Son of jihadist Detroit imam caught in Canada; two other jihadists still at large

"Abdullah beat children with sticks at his Detroit mosque, the complaint claimed, and was trained with his followers in the use of firearms, martial arts and swords." Imagine the national media frenzy if that sentence were about a Catholic priest or an evangelical pastor. But this story will get media notice only because Abdullah was killed -- and much of it will probably center on questions of whether the shooting constitutes "Islamophobia."

Detroit Jihad Update. "Son of Radical Islam Leader Killed in FBI Shootout Caught in Canada," from FoxNews, October 29 (thanks to Mackie):

One of three people sought by the FBI was captured in Canada Thursday and two were still on the loose after a federal raid and deadly shooting of a radical Islam leader whose goal authorities say was to take down the U.S. government.

Federal authorities in Detroit said the son of 53-year-old Luqman Ameen Abdullah, who was killed in Wednesday night's shootout with FBI agents, was arrested across the border in Windsor, Ontario.

The Royal Canadian Mounted Police took 30-year-old Mujahid Carswell, who was considered armed and dangerous, into custody Thursday. No other details were released.

Carswell was among 11 people charged Wednesday in a criminal complaint in federal court in Detroit.

Andrew Arena, the head of the FBI office in Detroit, says the men follow "a very hybrid radical ideology" that mainstream Muslims "would not recognize."

It would be interesting to see him explain the differences. But probably this statement arises either from ignorance or from a desire to provide some politically correct cover.

Two were still at large: 30-year-old Yassir Ali Khan of Warren and Ontario, and 33-year-old Mohammad Philistine of Ontario.

Abdullah was killed in a gunbattle in the Detroit suburb of Dearborn as federal agents tried to arrest him on a number of charges including conspiracy to sell stolen goods and the illegal possession and sale of firearms.

Abdullah repeatedly told followers that the U.S. government was their enemy and they should be willing to fight the FBI, even if it meant death, according to the criminal complaint against him.

"You cannot have a nonviolent revolution," Luqman Ameen Abdullah said, according to a 2008 conversation secretly recorded by a confidential FBI source.

Abdullah was killed Wednesday at a warehouse in Dearborn, where agents were attempting to arrest him. FBI spokeswoman Sandra Berchtold said Abdullah refused to surrender, fired a weapon and was killed by gunfire from agents.

He was one of 11 people named in a criminal complaint after a two-year investigation.

Among the others charged with Abdullah and in custody were a state prison inmate, the U.S. attorney's office said....

Abdullah beat children with sticks at his Detroit mosque, the complaint claimed, and was trained with his followers in the use of firearms, martial arts and swords.

Neither Abdullah nor his co-defendants were charged with terrorism. But he was "advocating and encouraging his followers to commit violent acts against the United States," FBI agent Gary Leone wrote in an affidavit filed with the complaint.

The FBI said Abdullah, also known as Christopher Thomas, was an imam, or prayer leader, of a radical group named Ummah whose primary mission is to establish an Islamic state within the U.S.

Abdullah told followers that it was their "duty to oppose the FBI and the government and it does not matter if they die" and to "simply shoot a cop in the head" if they wanted the officer's bulletproof vest, Leon wrote.

The affidavit also said bombs, guns and even the recipe for TNT were among Abdullah's regular topics with his allies. Group members and former members said they were "willing to do anything Abdullah instructs and/or preaches, even including criminal conduct and acts of violence," the FBI agent wrote.

He and his followers were American born, mostly African-American converts to Islam....

I see that idea worked out so well for him.

"He and his followers were American born, mostly African-American converts to Islam....

The single-digit IQ Prison inmates.

The "Kill" ideology appeals to psychopaths.

May all terrorists meet a similar fate.

I'm watching WXYZ TV local Detroit news right now.

As far as the dog is concerned, his name was Freddy, is believed to have saved lives, and was shot by the imam himself.

"Awsome!" [sic]

awesome, Abu, because you see a battle now joined and made exciting by bloodshed? is this your sentiment, expressed like some teeniebopper?

this is awful for what it portends ... however, expected, because the Koran and the socalled exemplary leader of yours continually encourages the base and contemptible in any of the true adherants. there will be no true revolution brought, only, chaos and grief.

Also that the two suspects (one arrested) that are at large live in Windsor. :(

That's my hometown folks. The city I was chased out of by a Pakistani landlord.

Abdullah indicated to an informant that most of the funding, in fact, came from Canada.

