Not that it would surprise me that this law is treated as such, but from what I read it was only banning women as backseat riders on motorcycles, not as the driver.
"Motorcycles"? In a land that's supposedly in the midst of a desperate, aid-dependent, humanitarian crisis? If Gazans are barely subsisting, why is Hamas so concerned about regulating motorcycle-riding behavior, monitoring male/female fraternization, and enforcing proper head attire for women to begin with?

Israel maintains an imperfect blockade on the Gaza due to the rocket attacks, suicide bombings, weapons smuggling, and kidnappings engaged in by Hamas. Israeli restraint in the face of such provocations continues to amaze me. We can imagine what Egypt or Jordan(and this country has done this in the past) would do to counter such aggression.
That is not a scene from Gaza or the West Bank, even though it would be comforting if it were. Also, I would go on a ride with her. Islamists seem to simultaneously loathe and fear women. This seems to come from Mohammed's sense of inferiority to his first wife, who essentially picked him and ran a successful and profitable business. Women in Islam have suffered for this ever since.

The Muslim parts of Nigeria have a similar ban on women riding scooters and motorcycles. They're not doing it for fun. Women must ride with friends or spouses in order to get to work. Call it commuting for the semi-poor. Islamists don't want women to be working. They would prefer that the women stay home and have lots of babies. Working women are a threat because it gives them independence, self-esteem, and contact with people who actually think.
hmm i wounder if any of the muslim men supporting banning motorcycle were at bike week in datona or at sturgis and after seeing just how little the biker chicks were warring in that heat it could be jealousy at how much better looking western woman are
