German authorities have uncovered a new video threatening attacks against the country over its military engagement in Afghanistan ahead of this weekend's pivotal elections, an official said Friday.
The new Internet video threats are believed to come from the Taliban, an interior ministry spokesman said, and demand that Germany withdraw its troops from the war-torn country.[...]
In the new video, a man calling himself "Ajjub" and speaking in German said: "Because of your commitment here against Islam, attacking Germany has become an attractive idea for us, the mujahideen," according to the spokesman.
The militant said it was only a matter of time "before jihad destroys German walls."
Photos of famous German sites and events then appear, including Brandenburg Gate, Munich's Oktoberfest beer festival and Cologne Cathedral.
Politicians, including Interior Minister Wolfgang Schaeuble and Defence Minister Franz-Josef Jung, are also shown, the spokesman said.
A German investigator quoted by Der Spiegel's Internet site described the threat as "the most concrete" against the country because of the places and people singled out....
And a word from the world's wealthiest cave dweller: "'Bin Laden message' to Europe appears on Internet," from CNN, September 25:
(CNN) -- A purported message from Osama bin Laden to Europeans urges them to distance themselves from the United States, noting that Americans are losing the war in Afghanistan.
The brief message in Arabic, which appeared Friday on radical Islamic Web sites, has subtitles in English and German. [...]
"It won't be long until the dust of war clears in Afghanistan, at which point you won't find a trace of any American," he adds.

"This indicator when viewed in light of the five Abu Talha videos this year, three of which have been released in the last eight days and their focus on the upcoming elections in Germany, significantly raises the threat level even further," IntelCenter said.
"There is currently a very high threat of an attack occurring in Germany or against German interests in the immediate period and extending for at least the next four weeks. Realistically, we have to evaluate muslims in Europe and especially here in America. If muslims want to live here in peace and raise their families in an American way - good - then they are welcome. If second or third generation muslims get the koran killer bug then they should be deported along with their entire American families. Perhaps this fear of leaving here would hold these muslim killers in check. That way their own families would raise them without the koran killer instructions.
Ironically (and although I would naturally never wish this on any country - I am merely speaking speculatively) an AQ 'spectacular' in Germany or France (the inner sanctum of EU membership) would, in my view, cause a substantial accretion of European public opinion against the jihadists and Muslims in general - and would almost certainly lead to widespread violent protest.
'Peripheral' countries such as Britain (peripheral because despite being the second largest net contributor to the Union, Britain has perhaps the most Eurosceptic population - and rightly so), the Netherlands, Denmark and Sweden are already simmering with antipathy toward the unwelcome Islamification of their lands by their respective political élites.

I am in full agreement with with regard to the Cologne Cathedral. I have been there and stood at the top of one of the spires. Absolutely magnificent!
If the muslims do anything that so much results in a "scratch" on that beautiful structure, I would surely hope the Germans take extreme actions to demonstrate to the muslim world that they are NOT welcome in Deutschland.

An "AQ Spectacular" in France or Germany might very well lead to violent protest - against the US. We're a safer target. the great French writer Victor Hugo put it that way "La France et l'Allemagne sont essentiellement l'Europe". Well, I think there's a lot more to Europe, I love its diversity, than these two countries, but as for the cathedrals he was right, the most beautiful ones are in France and Germany.
Tomorrow is election day and I wonder what the outcome will be. I don't know why the terrorists announced attacks two weeks after the election. But the mind of Mohammedan morons will always remain an undisclosed mystery to me.

Europe, with its inconceivably vast heritage of "Jahilyya", offers Muslims the ultimate "target-rich environment". As an art historian, especially, it is something that worries me greatly.
With reference to Cologne Cathedral, it might be worth pointing out that such endangerment of major cultural buildings is something Europeans would mainly associate with the total wars of the twentieth century. I doubt if jihadists would be doing themselves any favours if they gave the population of the continent the impression that such days had returned.
I regret to say that there is a rather strategic bridge right in front of Cologne Cathedral which the Brits tried to bomb in WWI: when one pilot reported that some of his bombs may have overshot and hit the cathedral he was told not to worry. It was felt that the Germans had caused much destruction to cultural monuments in other countries and it was thought a taste of their own medicine, if only by accident, would do them good. How the Cathedral escaped allied bombs in WWII is a bit of a miracle as the following photo shows:
