Iran trying to get nuclear materials via Canada

Why all the secrecy and subterfuge, if the parts were only for the peaceful generation of electricity? "Iran aiming to get nuclear materials via Canada: customs," from Agence France-Presse, October 1:

OTTAWA (AFP) -- Iran is attempting to acquire clandestine shipments via Canada for its nuclear program, a senior customs official said Thursday.
Canadian customs officers have seized everything from centrifuge parts to programmable logic controllers being shipped to Iran through third countries, George Webb, head of the Canada Border Services Agency's Counter Proliferation Section, told the National Post.
The increasing number of cases involves entrepreneurs and state-sponsored cells, Webb told the daily, in comments that were confirmed to AFP by a spokeswoman for CBSA.
Microchips identified as possible "navigational chips" from the United States, Denmark and Japan were marked as headed for the United Arab Emirates, but officials suspect the end destination was Iran, said the Canadian daily.
"With all of the UN sanctions, of course, now no one declares that the goods are going to Iran. They actually declare UAE, Dubai," he said.
The last seizure occurred just last week.
In April, the Royal Canadian Mounted Police charged a Toronto man with attempting to export pressure transducers, which can be used in nuclear power plants but are also required to produce nuclear weapons, to Iran.
Mahmoud Yadegari is to be tried in January for attempting to ship the items to Iran via Dubai.
In another case, high pressure pipes from Texas were originally suspected of containing Mexican drugs, but turned out to be for nuclear use in Iran.
However, "arrests are rare because the procurement cells are difficult to identify," the newspaper said.
Webb also revealed authorities had recently discovered a new port in the Persian Gulf named Ras al-Khaimah being used to transship goods to Iran.
The port is nominally in the UAE, but is controlled by Iran and is situated just across the Gulf from Bandar Abbas, an Iranian city with a naval base and an airport capable of landing large transport planes, he said.

How much of this stuff is made by The Siemens Corporation or one of their subsidiaries ?

The company built much of Iran's new-kew-lahr facilities (and The Russians finished up).

We need some real investigative reporting by the mainstream med....... ahhhh forget it. It's like talking to a wall made of evil.

At least it's nice to see that our Canadian border security is on the ball.
Perhaps they fired all of the Muslim inspectors.
Here's to the RCMP. They've learned a lot from working with the FBI and CIA.

I WOUNDER how much in bribes the mullas had to pay the uae to use the port but its nice ths CBPS really doing more than harassing people with 40 year old misdemeanor records from 60s era veit nam peace protests or turning back old folks with 1 dui conviction that they got when they were 17 and there now 77 (yes i have seen this happen) but it kind of looks like only lie-brill fools know believe that iran only wants nuke plants for power

And in addition to all this smuggling and subterfuge, Iran is now brazenly demanding that the United States just sell them highly enriched uranium--which will somehow prove that their plans for its use are entirely peaceful.

And why not? Who, really, is calling their increasingly obvious bluffs?

Great to see the Canadian security forces and the RCMP on the job, though.

Western countries need to clamp down on any material going to any islamic country. l am disgusted with the way Canada sold CANDU reactors to Pakistan, and now that country is a major exporting terrorists state.

I live in Canada
and it's not going to happen on my watch

Thank goodness Dudley Do-right and his fellow RCMP officers are on the ball.

I am sure glad that Dubai did not get the deal to operate US seaports!

Yes, indeed--I was stunned that it was ever proposed--especially post-9/11. I was heartened, though, by the level of protest against it. And they did back down--despite all the comments about how "racist" and "Islamophobic" such protests were.

Handing over operation of your seaports to *any* foreign power is insane--I would not do this even with staunch allies such as Britain or France (nor would I be offended if they declined an American bid to run their own seaports, of course).

But to entertain the idea that the meretricious Dubai constituted a likely source for such a service was just mind-boggling.

This has always bothered me:

I feel like Canada has an educational institution that is actively partnering with Iran and providing expertise and connections that could be used or abused to facilitate the regime's nuclear and military ambitions.

I saw and read the new report about irans attempts
to finish its nuclear weapons research

now i am sure that since it is all "Peaceful"
and since Islam is the relgion of Pieces

That All the entire world has to do is sit down
and talk to the Islamic cleric wakos..

I mean im sure they will understand and immidiatly
obey the infidel west.

I mean why would they want nukes anyway
unless they really want to wipe out the jews
christians, infidels and earthworms..

So to all the liberals, democrats and peace activists
I say to you
bring an Islamic nazi into your home
For they mean you no harm..
Just ignore all of the evidence that suggests
they are actually preparing for WW IV..

ust bury your head in the sand
for it will all be over soon..

I don't see the problem here; in view of the fact that the future of the free world is on the line, why don't all we western and other democratic countries simply discontinue any and all exports, mail services, telecommunications etc. to all islamic countries? It's too late in the day for half measures.
But wait - I'm willing to allow one exception; any resident disciple of the great paedophile who wishes to be exported to his country of birth should be given a warm and sincere handshake and a free ticket home.

Pakistan is a greater immediate threat to Israel and America than Iran. Unless there is a move to destroy Pakistan's nuclear capability, it could end up in Taliban hands and, as reported this morning on the BBC news, they will use it.

RIP the eight American soldiers killed in Afghanistan.

Business is Business. Businesses stay In Business by doing Business with others who want to do Business. Business goes where Business is being done. Business has always done Business with others who want to do business. Doing Business with some Businesses only alters the price of the final Business conducted.

Risky Business is just, well, pricier.

What is really hard to understand is why it seems kind of OK for Iran to have a Nuclear Business while the USA cannot.

Would it not be better for the USA to absorb the Brain Trust in this field by developing our own Nuclear capacity? Eliminate the need for so many "freelancers". Give the Businesses in this field, all the Business they can handle. Remove the need to conduct "Shady" Business to stay in Business.

Iran is also suspected of having a backup facility in Syria, which doesn't feature too much on the news.

Sadly, Canadian Academia has been entirely co-opted by radical Muslims from Iran, Egypt and Pakistan. Mark Steyn has a lot to say about this....seek out his articles on the subject.
