Nykos - have you ever visited Ali Sina's Faithfreedom site? He has some good advice on what works and what doesn't, to deprogram Muslims. OK, here is an interesting statement from you: there are three ways of analysing this assertion: the first is that you are writing from the standpoint as a male mussulman, the second is that you are speaking generally - yet don't know your religion enough in understanding what your own religion allows, and the third is that you are lying to us or practicing the mussulman approved kitman. None of these options are exclusive of the others.
The traditional mussulmen belief is that a male mussulman may marry women who are 'people of the book', meaning either Jewish or Christian. A woman mussulman may not marry a non-mussulman - [Qur'an 2:221].
1) 'We' would have to refer only to men, after all, women are like property, like tilth, right?
2) You don't know that about your own religion, but triumphantly display your ignorance of your own religion. You also don't appear to know about what any other religion allows or does not allow, but still you try to use it as an example of the superiority of islam.
3) You know this tradition, but try to craft this narrow true statement as a superiority of islam by hoping we will think it is generally true that 'Muslims can marry anyone, but other religions don't let their believers marry anyone". Your statement may be more accurately restated, "In my islamic religion I, as a male, can marry Jewish or Christian women but no women of other religions, but I'm not going to mention that muslim women can only marry muslim men.", but that wouldn't make islam look quite so tolerant.
The answer to the question, "Can I marry someone not of my non-muslim religion, the answer is "Yes". The government under which I live allows it, since it is not beholden to religious control or oversight. My religion allows it. Can you say the same for your religion: to allow me to marry a mussulman woman when I am not a mussulman?
