Anyway, in addition to the unintentional hilarity of much of our hate mail (and I've seen what comes in through the contact form -- the literate ones really are that few and far between), there are also a number of patterns to be observed that certainly resonate with the mindset displayed in the news items we post here. For example:
1. Backhanded threats: We're peaceful, except when we're not, and the latter is the uppity unbeliever's fault.
2. Self-contradiction, or trying to have it both ways: Islam is peaceful and tolerant, but all of the verses and ahadith that say otherwise are a-ok. To say otherwise would be to criticize Allah and Muhammad. Can't have that. Ever.
3. Unbridled anger and a sense of entitlement to revenge.
4. The assumption that one who criticizes Islam cannot possibly be doing so for rational reasons. There's got to be a conspiracy we're part of. This assumption, of course, goes all the way back to the tale of Abu Haritha and the revelation of Sura 3.
5. Circular reasoning: The Qur'an is true because the Qur'an says it's true and the Qur'an is from Allah because the Qur'an says so. Who could possibly argue with that self-evident truth?
There are certainly more.

The thing that angers me most about these emails is that they are from muslims WITHIN MY nation. They do not seem to ever think of the beliefs that allowed a foreigner with a different religion into our land to enjoy our rights, in the first place. No, if anything, they foolishly disavow such values and fail to discern the juxtaposition of such soical constructs. For example, wherever their beloved religion rules, one has poverty (to a far greater extent than in our "western" lands), one has violence (bombings and what not on a daily basis), one has corruption (on the part of their government)and so on. They had to obviously leave their society in order to enjoy the benefits and freedoms of our society. Yet, they blindly wish to impose those failed values onto us within our society (evident by their resorting to threatening violence against you when they merely disagree with your apt and accurate depictions of their vile religion), which if successful, would adversely alter the very sociological construct they fled into, in the first place.
Meanwhile, we have naive liberals who do everything they can to enable these degenerate moon-god worshippers by restraining our military with one-way conventions abroad and imposing upon our law enforcement at home. Just now, I read how our activist judiciary is going to allow government officials from the Bush administration to be held liable for getting jihadis' hair wet, not granting them their beauty sleep, and making them listen to rap music (all to be compared to the actual torture of having one's nails removed, having holes drilled into one's shoulders, having one's head slowly severed with a dull knife, being beaten to death, etc). This madness just never ends . . .

Keep posting them, Robert, with the location of the source as possible. I would like to map them and make sure my electeds realize just what is within their jurisdictions. Three of my electeds said they understood islam to ba a problem, but their was no concern 'at this time.' With this venom within our borders, there is a threat at this time.

My interpretation within the peaceful message posed by Islam is that the "vermin Jihadis' are in fact the "suet" referred to by the Prophet in this enlightened instruction; so often misinterpreted by the illiterates we see represented in this Seattle "suet".
