When a Muslim land is attacked, it becomes the individual duty of every Muslim to do what he can to participate in the jihad to defend it. That is the rationale behind Al-Qaeda's call here, and the background of its grievance-mongering. Rome, 7 October (AKI) - A leading Al-Qaeda militant on Wednesday called on Muslims worldwide to defend Uighurs in China's restive northwestern region of Xinjiang. He told Uighurs to prepare for a holy war or Jihad and urged a "vast media campaign" to raise awareness of their fate at the hands of "oppressive" China.
In the video posted to jihadist websites, Abu Yahya al-Libi appeared to launch a frontal assault against China.
"This massacre is not being carried out by criminal Crusaders or evil Jews who have committed crimes against our nation," al-Libi stated.
"Today, a new massacre is being carried out by Buddhist nationalists and communists against the Muslim population in eastern Turkestan," said al-Libi.
Islamists call Xinjiang East Turkestan. Uighurs are Muslims native to Xinjiang province, and have cultural ties to Turkic peoples in Central Asia.
"There is no way to remove injustice and oppression without a true return to their (Uighurs) religion and ... serious preparation for Jihad in the path of God the Almighty and to carry weapons in the face of those (Chinese) invaders," he said.
"It is a duty for Muslims today to stand by their wounded and oppressed brothers in East Turkestan ... and support them with all they can," al-Libi added.
Al-Libi claims terrible crimes are being perpetrated in Xinjiang "which nobody can see," urging a media campaign to give these crimes the same visibility as those "carried out by westerners against Muslims."
He also accused China of using "satanic ways" to oppress Muslims in the province and replace them with other ethnicities while "looting their wealth and undermining their culture and religion."...
Of course, the thing to be borne firmly in mind is this: when Al-Qaeda (or any other similar jihad outfit) speaks of 'injustice and oppression' it does not in fact mean what we Infidels mean by that phrase. It is not the NATURE of Infidel Chinese rule over Muslims that Al Qaeda objects to, at bottom; it is the *fact* of Infidel Chinese rule over Muslims.
'Injustice' = 'contrary to sharia'. That is: in that region, at the moment, the Infidels rule and Infidel laws prevail rather than sharia. Infidels rule over Muslims: that is by definition a state of 'injustice', because 'justice', to the muslim mind, involves muslims having total domination over non-Muslims, up to and including the right to kill, rob and rape them at will, with impunity; anything else is 'oppression'. It is 'justice' when Muslims rule non-Muslims; it is 'oppression' when non-Muslims rule over (or even simply enjoy civil and legal equality with) Muslims.
Were East Turkestan free and independent, but were its people primarily Christian and Buddhist, with Muslims in a minority, and with either Christian or Buddhist rulers and institutions, or perhaps a western-style secular state and freedom of religion, Al-Qaeda would *stil*l regard such a state of affairs as 'injustice and oppression'.

Something to think about.
The possibility of the current Chinese regime doing as their Chinese forefathers have always done against the Mohammedans (don't forget the Muslims have been grinding away at China's western flank ever since the 8th century; this is not a new fight; in recent history, pre-communist, there were major Jihad uprisings in western and southwest China in the 1860s and in the 1930s), is undoubtedly a satisfying prospect.
However: I doubt that Al Qaeda will encourage its cohorts to distinguish between Chinese in China, and Chinese anywhere else (just as Muslim Jew-hatred doesn't confine itself to citizens of Israel, any Jew will do). And we know that Mohammedans bent on what they are pleased to see as 'revenge' tend to go for the softer targets.
Any visibly Chinese persons and entities *outside* of mainland China, and not even associated in any way with the mainland Chinese regime, might find themselves in the firing line.
If I were Singapore or Taiwan, I would be ramping up security and cracking down hard on the Mohammedan population. Chinese communities in Muslim-dominated Malaysia and Indonesia may find their position suddenly even more precarious than usual.
Mainland Chinese college students and uni students in countries like Australia, or the UK, or Europe, or the USA or Canada, would be advised to keep a weather eye open. Chinese businesses and restaurants, even of long-established diaspora Chinese families, in places like San Francisco or Sydney, would be wise also to watch their backs.
If - like me - you have ethnically-Chinese relatives (my brother has a Chinese immigrant wife), or friends, or business associates...it might be wise to let them know that Al Qaeda has called for jihad against China, and that local wannabe jihadis who are too gutless to go to Sinkiang to take on the Chinese army, might just possibly select *them* instead as a suitable (and softer) target.
When The U.S. mounted an offensive against Afghanistan China moved to seal the narrow corridor between Afghanistan and the Chinese border. They did not want any more muslims in that area. There have been muslim revolts in that region of China and all previous uprisings have been crushed. The revolt in the early 1900's before the Chicoms was duly destroyed. Just shows that muslims don't give up and want to have their ways over indigenous people even if it takes centuries. Makes you want to root for the Chinese.
