Even if it were true that resistance increased the Jihad threat--which I do not believe is true at all in the long run--after all, the French, Spanish, Italians, and Greeks before the 20th century were all able to end the Muslim threats to their lands through resistance--I would still not want to passively roll over to this kind of evil.

Kudos to the AAP for this candid phrasing. In most of the Western press you would never find such honest reference to violent Jihad--at best you would find some vague reference to generic "terrorsim", and--increasingly--the entire incident would be treated as a law enforcement issue.
In addition, and perhaps even more astonishingly, they refer to the plotters as "devout Muslims"--rather than "extremists", or much worse, implying that they were simply acting out of some sort of "mental illness".
