US Airways settles intimidation lawsuit filed by Flying Imams

The Flying Imams' lawsuit was "the latest component in a national campaign to intimidate airlines and government agencies from acting prudently to ensure passenger safety." In other words, it was a quintessential stealth jihad effort.

"US Airways, others settle lawsuit filed by Muslim clerics," by Mike Sunnucks for BizJournals.com, October 20 (thanks to James):

A settlement has been reached in a federal lawsuit filed by six Muslim clerics against US Airways and other parties after they were removed from a flight between Minneapolis and Phoenix in 2006.

The imams sued US Airways, the FBI and Minnneapolis-St. Paul International Airport. Other passengers on the flight had expressed concerned about their behavior, which included asking for seat belt extenders, sitting in seats to which they were not assigned, and saying prayers and having discussions in Arabic.

The clerics were removed from the aircraft, questioned and then released without charges.

The imams filed suit in 2007 in U.S. District Court in Minneapolis, claiming they were unlawfully detained. Details of the settlement were not released, but will be presented to the federal court judge who let the case proceed.

"Law enforcement officials did what they believed was appropriate to ensure the safety of travelers based on the information available at the time," said Tom Anderson, general counsel for the Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport in a statement. "We will continue to be vigilant in maintaining the security of Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport and the safety of travelers who use it."...

A disgraceful capitulation to a flagrant shakedown. What ought to have been settled was their hash.

This is ANOTHER Example of how All of our Institutions of Freedom and Justice,in this case, the Judicial System are being USED AGAINST US in The CONSTANT Stealth Jihad.

I'm not an Attorney, but if I'm not mistaken, isn't there something in the Law relating to "The Reasonable Person"___?

Considering Islamofascism's WAR on "The Infidel Kuffir" ie. us,and Airliner Hijacking as a MAJOR Component(thanks to The Palestinians") , 9/11 being the Largest and WORST, it was NOT UNREASONABLE to take the DEFENSIVE steps that were taken, but quite THE OPPOSITE, Entirely REASONABLE and NECESSARY.

What's also APPARENT is that Minnesota, formerly an American version of Scandanavia and symbolized by "The Minnesota VIKINGS",is a Jihadist HOTBED, including being the Home BASE of the Somali Jihadists.

The west is not equipped to handle Islam and it's jihad. Not at all.

Discouraging for all who prize freedom and know full well what those bastards praying really intended-----something very much like this: a legal issue, a settlement, an in-your-face-statement that Islam is now in the West and is here to stay even though it will eradicate Western concepts of liberty bit by bit (using Western freedoms to do so) and in piecemeal fashion implement Sharia in our midst. Everyone who cherishes freedom and knows what Islam is really about should be disgusted about this "incident." A battle lost in this new hundred years war we're in.

Had Mohammed Atta and the other pious-Muslim hijackers been removed on September 11, 2001 - they too would have received an apology and compensation.
Jew Lover

do we know for sure these people were paid by the airline?

My question is why US Airways didn't counter-sue the imams and CAIR for having advanced a frivolous lawsuit of harassment in the first place?

I might be missing something here, but did any one of the six imams actually have a bomb on the aircraft?

They'd got through the airport's security detail, had boarded the flight, before beginning their campaign of jihad and martydom. The details are shocking (look away now if you've a funny tummy): they 'ask[ed] for seat belt extenders, [sat] in seats to which they were not assigned, and [said] prayers and [had] discussions in Arabic.'

Absolutely terrifying. After their detainment, the full extent of these imams' terror intentions should have been clear. Where were the explosives? Still on the plane?

The bastards. How dare they think they could simply have taken a flight in peace, spoken to each other in their own language, and even had the temerity to sit somewhere that wasn't detailed on their ticket. And as for the seat-belt extension request - that's what these terrorists do. They come on board unequipped and hope the stewardess will be nice to them when they ask for a bit of extra kit.

String 'em up, I say.

