims who might see them acting like apostates and simply kill them, thinking that they [i.e. the killer] are doing the right thing. You do not need the whole population to believe this, but even if 10 percent follow Sharia literally, that is plenty of prospective killers waiting to see a violation of Sharia on the street and causing a lot of fear, suppression, denial and distrust" (p. 146-47).

It is hard to think of a people more deserving of a shari'a paradise than the Palestinians. Let Gaza now become the shining beacon of Islamic political, social and economic glory for all the world to see. The utter failure of the Islamic ideology will be so manifest in Gaza that even the deaf and blind politicians in all the Western capitals will not be able to muster a mote of an apology in sum among them all for it.

Gaza's tolerence of other religions was on display yesterday with the firing of three rockets into Isreal (on Yom Kippur) and one more today.
http://twitter.com/Qassamcount

I can see why suicide bombing is an attractive alternative to the hell of life under that religion, especially for the women.

We can never reason western-style with people living under the pathology of Islam. That part of their brains has been washed away.

"There is no fun in Islam."
What they're really aiming for is that there be no people in Islam.

Death cult asceticism.

Anti-pleasure, anti-human, anti-life.

So far as the denizens of the Gaza strip are concerned, it seems to me that they are getting what they have asked for and worked for.

And as long as they are unable to impose their perversions on outsiders, it's fine with me.

Quarantine the crazy bastards and let them stew in their own juices.

"This change is being felt in the very fabric of daily life in Gaza. A transition of the status of Islamic observance from social norm to legal compulsion is under way."

You can expect the same thing once you start allowing Shar'ia law into your countries...

This article really speaks of how demonic this cult of Islam is.
Why can`t women laugh and smile while bathing, how crazy is that?
It just shows you how things would be if we were under Sharia law in our countries.
Please God,don`t let this happen in the West, hell on earth comes to mind!!

The following article

http://www.frontpagemag.com/Articles/Read.aspx?GUID=7E8E98D9-E148-4F9C-BAFF-40E9E4974AEE

may be of interest to new readers here, in particular. It is an interview with one Stephen Vincent, author of a book called "The Red Zone" who had spent time in Iraq in 2003/ 2004, during which period he noticed something - that he had never heard an Iraqi [Muslim] woman laugh out loud in public.

QUOTE, FROM INTERVIEW:
'You note in your book that at one point you were sitting at the Al-Hamra Hotel, where Western journalists hang out. Beside the swimming pool you heard two American women laughing and you said a “chill shot” went right through you. You then realized that you had not heard a woman laugh in Iraq, “not in a free and unguarded manner, at any rate.” That laughter became like music to your ears." UNQUOTE

Judging from what he says in the interview I've linked, Vincent does not begin to grasp the full significance of what he has seen and heard - he has not the faintest idea that what he saw and heard is simply the result of what Hugh Fitzgerald calls 'Islam, Islam', Islam' - nevertheless, his observations and reflections might be worth reading, because for *us* they match up perfectly with all kinds of other data.

"In the Red Zone' might be interesting to read in conjunction with Nonie Darwish's book on sharia, that I mentioned above.
