Toronto imam who prayed for destruction of Infidels says that only Misunderstanders of Islam would take offense at that

Or as the great Shaidle puts it, "It's all YOUR fault for being morons, you stupid infidels!"

An update on this story. "Address on niqab not meant to be offensive: Imam," by Charles Lewis in the National Post, October 23 (thanks to Kathy Shaidle):

A Toronto imam said on Friday he did not intend to insult non-Muslims during an address at his mosque on those who want the niqab and burka banned.

Said Rageah, the imam at Toronto's Abu Huraira Centre, said that only someone who did not understand Islam would have come away from last Friday's prayers thinking that anyone at his mosque hated members of other faiths.

He was specifically addressing an article that appeared in the National Post on Thursday in which some critics said the language he used was inflammatory.

Imam Rageah used a prayer last week that, in part, said "Allah destroy them from within themselves, and do not allow them to raise their heads in destroying Islam." And in another part of he asked Allah to "damn the infidels."

Right. Destroy them, damn them, but don't hate them. Got it.

Imam Rageah on Friday said in a brief interview that in both references he was not literally meaning "destroy" but rather to confound or weaken those that would infringe on their rights.

In last week's address, he used the word "kuffar" repeatedly, a word some say is highly derogatory of non-Muslims, especially Christians and Jews....

But on Friday, Imam Rageah said the word is mentioned more than 500 times in the Koran and it would make no sense for Allah to have used a word repeatedly that was so offensive.

"The word has more than one meaning," he said. "It's not always negative but it can be negative. Now if the suggestion is, 'Why don't we avoid the word,' that's an excellent suggestion. But until this issue was raised we didn't think people found the word insulting."

Nonsense. In the Koran, it is always negative. To dismiss this by saying that Allah would not have used an offensive word is simply to demand that non-Muslims accept Islamic perspectives and norms. And that is, of course, what this is all about.

When the word is used negatively, he said, it can apply to Muslims who are liars or non-Muslims who are active enemies of the faith....

Imam Rageah said no one group should try to trample the rights of others. For example, he said no Muslim should ever walk up to someone with multi-coloured hair and say that they object to that person's style.

He acknowledged that many countries, including Muslim countries, restrict free speech, and said it was important that Muslims in Canada exercise their rights by writing to MPs and the media to protest those that would restrict their faith.

So you see, free speech is to be used to strengthen Islam in the West, while it is restricted in Muslim countries in order to...strengthen Islam.

Said Rageah sounds a lot like a fellow infidel that President Obama listened to for many years as he attended weekly church services in Chicago. Yep, the Reverend Wright. Rageah would make a nice addition to the Obama cabinet. Perhaps White House minister.

Are non-Muslims allowed in mosques, or is it an exclusionary zone?

Non-Jews are allowed in synagogues, non-Christians allowed in churches,
non-Buddhist allowed in temples, shrines, etc.

Imagine the frustration if non-Muslims were allowed to record, audio and video, all the words and activities that went on inside mosques.

A controversial poem by Erdogan ruffled many feathers a few years ago and continues to hang over his administration like Damocles’ sword. Here are the first lines of that poem.
“The mosques are our barracks
The domes our helmets
The minarets our bayonets and
The faithful our soldiers…”

"But on Friday, Imam Rageah said the word is mentioned more than 500 times in the Koran and it would make no sense for Allah to have used a word repeatedly that was so offensive."--from the article.

Behold the logic! (And does this allow that it would make sense for Allah to use each of several offensive words once rather than "repeatedly"?)

Allah does repeatedly make insults against the non-Muslims, because they are non-Muslims--disbelief in Islam is the worst crime according to the Quran. In the Quran, Allah says lots of offensive things about the non-Muslims:

--are “worst of created beings” (98:6), are “miscreants” (2:99, 24:55), are the worst beasts in Allah’s sight (8:22, 8:55); (some Christians and/or Jews were) turned into “apes and/or pigs” (2:65-66, 5:58-60, 7:166); are like frightened donkeys chased by a lion (74:50-51), are like cattle—nay, worse than cattle (7:179, 25:44), are like dogs (7:176);

--they (idolators) are unclean (9:28); have uncleanness set upon them by Allah (10:100, 6:125); the hypocrites are unclean (9:95).

