ISLAMABAD, Pakistan (Reuters) - A car bomb ripped through a crowded market killing 90 people in Pakistan's city of Peshawar on Wednesday, just hours after Washington's top diplomat arrived pledging a fresh start in sometimes strained relations.Wednesday's bomb, the latest urban attack since the army launched a major assault on rural Taliban strongholds two weeks ago, was the deadliest since 2007 when around 140 died at a procession to welcome home former prime minister Benazir Bhutto, who was assassinated just weeks later.
The bomb went off in the busy Peepal Mandi market street in a city that for years served as the headquarters of the Pakistan- and U.S.- backed mujahideen war against the Soviet Union's occupation of Afghanistan.
Although nobody claimed responsibility, suspicion immediately fell on Pakistani Taliban militants who are the target of the army offensive....
Hours after the blast, visiting U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton told a news conference that Washington fully supported Pakistan's battle.
"I want you to know that this fight is not Pakistan's alone," she said.
"So this is our struggle as well and we commend the Pakistani military for their courageous fight and we commit to stand shoulder to shoulder with the Pakistani people in your fight for peace and security."
Sahib Gul, a doctor at Peshawar's main hospital, said the dead from Wednesday's bomb were mostly women and children.
"Several buildings and a mosque have been badly damaged while a fire has engulfed buildings," witness Aqueel-ur-Rehman told Reuters from the market, which mostly deals in groceries and household goods....

If one were to wake up in the morning, in the United States, in Canada, in Australia, in Great Britain, in France, in Italy, in Denmark, in the Netherlands, in all the countries of Western Europe, and were to read every day the latest news of mayhem and murder among Muslims, and day after day the spectacle of that Jihad news from within Dar al-Islam, by those Muslims who took their Islam most to heart, straight and not on the rocks, against not Infidels but against those Muslims who were not willing to take Islam unmodified and unnuanced by time and custom that made its unbearableness at least partly bearable, what would be the effect? The effect would be to cause Infidels, all but the criminally insane, in viewing this spectacle, to be forced to recognize the nature of Islam, to identify it, rightly, with aggression and violence, and to worry more about, and take measures to ensure, their own safety and security, in lands where Islam did not yet dominate, but where, through campaigns of Da'wa, deployment of the Money Weapon, and demographic conquest, efforts were underway, seemingly unstoppable (in the conditions of heedlessness and ignorance that have so far obtained in the West) but in fact most stoppable, most un-inexorable.
Remove those troops, get out of the way, and hark what userful discord follows. Intervene only to prevent the acquisitiion, retention, or ability to deliver against Infidels, any and all weapons of mass destruction. Otherwise, nothing. No military aid. No economic aid -- instead, carefully point the Muslim masses of countries whose impoverishment is a result of Islam to go with their begging-bowls to the rich Arab sheiklets, to Saudi Arabia, to their "brothers in the Umma."
Have as little to do with Muslim nations as possible, for such contacts always and everywhere become entangling non-alliances (that, maddeningly, continue by many to be described as "alliances").
There are many earth-shaking problems which the American government now has to deal with. By being preoccupied with its misguided ventures in Iraq, and now Afghanistan, so much else that needs attending to is not. We can't afford this squandering, not only of men, money, materiel, and morale, civilian and military. It is ineffective, it is the wrong policy. Get out o Afghanistan, and Pakistan, taking care only to monitor those nuclear weapons that Pakistan was allowed to acquire, with such crazy and criminal negligence, by the American government heedless of what was going on, and actually supplying the foreign aid to Pakistan that, diverted for A. Q. Khan's little project, made that "Islamic bomb" (as the Pakistanis call it) possible.

Yes, how unfortunate that innocent women and children, just shopping for groceries and household goods, had to die. Still, it was, for some reason, the will of the vicious "god" Allah.
It seems Yom has only the vaguest compassion for these innocent victims of Islam, and then only because they themselves were Muslims.