I shudder to think what we're harbouring, and considering there is only a one-mile-wide river separating Windsor and Detroit, if the RCMP were serious about terrorism, they'd be turning Windsor's mosque upside down right now.

this might please Allah. it does not please the Living God.

One of the arrested, Porter, was actually a Detroit public school gym teacher.

From post above....because the Koran and the socalled exemplary leader of yours continually encourages the base and contemptible in any of the true adherants.

'Exemplary leader'...Who's that?

OK Robert, et al, now what can I do besides posting frequently about the goals of Islam and the horror of jihad to make a difference? I already know what we are facing and I want to do more to help.

Robert, Pamela, Geert and all of the rest of the heroes--I would be honored to stand with you anywhere, anytime. Unfortunately, I am disabled and no longer able to earn a living, so traveling is financially all but impossible without financial help, but my mind is still working just fine.

I am not afraid to stand with you. Anywhere. I want to contribute all I can of myself and my time to save our country from evil.

I have asked before and I will ask again, what else can I do to help? Feel free to e-mail me and let me know.

The head of the FBI in Detroit is an expert on Islam and shills for the imaginary peaceful Islam:

"Andrew Arena, the head of the FBI office in Detroit, says the men follow "a very hybrid radical ideology" that mainstream Muslims "would not recognize."

"would not recognize."...Interesting since they all read the same book, and worship the same Prophet...

From the article: "Andrew Arena, the head of the FBI office in Detroit, says the men follow "a very hybrid radical ideology" that mainstream Muslims "would not recognize."

Really?

What are we told about the ideology of this Muslim Gang Boss - oops, Imam, 'prayer leader'?

"Abdullah repeatedly told followers that the U.S. government was their enemy and they should be willing to fight the FBI, even if it meant death"..

"a radical group named Ummah {nb - 'ummah' - the term commonly used for the collectivity of all Muslims, worldwide - dda} whose primary mission is to establish an Islamic state within the U.S".

I think Hassan al-Banna, theorist of the Muslim Brotherhood, would recognise the ideology of Luqman Abdullah and his cohorts just fine - after all, Hassan al-Banna said, 'Islam is to dominate, and not be dominated'. (And in that he was echoing many traditional Islamic texts and authoritative writers).

I think Maududi would recognise Luqmann Abdullah's ideology just fine:

"Islam wishes to destroy all states and governments anywhere on the face of the earth which are opposed to the ideology and program of Islam regardless of the country or the nation which rules it.

"The purpose of Islam is to set up a state on the basis of its own ideology and programme, regardless of which nation assumes the role of the standard-bearer of Islam or the rule of which nation is undermined in he process of the establishment of an ideological Islamic state.

"It must be evident to you from this discussion that the objective of Islamic jihad is to eliminate the rule of an un-Islamic system and establish in its stead an Islamic system of state rule.

"Islam does not intend to confine this revolution to a single state or a few countries; the aim of Islam is to bring about a universal revolution" - Sayyid Abul Ala Maududi, 'JIhad in Islam', [Beirut: Holy Koran Publishing House, 1980], p. 9 - cited by Nonie Darwish in 'Cruel and Usual Punishment', page xvi.

And now for some additional evidence from a book 'Even Angels Ask' by Jeff Lang, an Anglo-American convert to Islam, as reported here by a regular jihadwatch poster in discussion earlier this year (I apologise for not preserving the name of the poster; this material was reported in a comment during the IntenseDebate era, so you will not, alas, find it in the archives).

'What does Lang have to say about the impact of Islamic jurisprudence?

"A minority of Muslims ... believes that we must remain cognizant of the historical context of Muhammad's actions and sayings and that if we are to apply his example correctly, we must be alert to the many differences that exist between his time and ours...

"The main assumption behind the stricter approach is that the best and most efficient way to derive moral and spiritual benefit from Muhammad's life example is by imitating him as closely as possible." (p. 104)

Further:

"Almost all Muslim religious leaders ... uphold the classical dar al Islam/dar al harb concept ...
"*This poses a very difficult personal dilemma for many converts, because it seems to them that to become a Muslim, they are required to become enemies of their own countries* {my emphasis - dda} (p. 119)

'And Lang writes of his own experience attending a Muslim lecture at an American mosque in the early 80s:

"The second lecture was given by Hisham, a very bright medical student who had been studying in America for almost two years. I liked and respected Hisham very much...

"Hisham spoke that night about a Muslim's duties and responsibilities... His speech was very moving and had been running about an hour when he closed it with the following unexpected and stern remark.

"Finally, we must never forget--and this is extremely important--that as Muslims, we are obligated to desire, and when possible to participate in, the overthrow of any non-Islamic government--anywhere in the world--in order to replace it by an Islamic one."

