NEW YORK, Sept 24 (Reuters) - A New York man was indicted on Thursday for allegedly seeking training from Islamic militants to fight U.S. troops in Iraq and Afghanistan, authorities said.
The FBI said Betim Kaziu, a U.S. citizen and New York resident, sought to acquire weapons and training to fight U.S. troops abroad.
Kaziu traveled to Cairo in February, the FBI said, and later to Kosovo, where he was arrested by Kosovar authorities in August.
Along the way, Kaziu allegedly sought to join Al-Shabbab, an armed movement listed as a terrorist group by the U.S. State Department, and train in Pakistan to fight U.S. troops in Afghanistan, Iraq and the Balkans, the indictment said....

In a 2004 Gallup survey measuring popular opinion of U.S. foreign policy around the world, just 10 countries rated American foreign policy favorably, with Kosovo registering the highest approval rate of all at 88 percent approval.
The world's second largest replica of the Statue of Liberty is in Kosovo, where you'll also find that the population largely identifies with, and supports, Israel and the Israelis.
Interesting observation, Flashbuck. In Albania (the other Shqip-speaking country), when Communism fell, the Muslims and the Christians went to the re-openings of each others' places of worship. It is also the case that Shqip Evangelicals in Kosovo (a new community) used to get it in the neck from the Serbs, too.

Well, I repeat... Kosovo is an extremely tolerant and moderate country, probably more so than many regions in southern USA. One thing's for sure, they've got no time for Saudis, Wahabbis, jihadists, bin Laden, etc. No time at all.
In fact there are American flags flying everywhere, even outside govt buildings. There are restaurants and cafes named after American presidents, and alcohol flows freely. Also, you hardly ever see a burkha or anything like that in Kosovo. In fact, you're more likely to see burkhas and stuff like that in New York than you are in Kosovo.
Robert Spencer does great work on this site and elsewhere. His books are a valuable contribution and a must read source of information and history. But with this latest post he has slipped up big time.

I know nobody is looking at this or cares, but we are basically stealing another countries territory through the U.N. During the war in 1999 I attended a session of the Green party about NATO involvement, the question was about deploying ground troops. Somehow the discussion shifted and we were talking about WWII. One of these brave and moderate Kosovo Muslims suggested that Hitler couldn't have been that bad, because he had wanted to give them a state of their own. I wonder where you find the Nazis... NAIROBI, Kenya (AP) — FBI are investigating whether an American Somali was involved in a suicide bombing on a peacekeeping base in Somalia that killed 21 people, a family friend said Friday.
Abdirahman Warsame told The Associated Press that FBI agents in the city of Seattle took DNA samples from Mohamed Mohamud, cut off his phone lines and warned him not to speak to the media. He had been at the family's home on Thursday, two days after FBI agents visited.
They told Mohamud his son Omar may have been in one of two stolen U.N. cars that Islamic insurgents detonated in an African Union peacekeeping base last Thursday. The markings on the cars meant they were not subject to the usual security checks and were allowed onto the base. Seventeen Burundian and Ugandan peacekeepers were among the 21 killed in the Sept. 17 attack, al-Shabab, a local Islamic militia, said was in retaliation for a U.S. commando raid on Sept. 14 that killed al-Qaida operative Saleh Ali Saleh Nabhan in southern Somalia.
Mohamud had been prepared for the visit by the U.S. federal agents following Internet reports that an American had been involved in the bombing and calls from relatives in Somalia, Warsame said.
"Relatives in Somalia told Mohamed that his son was the bomber who detonated one of the cars. He was very disappointed that his son has died in Somalia," said Warsame. "He was in mourning."

I can agree to a point, but I have family friends who are of the "faith", and they, even knowing the Cross around my neck, would give the shirt off their backs. Religion stays out of the picture.
Now, that being said, if I were to find that they were becoming more strict and "devout", the relationship would change, by me, instantaneously.
Sometimes, I would imagine much of the time, those in the west simply live their lives as we do, not fully participating in EVERY aspect of the "religion", such as the Catholic Church forbidding the use of condoms or pre-marital sex. This is not true for far too many of these folks, however.

The overflow of victims were kept in human warehouses in Tropoye. Del Ponte's half-hearted attempt to investigate to prove her "objectivity" was from the stert fought tooth and nail by her bosses in the Haague "tribunal", who, not surprisingly, sabotaged it. An Italian General Fabio Mini who served with the NATO peacekeepers was totally cynical of del Ponte's chances of obtaining justice for the Serb victims, telling del Ponte that the organ-harvesters and the Americans are one. Still, she was able to obtain the evidence that leaves no doubt that those crimes had occured, but her bosses shut the case down.

As for Carla del Ponte, back in the nineties she had a very important job to do in Tanzania, she had to sort out all the bits and pieces of the genocide in Rwanda, but when she heard that Slobodan Milosevic was arrested and brought to The Hague, she dropped all the African issues cold turkey and rushed back to The Hague, because she wanted "justice to be done". John Roy Carlson in 'From Cairo to Damascus' reports on this. On p 73, he is told by one Moustafa that "We...have Czechs and Yugoslavs spying for us. They go right into Tel Aviv...they are fine spies".
On page 202, at the beginning of the chapter entitled "Return to Jerusalem", Carlson quotes one 'Nazar Chalawitch, Holy Warrior from Yugoslavia', whom Carlson met in hospital in Gaza, who said [of the Arabs] "the most stupid, the most cowardly, the most inefficient soldiers I have ever seen. The Germans and I gave the Arabs many good ideas to destroy the Jewish villages {in Israel - dda}. They {the Arabs} are afraid of anything new. They say it will cost them too much money. They are waiting for Allah to help them". Carlson describes his encounter with Chalawitch in full, on pp. 217-218. Among other things, we learn that when the Muslim forces attacked Kibbutz Kfar Darom outside Gaza, there were Germans and Yugoslavs [i.e. Balkan Muslims] with the Arab Muslims in the assault.
On pp 396-7, describing his time in Damascus, Carlson meets a German who tells him that "There are many Yugoslav Moslems here....Yugoslavs and Germans are everywhere in the Syrian army..." {which had been attacking Israel - dda}. On pp. 401-402, Carlson recounts his conversation with a Yugoslav Moslem at the Sultan Selim mosque; this man, Hayredin Dubravac, spoke English, and was from Croatia; he had been recruited by the Grand Mufti. (And from what he said to Carlson, he was royally pzzed off by the treatment he had received from the Arab Muslims, his supposed 'brothers'...).
Like many things about Islam I don't understand is why do moslems love to call people 'Nazis'? Next to the koran "Mein Kamf" is the best selling book in Islamland. The Ottoman Empire was on the side of the Nazis. So, logically I must presume that calling people 'Nazis' is some sign of respect or left-handed compliment.