--“evil” is upon them (16:27), evil (2:91, 2:99); “wicked” (80:42, 9:125); the “wrong-doers” (42:45, 2:254, 5:45); evil-doers (42:44); evil-livers (5:59); they have no good in them (8:23); are “guilty” for disbelieving (45:31, 83:29); on the side of Satan and are fighting for him (4:76-77); of the party of Satan (58:19); Allah assigns them devils for protecting friends (7:27); they choose devils for protecting friends (7:30); are partisan against Allah (25:55); "enemy" (63:4); ungrateful traitors (31:32).

---“perverted” (63:4); disgraced lives (22:9); hypocrites (4:61); are ill (84:20); have a “diseased heart” (2:10, 9:125); in false pride and schism (38:2), in schism (2:137, 2:167);

--fools (2:130); foolish (6:35); deaf, dumb, and blind, and have no sense (2:171); deaf and dumb and in darkness, Allah sends them astray (6:39); have no sense (5:103, 10:100); a folk who do not understand (9:127); their fathers were unintelligent and had no knowledge or guidance (2:170, 5:104); are “a folk without intelligence”/ “most ignorant” (8:65, 6:111); losers who are deceived by Allah (2:6-7), and deceived by Satan (4:60);

--Allah sends devils against them to make them do evil (19:83); Allah cursed them for their unbelief (2:88-89),

--liars/they lie (2:10, 4:50, 6:28, 9:42, 16:39, 16:105, 23:90, 59:11); foolish and liars (7:66), liars and losers (58:18-19),

--“losers” (5:53, 6:31, 7:178-179); among the lowest (58:20); the lowest of the low (95:4-6)

From his National Post remarks..
"As stated in the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms, Canada is founded upon principles that recognize the supremacy of God and the rule of law. And among the fundamental principles which are the cornerstones of this society are the right to free speech, free thought, free expression and the ability to practice one’s own religious beliefs, all within reasonable, justifiable limits. I share and promote these values as they are also Islamic values."

It seems some Muslims actually do have a sense of humour.

"free speech is to be used to strengthen Islam in the West, while it is restricted in Muslim countries in order to...strengthen Islam."

How right you are, Robert!

And did you know that not one of your books is available at our pulic library? I have searched for and requested, again, and again and still no Spencer. I also request Bat Ye'or, Oriana Fallaci, Andrew Bostom, Nonie Darwish, Ibn Warraq, Mark Steyn, Ali Sina, Brigitte Gabriel, and nothing, nada, can't seem to get the books.
What gives?
Perhaps I should check and see if our Canadian Library Association is on the same wavelength as the ALA?
Censorship lives in Canada? Perhaps!

"Said Rageah, the imam at Toronto's Abu Huraira Centre, said that only someone who did not understand Islam would have come away from last Friday's prayers thinking that anyone at his mosque hated members of other faiths."--article

If last Friday's prayers were not enough, maybe the not-so-subtle message of hate will happen at next Friday's prayers, when they discuss the Islamic doctrine of Al Wala Wal Bara, Love and Hate for Allah's sake, starting with the Quran's 60:4:

"There is a goodly pattern for you in Abraham and those with him, when they told their folk: Lo! we are guiltless of you and all that ye worship beside Allah. We have done with you. And there hath arisen between us and you hostility and hate for ever until ye believe in Allah only - save that which Abraham promised his father (when he said): I will ask forgiveness for thee, though I own nothing for thee from Allah - Our Lord! In Thee we put our trust, and unto Thee we turn repentant, and unto Thee is the journeying."

But then, who am I kidding? They know all of this...

Jew Lover- when I click on that link the page goes to a sort of mixed-up table that looks as if Christianity founded assasinations.

The table appears to be too wide.

Socialism and political correctness are the diseases rotting us from within and islam is the barbarians at the gates of Rome.

That is how the story of the fall of Western Civilization will be written after the end of the coming dark age. If that age ever ends that is, at least the Catholic Church survived the collapse of Rome as a civilizing institution, and the Byzantine Empire survived long enough to give us back classical knowledge.

"But until this issue was raised we didn't think people found the word insulting."

If you use it in front of me, you will discover just how insulting the word is. Warning: your learning process may be painful.