The Flying Imams and CAIR tried to sue the passengers, the John Doe defendants(a little too soon for that one I guess)

Another grievance event by Phoenix muslims. The Arizona Republic had a whiny story about some muslim youths who were shooting guns(including an assult rifle) tin can target practice out in the desert. They claimed the police showed up and treated them like terrorists and the media whipped it up.. yada-yada. This ran a few weeks before the Mumbia attack.
Then there was some real religious grieving in the local paper- "president of the India Association of Phoenix, learned early Friday that her uncle was among the more than 150 people slain"

"We'll be hoping this doesn't happen again,"

"They'd got through the airport's security detail"..muslim security..Butt probes are next. The imams and profiled muslims will enjoy that..kharma, gotta love it..

This is lawfare at its finest :(

I want my right to discriminate back. The State has taken it from me without spelling out the consequences, by promising that by having me abolish this right, we will get a better and more just society. This is obviously not happening - we're getting into a situation of less security, more fear, and impunity for subversive behavier (CAIR, anyone?)

The government does not do a good job as a surrogate for my personal right to discriminate between right and wrong, proper and indecent. I want my right to discriminate back.

Said one of the imams.."This case sends a strong message to everybody," Shahin said. "And at the same time we still encourage everyone to report any suspicious activity. But we should handle it in a very professional way. We should not humiliate anybody, we should not underestimate anybody, we should not do wrong to anybody." .."but I think I'll sue".

This is your Captain speaking.."Please disregard any suspicious actions of the muslim passengers.Any complaints or notifications or warnings to flight attendants will result in your being sued and/or ejected from the plane". Thank you for flying U.S. Air and enjoy your flight."

This case sends a strong message to everybody,

Usual Islamic intimidation crap. Boy, am I sick of that 'religion'...

I want my right to discriminate back.

No, my heart is not weeping for these poor souls, you fuckwit (WHY would you wish to charaterize me as being such a person? Is it only possible for you to talk in the very same absolutes as the Muslims who DO deserve to be spoken to like that?) but my other organs, and all my senses, are crying out for some fucking evidence that what these imams did was jihadistic.

I'm fast beginning to tire of the disapprobation, the rudeness and the intolerance of some of those here who seem not to be able to cope with a rhetorical, devil's advocate counter-view to their own for even the slightest second.

I agree saying prayers (as long as not shouting them) and speaking Arabic should not be a problem. But regarding moving seats and asking for extenders ... I found the following on the net (grain of salt rule applies of course):

--> Three of the men asked for seat-belt extenders, although two flight attendants told police the men were not oversized. One flight attendant told police she "found this unsettling, as crew knew about the six [passengers] on board and where they were sitting." Rather than attach the extensions, the men placed the straps and buckles on the cabin floor, the flight attendant said.

--> "I believe the seat belt extensions create a serious airline security threat. This is one heck of a weapon that has been overlooked. Basically the "heavy" head of this is very heavy with both the latch and the belt adjuster lock thing. In a weapon sense it's a lot like a padlock on a chain or in prison a canned item in a sock. A solid blow to the head can disable and the strap can be used to choke or restrain. I was astounded that these were [allowed for use as] carry on items."

--> Passengers and flight attendants told law-enforcement officials the imams switched from their assigned seats to a pattern associated with the September 11 terrorist attacks and also found in probes of U.S. security since the attacks -- two in the front row first-class, two in the middle of the plane on the exit aisle and two in the rear of the cabin.

--> "That would alarm me," said a federal air marshal who asked to remain anonymous. "They now control all of the entry and exit routes to the plane."

What I dont understand is why they don't just fly on their magic carpets. They would be less culturally alienated and it wouldn't hurt so much when they fly into a building.

Since we know not the terms of the settlement it is too much to assume that the airline has paid out monies. The deal could simply be to call it quits by both sides. Let's wait to see what the settlement involved.

Really getting sick of Islam's self pity. I get profiled all the time. All the time. I don't go around whining about "Germanophobia".
