In my Human Events column this week we actually meet a politician with spine:
The latest American official to be targeted by the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) for exercising his freedom of speech is the mayor of Clarksville, Tenn., Johnny Piper. CAIR joined Clarksville-area Muslims in scolding Piper for forwarding an e-mail that protests against an Islamic stamp issued by the U.S. Postal Service.Too many politically correct officials cower before CAIR. They accept its self-definition as a civil rights organization (which it is not) and ignore the facts that it is an unindicted co-conspirator in a Hamas funding caseand that sevveral of its officials have been convicted of terrorism-related offenses.
But Piper -- refreshingly enough -- is not backing down.
It all started last Friday, when without comment Piper forwarded to city council members and other Clarksville officials a viral e-mail that has been circulating for years, although Piper received a new version that erroneously blames Barack Obama for the stamp. The e-mail calls upon "patriotic Americans" to protest against the stamp that commemorates the Muslim holidays Eid al-Fitr and Eid al-Adha. The e-mail exhorts readers to "remember the MUSLIM bombing of the World Trade Center in 1993!"
Ahmed Joudah of the Islamic Center of Clarksville declared the e-mail was marked by "appalling ignorance of what Islam is, and who Muslims are. I laughed when I read it, but at the same time, I felt sorry that we still have people around us that think that way."
In what way did the e-mail manifest "ignorance"? Apparently Joudah was referring to its designation of the 1993 World Trade Center attack as an example of "Muslim terrorism."...
Piper is extremely dangerous in the eyes of CAIR because he speaks the truth and truth is the primary destructive force of Islam. They much prefer the "head in the sand" variety of politician that they can manipulate.
We need more leaders like this.
Despite the opprobrium, however, Piper was not intimidated. He explained: “It was an innocent sending off, but I’m not taking it back, either. I don’t like people killing Americans.”
Good, real good. CAIR officials are certainly angry that there are still a significantly high number of Americans and Westerners who see their ultimate expression of "love" (violent jihad against non-believers, a.k.a. human beings) as the taking of innocent lives, instead of regarding it as inbred bedouin savages do.
Since most of us Westerners haven't been subjected to Mein-Qurampf brainwashing for generations, I suppose they'll continue to have a hell of a hard time selling suicide-bombings, beheadings, pedophilia, suppression of free speech, anti-semitism, mahound's pornographic and genocidal life story as an epitome of perfection, bans on "blasphemous" (i.e. which contradicts their Glory-ass Quran) science and the replacement of human rights by sharia law as "the ultimate expression of love and altruism."
Stand up for those who stand up.
"Ahmed Joudah of the Islamic Center of Clarksville declared the e-mail was marked by “'appalling ignorance of what Islam is, and who Muslims are. I laughed when I read it, but at the same time, I felt sorry that we still have people around us that think that way.'”
Ahmed Joudah may not have been noticing, but despite the efforts of some in the press -- the Times keeps carrying feel-good articles about Muslims in America, and today's is a chatty piece about Muslimahs and their dress, including a CAIR apparatchik in Ohio -- many more non-Muslims all over this country are finding out, steadily, often reluctantly, about the texts, and the tenets, of Islam, for the daily Jihad News from around the world, the daily mistreatments, persecutions, humiliations, murders meted out by Muslims to non-Muslims in Muslim-dominated lands, and the daily evidence of ideologically-justified crime against the circumambient Infidel societies, disloyalty to the Infidel nation-state, and general all-round meretriciousness (not only, but including, well-versed practice in the arts of Taqiyya and Tu Quoque), are getting to people, people who might once have ignored it, or tried to persuade themselves that the evidence of their senses (including their reading and listening to so much Jihad News), as they begin to comprehend the nature and significance of Jihad, that is the struggle to remove all obstacles to the spread, and then the dominance, of Islam, everywhere.
Ahmed Joudah doesn't realize that the sea-change, not yet reflected in policy, among those capable of thought, all over the Western world, is largely the result of several things:
1) the easy access to Qur'an, Hadith, and Sira on the web, which for Muslims may from his point of view be a Good Thing, but the same access for non-Muslims to the same information, and even to Muslim websites (where much can be eavesdropped upon), allows non-Muslims to grasp the nature of Islam, that Total Belief-System.
2) an understanding that Arab money has helped buy up influence, and monopolize the teaching about Islam, in many colleges and universities, but that the great Western scholars of Islam, whose work on the immutable texts and tenets and attitudes, from about 1870 to 1970, remains accessible, and is now being put on-line, in bits and pieces, but steadily, relentlessly, and there is nothing the smiling fellows, the ahmed-joudahs, can do to stop that.
3) the apostates of Islam, the "defectors" from the Army of Islam, whose testimonies are now penetrating into the brains even of the most reluctant Westerners (save for the hopelessly brainwashed), are having an effect: Ayaan Hirsi Ali, Wafa Sultan, Nonie Darwish, Ibn Warraq, Ali Sina, Magdi Allam, and many others. Eventually, those who have refrained from looking too closely at Islam, who have kept carefully away from the subject, but themselves are clearly no longer -- if they wever were -- Believers, such people as Fouad Ajami, Kanan Makiyia, Azar Nafisi -- are going to have to start discussing, at least among themselves and perhaps openly, the Problem of Islam, and what it does, what heavy responsiblity it bears, for stunting the mental and moral growth of a billion people.
Once it is well understood that Islam itself explains the political, economic, social, intellectual, and moral failures of Muslim states and societies, one that once understood is difficult to ignore, and impossible to refute -- far better, less squandering, and much more self-confident strategies will be devised, to deal with the Problem of Islam. It will not go away, but in the non-Muslim countries, and in the world at large, it can be reduced to manageable proportions, through a combination of measures. As for Muslim states, if Infidel aid and knowhow is withdrawn entirely, and a cold eye cast on their inner travails, the natural ethnic, sectarian, and economic divisions within that world will assert themselves, and that will be, not a Bad, but a Good Thing.
It's coming. It's merely a question of when, of how quickly, those who presume to protect (and instruct) us can learn what they should have started learning, in earnest, eight years ago tomorrow.
dgene - You are right. The Mayor of Clarksville, Tennessee, should be receiving an avalanche of Love Mail from appreciative American jihadwatchers.
I myself have some Love Mail to write, and send, ASAP, to a very sensible lady Mayor in Australia who has just stated, publicly, that immigrants who break their oath of citizenship to Australia by committing crimes, should be booted out. The immigrants she has in mind are largely of the Mohammedan persuasion, and the Mayor made her statement after a bunch of Mohammedans resident within her 'patch' staged a riot to 'protest' police carrying out raids in the course of a criminal investigation (the raids netted a large quantity of items that one would not expect to find in respectable law-abiding households).
'Just sent Mayor Piper a note of encouragement. Yo can do the same here:
