Is this really a surprise to anyone in Britain??
It has been obvious to most people. And although denied by the mainstream media, People have been talking about it for several years now. At bus stops, at work, at the park, at parties. The government has betrayed it's own population.
It is as though they hate their own people.

And it occured to me that by merely changing 'UK' to 'USA', the article describes--in great measure--the problem we similarly face here.

Nice catch Marisol. I was completely guffawed at the number. Latest estimates of the UK population is 61.4 Million. 2.5 million turns out to be nearly a 4% increase.

For Canada roughly estimated since the 2006 Census, 2009 we should be at 33.8 million, that would = 1.4 million. In reality, as of 2006, since appox 1997, Canada absorbed 1.9 million immigrants of which 144 000 came from Dar al-Harb. So roughly 10% of Canadian Immigration since 1997 can be estimated as coming from Muslim nations.

I don’t know if the Brits have an agency similar to StatsCan, but it would be interesting to work out their immigration percentage since 1997 coming from Dar al-Harb.

According to the US Census Bureau, the current American pop sits at 307.8 million, which would mean an equal proportional amount of immigrant increase as has happened in the UK would = 12.3 million. The 2006-2009 US survey estimates puts it at 21.6 million. The current Muslim pop in the US (wiki) put it at 2.4 million. This total being %10 of the total immigration number from the last 3 years, but not 10% of that actual immigration over this same period. Which means, the US has been taking a lower percentage of muslim immigrants overall compared to Canada.

This seems to fit the one theory that we’ve been able to avoid most islamic based terror attacks because they have to many relatives here; if only that were truly the case.

If anyone has the stats on the UK muslim % since 1997, that would be cool to compare, considering the amount of disturbances they have caused compared to the US and Canada (caused by, as Hugh put it, "...(those who)carry with them in their mental baggage the ideology of Islam."

The people voted for "New" Labour. It won election after election even as it failed to keep its promise to crack down on immigration. Why? Maybe because the economy was good and people didn't feel threatened?
What has happened since 2001? Heck, what has happened just since the London bombings? Have the people thrown out Labour? WILL they throw them out? Will they hold those they vote for to a standard?
In the end people living in democracies have no excuse. They get the government they deserve. The people of Britain didn't want to sully themselves by associating with BNP. Was Labour really that great? Are the Tories so noble? What do the people want? More freebies? Then that's what they'll get, with multiculturalism thrown in for good measure. They'll find they can't have one without the other.
What will the British people do in the next election? Either they care enough about their history, language and culture to defend it or they don't.
The scary thought is that America is no more than a few decades behind Britain in this area. We're set to grant a new amnesty to illegals. We'll have one hundred million additions thanks to chain migration. Where are the environmentalists? More people means more trees cut down, more roads built, less open space.
Americans won't vote against even illegal immigration. It means associating with the likes of Pat Buchanan and Tom Tancredo. Can't have that, can we? These people should be hounded into exile. They would be considered genocidal killers if in a non-Western country. The US has its own political scum--Edward Kennedy being the godfather of autogenocide. Ironically, it has only hurt Irish Americans, but steal from them and act like returning part of the theft is a gift, and you will get cheers from the ignorant constituents. Enough to get reelected, with the help of grateful new immigrants (who are generally better off then their fellow countrymen they often robbed and the left behind).

The man suffering from Adult-Onset Islam above missed my point, missed all kinds of points, in his animated reply. He speaks of "colonialism" and "imperialism," those old standbys, but in doing so, he fails to recognize that Islam itself, or rather the Arab supremacism of which Islam is a vehicle, has been the most successful imperialism, for the Arabs, in history, above all, and most damaging for those who were first islamized and then arabized (some peoples managed to resist the second -- see Iran, for example), led to a forgetting, by the conquered countries, of their own pre-Islamic past. Christian missionaries translated the Bible into many local languages, and in many cases, that preserved those languages for they had never been written down before. But the Arabs were different. They had no interest in the preservation of local languages; indeed, as recently as a few years ago the Arabs in Algeria were still attempting to stamp out, by forbidding the use outside the home of, Tamazight, the Berber language. Christianity has a universal message, but it is not one that turns everyone into a little Englishman or Frenchman or Italian. But with Islam it is different. Ideally one should take an Arab name, read the Qur'an only in Arabic, turn Meccawards five times a day, and sedulously ape the morals and manners of seventh-century Arabs living in the Hijaz. The late Anwar Sheik, who left Islam, wrote a number of piercing studies, and one was entitled "Islam: The Arab National Religion." 80% of the world's Muslims are non-Arabs. The less aid they send them -- none should be sent, for it makes no sense to support those who are not only your mortal civilisational enemmies, but who should be forced to confront, by enduring, the consequences of Islam that result in economic backwardness that is only temporarily hidden by the vast unmerited oil (and natural gas) wealth, a wealth that through taxation by the oil-consuming countries, and great, necessary, changes in energy policy, can and will be diminished.

My entire strategy, the one I have harped on for the last five years, is to do everything not to increase but to limit contacts with Muslims. Do not give them access to Western education and Western technology, with which to hasrm us. Do not allow them into our countries. Do not make our countries Islam-friendly but, either through private initiative, or through government action, make sure that no comprommises are made, no yieldings, no surrenders, to Muslim demands for changes in anything. Do not allow Muslims to dictate, and even to rewrite, our textbooks and our history. Do not allow Muslims to silence discussion of Islam, especially by apostates from Islam, such as Ibn Warraq, Ali Sina, Ayaan Hirsi Ali, Nonie Darwish, Wafa Sultan, Magdi Allam. Do not allow, at any level, silencing of intelligent discussion of the contents of Qur'an, Hadith, and Sira. Do not allow foreign governments and individuals to transfer vast sums to support such groups as CAIR, to buy up influence at colleges and universities, to pay for a small army of Western hirelings -- academics, journalists, businessmen, former diplomats and intelligence agents -- as has been allowed, in the capitals of the West, for too long.

There is much more. But Islam, the threat of Islam, the instruements of Jihad -- the Money Weapon, campaigns of Da'wa, demographic conquest -- can be recognized, anlayzed, and checked or checkmated. This does not require what the Adult-Onset Muslim poster calls "violent confrontation." Remove troops from Iraq, Afghanistan, Pakistan, and more importantly, end all aid. Then watch the spectacle in those countries, and in Somalia, and in Yemen, and everywhere -- and as the Arabs begin to realize, with a panic, that they will no longer be bailed out, in a thousand ways, by the West, that panic will lead to still more divisions, ethnic and sectarian and economic, and more demoralization, and more strife.

And we can watch, and so can the world's Muslims, as we show them not only that we now, in sufficient numbers, grasp the nature of Islam and its effects on the minds of men, but that we understand, and what's more can explain, just how the political, economic, social, intellectual, and moral failures of Muslim states, societies, even families or individuals, suffused with Islam, are explained by Islam itself, its teachings, and the attitudes and atmospherics that naturally arise from those teachings. It will be fun. It will be bracing. And it will minimize the need for military or "violent" confrontation.

I am amazed at how long it has taken, by dint of constant repetition, to win over readers to this site. And I am amazed at how long it will take, apparently, to convince those who are slip-sliding on banana peels still along the corridors of power where, for example, all the wrong reasons, or vague reasons, or no coherent reasons at all, were given for the folly in Iraq, and are now being given for the Af-Pak folly, when there are much cheaper, easier, and not at all less ruthless ways, of dealing with the world-wide threat that the adherents of the ideology of Islam pose to the well-being of the West, and indeed to the well-being of All the Rest.

Apologies if someone above has already made the point, but this all makes perfect sense politically: Most immigrants are poor and non-white...the majority of their votes would go to Labour. Whatever deleterious effects this immigration might have on the future well-being of Britain matters to them not one iota.

This piece is a real bombshell, IMO. Of course, most of the readers here already knew that mass immigration was really about multicultural ideology, but this piece really is a smoking gun---Bat Y'eor and Fjordman have been right all along. What other word is there for these multiculturalists other than "traitors"? How sick and warped is the philosophy of multiculturalism, where the leftist elites so despise their own people and culture that they're secretly engaging in a plan to replace the native population with an alien culture? I don't think people realize the magnitude of this. Has this ever happened in any civilization on such a large scale? Both the elites and many of the people who vote for them actually loath themselves and their own culture. It's pathological, twisted, warped--the pinnacle of a diseased ideology. For pity's sake, even the Chinese Communists, trying to destroy China's traditional culture during the Cultural Revolution, didn't even go so far as to actually bring in another people to replace the Chinese. It boggles the mind.

Immigration beyond a certain point begins to become a prescription for national suicide (especially when combined with multicultural nonsense). Britain is advanced in this regard in this perverse death wish and, sadly, America is not far behind. Western Civilization, which achieved more by far than any other civilization in history, forgot that taking pride in one's achievements and not apologizing to excess for one's faults are key factors in preserving any civilization. Getting ready for a new post to address some more issues, it is still forming in my head at the moment though.

Man, this just infuriates me the more I think about it. Muslims and Islam really aren't the main problem. We can see for ourselves what Islam is by looking at Islamic texts, Islamic jurisprudence, and the end result in Islamic countries. It's a weak, primitive, failed civilization that doesn't really create anything the West would want---scientifically, politically, theologically, artistically, legally, or financially. By all logic, Islam SHOULDN'T have threatened the West at all, on any level, at this stage in history. But this poisonous ideology of western liberalism and multiculturalism saw Muslims as a useful tool in their never-ending war against Western civilization, and that's exactly where we are now. We don't just have one Quisling in the West nowadays---we have a Quisling ideology.

I am not going to pretend that I am a diversity-monger. I am in the process of moving and one of the most important criteria is the demographic make up of my future neighborhood. I do not want to live in an area that is not majority white. I do not hate non-whites, but where they form a majority, the crime rates a much, much higher and I have my family's and my safety to think. The BNP is applying this on a national scale.

I'm afraid I'm not won over by his plan. Much of it is good, but it tends to skirt around one additional thing that as the decades unfold will become not only exigent, but unavoidable (and which should be exigent now if not yesterday): Total Deportation of All Muslims from the West.

And without that one addition, the millions of Muslims already within the West now -- and the millions more who will have been bred and will have immigrated in the meantime while the West takes its sweet time to wake up to Hugh's prescriptions -- will become lit tinder everywhere throughout the West. Deporting them sooner will avoid much blood, chaos and mess. This was because the regular officers in councils were leaking information to the press about the extent of the services being made available to asylum-seekers. I think mosques should be closed down as well. Islam should be stripped of its religious status and dealt with as one deals with other death cults.

How many of my fellow citizens have to literally lose their lives so that islam can continue its death dance? We should have zero tolerance for the islamic system. Can you imagine giving up your life so that islam can spread? Not one more single individual should have life taken from them so that islam can live.