"Hisham!" I interrupted. "Are you implying that Muslim American citizens are to commit themselves to the destruction of the U.S. government?--That they are to be a fifth column in America--a secret revolutionary group seeking to overthrow the government? Do you mean that when an American converts to Islam he must commit himself to political treason?!"

"I thought that by presenting Hisham with a very extreme scenario, it would force him to soften or qualify his statement.

"He looked down at the floor as he pondered my question momentarily. Then he looked at me with an expression that reminded me of a doctor about to break the news to his patient that his tumor is malignant.

"Yes," he said. "Yes, that's true." (p. 117).
END EXCERPT.

Let's hear that again - the ipsissima verba of one 'Hisham', two years a medical student in the USA, most certainly an Arab/ised Muslim, quite possibly regarded as 'moderate' and a fine fellow by his non-Muslim fellow students in med school, laying it on the line for an American-turned-Muslim:

"as Muslims, we are obligated to desire, and when possible to participate in, the overthrow of any non-Islamic government--anywhere in the world--in order to replace it by an Islamic one".

Now for Jeff Lang's own blunt interpretation of the meaning of that statement - "Are you implying that Muslim American citizens are to commit themselves to the destruction of the U.S. government?--

"That they are to be a fifth column in America--a secret revolutionary group seeking to overthrow the government?

"Do you mean that when an American converts to Islam he must commit himself to political treason?!"

And the reply of the pious mainstream Muslim, right there in an unnamed mosque, somewhere in the USA (I wonder, if one checked the Jeff Lang book, whether he goes so far as to name that mosque?) - "Yes," he said. "Yes, that's true."

Luqman Abdullah's understanding of his duties as a Muslim, and the aims he was inculcating in his followers, conform perfectly with the duties of the Muslim and the aims of Islam, as stated by Maududi - a mainstream, traditional Muslim if ever there was one, published in Beirut - and also as stated by this Muslim lecturer, one 'Hisham', in a mosque in the USA in the 1980s.

Luqman Abdullah's ideology looks just like plain old Islam, to me. Nothing 'hybrid' or 'radical' about it at all; nothing in it that Jeff Lang's Muslim lecturer wouldn't recognise.

Spirit Wolf - maybe you can do a memorial drawing of the FBI dog, Freddy, who died 'in the line of duty' - represent him in his spirit form, rather like a patronus in the Harry Potter stories. And of course, sign it with your nom de plume from here - 'Spirit Wolf'.

Send it to the FBI in Detroit as a thank-you note from a grateful Canadian neighbour who is glad to have one less jihad gangster in the vicinity to worry about; and ask them to pass it on to the dog's handler. It might make him feel a little better, to know that his dear animal friend and colleague's death has not gone unnoticed or unmourned.

You might like to know that if the dog was called 'Freddy', the name Frederick means 'peace rule', from Old German frithu and ric. So 'Freddy' the FBI dog was killed helping his non-Muslim human partners defend the peace and good order of America, against the followers of the Religion of Blood and War who were plotting to destroy that peace and replace it with their hideous peace-that-is-no-peace.

"Abdullah ..Abdullah ..Abdullah" ...i am sooo sick of that name. Barf bag.

DEARBORN/DETROIT/SE MICHIGAN AND CANADA ACROSS THE RIVER.
ANY DOUBTS WHY ISLAMISTS MADE IT THEIR HOME BASE?
NO COINCIDENCE THERE.

Here is a picture of Freddy--a handsome dog. He is a Belgian Malinois, which seems, from his looks, to be closely related to the German Shepherd.

I think Dumbledore's Army's idea is a good one--I would love to see your take on a tribute to brave Freddy.

More from the good, devout folks at the Mosque:

Photographer Attacked at Mosque

DEARBORN, Mich. - FOX 2's Brad Edwards and crew went to the Dearborn Mosque Wednesday where a group was suspected of plotting crimes. Earlier in the day, the leader of this Mosque was fatally shot while exchanging gunfire with federal agents.

But just as soon as they arrived along with a crew from the Detroit News, they told him to leave, or else.

After they said no, it got ugly, and our cameras were rolling.

Several men can be seen smashing the camera of News photographer Ricardo Thomas after witnesses say they pushed him, threw punches and kicked him while on the ground.

"33-year-old Mohammad Philistine of Ontario."

"Mohammad Philistine?!" How completely appropriate. Yep - we're all agreed - you're frickin' philistines, the 7th century AD Arabian kind.
