We have heard a lot about Somalis returning from Minnesota to Somalia to wage jihad. But this is the first account of an American convert to Islam going there to wage jihad. This is clear evidence that it is the Islamic jihad ideology, not nationalism or tribal loyalty, that is the motivating factor involved in these cases. St. Paul, Minn. -- A sixth Minnesota man is feared dead in Somalia after joining an Islamic extremist group there. But Troy Kastigar stood out from his fellow recruits, because the Minneapolis man was not Somali.Kastigar, 28, was a Muslim convert who apparently had no personal ties to the lawless east African country.
Troy Kastigar's family received reports of his death within the past week, according to friends of the family. The circumstances of his reported death aren't clear, and the information could not be confirmed by the FBI.
Kastigar's involvement in Somalia is a puzzle in itself. He told his mother that he was going to Kenya when he left the Twin Cities last November.
Somali community members believe Kastigar was part of the last wave of Minnesota men who joined the violent militia al-Shabaab in Somalia. While some of the 20 or so men say they left to defend their homeland in a bloody civil war, Katigar's motivations are less clear.
Family friends say Kastigar's mother raised him and a younger brother on her own. When Troy was about 10, he and his mom took up karate lessons in Golden Valley. Their instructor, Allan Kunstmann, now owns a martial arts studio in Maple Grove. He remembers the young Kastigar as respectful and hard-working.
"He always seemed like a happy kid, seemed very respectful, polite, upbeat, positive," he said.
Kunstmann says Kastigar earned a black belt and had a lot of potential. Kunstmann says Kastigar's mother, Julie, was nurturing, and there were no signs at the time that he would ever run afoul of the law.
But Kastigar did find trouble as a young adult.
Before he left for Somalia, he acquired a lengthy rap sheet, filled with misdemeanors ranging from credit card fraud to driving after his license was revoked.
According to former classmates, he graduated in 1999 from Robbinsdale Cooper High School.
Kastigar is identified in police reports as white, but his mother claimed Native American heritage.
At some point, Kastigar converted to Islam and went by the Muslim name "Abdirahman."
Somali-American community members say they occasionally saw Kastigar at the mosque, and more frequently at community basketball games or at the Brian Coyle community center in Minneapolis.
Mukhtar Osman, a former student at the University of Minnesota, says he met Kastigar last fall across the street from the U's Carlson School of Management.

We are continually told by the left that we cannot blame Somalis for the 9/11 attacks. There is nothing in the Qur'an, the aHadith and the Sira to PREVENT such attacks. All muslims in this country are loyal to the goals of Islam. America is a country that they happen to live in at the moment. As always, the goal of Islam is to govern the world in the name of Allah. No mulsim can "shirk" (pun intended) this duty - to advance Islam at all costs.

Once they go over there from here, they should be denied reentry. Obviously they didn't come here to build a new life, to become Americans. They weren't refugees, since they had no fear of returning to Somalia. Ergo, they entered the US under false pretenses and should be permanently barred from the country.
Another example that losers are the ones who convert to Islam.
How many Somalis, who in various ways managed to be admitted to this country, or whose parents were admitted, or who came because a Somali who already managed to get here (a Muslim Somali came here as a "refugee" from what? From the violence and aggression that are inspired by Islam? If that is to be the definition of a "refugee" then we should promptly admit tens or hundreds of millions of Muslims, who live in places where despotism, economic paralysis, social backwardness, intellectual stasis, and a stunted moral sense -- when it comes to non-Muslims -- are everywhere to be found, are the general rule to which, in a few places where Islam has been temporarily tamed, by a farseeing Ataturk or a large non-Muslim presence or some other reason, there are exceptions.
And if one familiarizes oneself with the results of DNA testing on sample Somali populations in this country, how many of those "family members" who were brought over by "relatives" in fact are related, and how many were merely expected to pay for the service of those who declared them to be relatives?
Why should one worry about outflow, or fatal outcomes in Mogadishu? The only thing to worry about are those who choose to pursue Jihad here, through other means, less obvious to an unwary non-Muslim public.

That word "feared" practically jumped off the page at me.
Maybe it was feared that he had joined with the Barbarians and had learned not to fear death while he worked to provoke fear in the innocent. I fear he will be missed.
This reminds me so much of the case of John Walker Lindh, dubbed the American Taliban.
Both grew up in lovely parts of the United States with a number of advantages and doting families--then left that idyllic spot so they could wage Jihad in some of the most godforsaken holes on the planet.
So what could induce a young American to head for the primitive, chaotic Horn of Africa--not with a charity, or a relief agency, but to add to the violence? Nothing but Islam.

Which goes to show how little Laura Yuen of Minnesota Public Radio knows. Troy Kastigar had a link with the Somali jihad that far transcended any meager blood connection. It was Islam that brought Kastigar to Somalia, just as it was Islam that brought the other Muslims from Minnesota to Somalia. The connect here that Ms. Yuen missed is Islam. If she were to understand that then she would easily understand how Mr. Kastigar become a martyr in some African hellhole.
Interestinconundrum, above, wonders whether Kastigar may have been a 'jailhouse convert'.
Perhaps. After all we've seen plenty of those already.
But then again - perhaps not.
A good journalist would move heaven and earth to find out the answers to two questions 1. when exactly it was that Kastigar started identifying himself as a Muslim. and 2. *when* exactly it was that he first got into serious trouble with the law - that is, when it was that he started practising credit card fraud; when it was that he was caught driving a car after his license was revoked.
Because it is possible - indeed I would think it quite probable - that the crime spree may have started *after*, and even as a result of, his conversion to Islam.
In one sentence they describe him as happy kid then talk about his lengthly rap sheet. What happened to him as an adult... islam? or did it start before he reverted? Was he plucked from a jail cell by a muslim, or in school? Since islamics have infiltrated even our youngest and most vulnerable now - all thanks to our left wing idiots, and ourselves for not doing anything to stop it.
But, yes, this is indeed clear evidence it is the idiotology (misspelled on purpose) of islam is the cause of his becoming what the koran preaches - a jihadist bent on killing others just because they are not muslim.
