"Arab Reaction Overwhelmingly Positive to Obama Nobel Prize," by Edward Yeranian for the Voice of America, October 9 (thanks to News4U):
[...] Jamal Khashoggi, who is the editor and publisher of the influential Saudi daily Al-Watan noted that he believes Mr. Obama won the Peace prize for his overtures to the Arab and Islamic world, and especially for his June address at Cairo University.
" It is a good sign and it is very quick for a president to receive the Nobel Prize even though he didn't finish a whole year in his term," said Khashoggi. "But, his speech in Cairo was a very good blueprint for peace. He did not only address Israeli's interests as American presidents usually do, he addressed also Palestinians concerns and rights. Not only Palestinians ... he even talked to Hamas. That was really good. I was there in Cairo and I was very much impressed. It is a very good step. I just hope that Hamas and others in the Palestinian camp will realize that."
The popular, Saudi-owned Al-Arabiya TV broke into its regular news programming to make the announcement that President Obama had won the prize, noting that the President had taken "many extraordinary steps in trying to achieve a rapprochement with the Arab and Islamic world."
Of all the 'crimes' (real and imagined) George Bush is guilty of, there is one that he should be held responsible
for:
Paving the way for Thug-In-Chief to become President
I don't blame Bush for being Bush, I blame Bush for
providing a deleterious domestic political environment in the US that led to Obama's election. Bush deserves credit
for keeping the country safe from terrorism and he
deserves blame for emboldening Leftwing entitlement
minorities and gender-benders and academics in putting
Thug-In-Chief in Office.
W proclaimed Islam a "religion of peace" on September 12.
He's definitely guilty for that. He should have crushed the Islamic Barbarians.
I'm not American so I'm asking those of you who are.
Doesn't a person have to be born in America to become the President? Isn't that one of the requirements?
If 0obama has won this prize then the concept of "peace" has been given an Islamic makeover.
"oobama"? Sorry about that, Mr O.
“His diplomacy is founded in the concept that those who are to lead the world must do so on the basis of values and attitudes that are shared by the majority of the world's population.”
Does not the majority of the worlds population poses perfect mediocrity, not to mention an IQ not exceeding 100. Besides England, Australia and for a time Spain, what other people or country has been in the cross-hair of the islamist. How can the “majority” of the world place proper value on what is necessary for the defense our own countrymen when they from a safe distance cooly philosophize their ideals.
Brace yourselves folks, this latest farce has further guaranteed that obama will singularly be responsible for paving the way for the irreversible decent into permeant insecurity as he is ineffectual at stopping the islamist country of iran from acquiring nuclear weapons. A continuos perpetual condition which will hold us hostage and lead to the loss of millions of life.

ROP has a followup on that enchanting zoo Gaza.

They painted stripes on two donkeys to make them look like zebras and the children loved it!
The story begins during the 2006 war when Hamas rigged the zoo and school next door with explosives in the hopes of triggering an international incident. The IDF bypassed the booby trapped buildings. But the people being afraid of the Israelis and Hamas(they could be called collaborators) stayed away during the month of fighting and the zebras starved to death :(
The talking heads tonight on nation TV (the MSM) said everyone was surprise and asking why, why, why is Obama getting the Noble Prize for Peace? The MSM have concocted a story about a pent-up reaction against former Pres. Bush. I could write a few paragraphs about that fairytale.
I am interested in connecting the dots in another way. With everyone asking "why". It is obvious that no one can think of a reason for him getting the prize. That is why they were asking "why". They all know he has done nothing to deserve it. The only thing he has done is bow and scrap to the whole world and apologize for America's past sins.
The MSM's lame explanation just adds further evidence that they have no idea why he should get it because he has done nothing to deserve the award. They are just following 'O' play book when in dought blame Bush.
(Yes, I thought there was something missing from the BBC version of the Gaza zoo story I saw. Oops, some Gazans rigged the zoo with explosives. Oh, let's just leave that part out.)
On the Nobel Prize to Obama, it's clear who is pleased about it, mostly the Left and Muslims. The Nobel Prize committee has crassly politicized the award. It's good they gave it now when it is laughable, so they won't be able to give it later (hopefully!) when it might be the straw that breaks someone's back.
I heard about this early this morning on KCBS news radio. My first reaction was WTF? Even in San Francisco, where Obama enjoys huge continued support, most people interviewed were more bemused than anything.
Obama hasn't really accomplished any sort of "peace"--he hasn't, as yet, accomplished much of anything--which, given his aims, is largely a good thing.
But groveling apologies for the United States and the West--especially to the Muslim world--are apparently enough these days. "Dialoguing" with dictators and tyrants apparently constitutes "peace". The rest is all "hope and change".
All I can say is that Obama's winning the Nobel Peace Prize isn't as offensive as its being awarded to Yasser Arafat. This is damning with faint praise. At this point, the Nobel Peace Prize is nothing more than a political tool--not something that any reasonable person can take seriously.