Saed Rageah made a "part 2" which can be accessed by linking from the first.
Quick run-down.
Says kuffar means "grain farmer". Tells his listeners about the great respects Islam has shown to Egyptian Copts.[They have thier own schools and churches]. Hindus under Muslim rule and of course the peace and harmony of Spain after Muslims invaded and ruled the country.

On a side note: I would like to thank Jihad Watch for not even bothering to respond to a request for help with a translation. I was under the understanding that the A.J. community was just that. A community that would a least have the decency to say "no, we are unable to help but here is a resource or source you might try".

So while this site is a good source of info there are others I will go to from now on.

Don't waste your time responding to this as I will not be reading it.

I will unsubscribe in about 30 seconds.

Blownaway, again.

I will anyway - "kuffar" does not mean "grain farmer".

"...only someone who did not understand Nazism would have come away from the Third Reich thinking that Nazis hated Jews."

What mendacity! Kafir does not mean "grain farmer" -- it actually literally means "ingrate"!
Ah, al-taqiyya...

Exactly. Doesn't sound too different from "...god damn America" does it?

Once again, strangely enough, there are no associated comments on yet another piece in the NP regarding Imam Rageah. The 21 Oct outing hate preacher Rageah and his response in the NP on the 23rd where he ends by saying:

“Politics are shaped by public opinion and public opinion is shaped by the media. Rather than leaving ignorance to fill the vacuum, Muslims must fully engage in Canadian society with wisdom and the best of speech, to foster mutual respect and understanding and shape an even better country.”

Here he echoes the recent comments by Prof Richard Moon and CHRC Commissar Jennifer Lynch by alluding that Canadians aren’t smart enough to have their own opinions, that we’re mostly retards who need the media to let us know what we think.

Moon accuses all HRC detractors of spin, when he himself engages in the very same exercise throughout his Op-Ed thesis. His most dastardly magnificent attempt is “In the end the debate about human rights commissions, like so much public debate, involves no real engagement between competing positions, and no real opportunity for the audience to judge whether or not the current law is good policy.” Got it? Debate is evil. Engagement by competing points of view in the public is just wrong. Wonder where he got that idea from…oh, that would be just like the trials, err I mean tribunals they hold in secret and without concern for the facts.

http://network.nationalpost.com/np/blogs/fullcomment/archive/2009/10/23/richard-moon-the-attack-on-human-rights-commissions.aspx

Jennifer Lynch in front of the Justice Committee on Monday said “clearly, the lay person (see the average Canadian) does not understand the meaning of hate because no Canadian need to fear the merely offensive expression will be prohibited.”

In one stroke she brands all Canadians (who need protection from the HRC in accordance with the parliamentary mandate) as to inept to recognize real hate, but don’t fear, you also don’t need to be fearful of what you say (because we won’t come after you because, after all, you’re to stupid to know what real hate is, because we set the rules on what true hate is, because we have a standard of ethics that are, err…, well you know, we have ‘em – they’re just not published, but trust the nanny, ‘cause you don’t know the difference.) Right.

With Public Servant wanks like Lynch, their supporters like Moon, and the beneficiaries of such doublespeak as Rageah, is it any wonder there are no comments in all three pieces in the NP? I’m certain the opinions must have been strong enough that no media would print them, lest they become accused of inciting what is really on the Canadian Public’s mind.

When Rageah says, “…no one group should try to trample the rights of others.” And that “…that kuffar could be seen as a neutral term…,” that “the word (Kuffar) is mentioned more than 500 times in the Koran and it would make no sense for Allah to have used a word repeatedly that was so offensive.” Therefore, seeing as such words describing Arabs and Muslims such as “Sand N____r,” or “Haji,” or specifically Somalies as “Flip-Flops” are mentioned more than 500 times everywhere else, it would make no sense to infer that they are offensive.

Ya Right. Go peddle your HRC protected hate somewhere else. You can call it religion, but it’s still hate speech. Thing is though, we “People of the Book” have thicker skin and are used to the likes of such hate messages by muslims, so we don’t go out and riot at the drop of a hat or even a rumour. Nor do our churches refer to other beliefs in derogatory terms or call upon our faith to destroy muslims. This is the true lesson Imams want to erase from the public debate, all under defamation of religion, because after all, we’re all just big misunderstanders.

And finally, in an exercise of fress speech, Iman Rageah is an Ass Hat. Feel free to go whine to the CHRC about that.
