Two men -- including a married father of two from Queens -- were hit with federal terrorism charges yesterday for trying to provide weapons, ammunition and vehicles to the Lebanese militant group Hezbollah, prosecutors said.Patrick Nayyar, 45, of Flushing -- who is being held without bail -- and his alleged accomplice, Conrad Mulholland, 43, who is still at large, were indicted in Manhattan for conspiring to provide material support to a terrorist organization.
The men are accused of supplying a Colt handgun, hollow-point bullets and a pickup truck to an FBI informant who said he worked for the terrorist organization, according to court papers.
In a series of meetings from July through September, the suspects allegedly made a deal to sell the informant additional guns, vehicles, bulletproof vests and night-vision goggles.
According to court papers, the weapons changed hands in Nayyar's mother's apartment, which is in his building.
On Aug. 3, Nayyar -- an illegal immigrant from India who was denied citizenship in 2006 for undisclosed reasons -- directed his mother to bring a gun from her bedroom to show the informant, who was wearing a wire.
The woman left the room and returned with a black handgun, according to court papers.
Nayyar -- a contractor who also worked as the super at his building -- handed the weapon to the informant, along with a box of ammunition that was marked "For Law Enforcement Use Only, Not for Retail Sale," the feds charge.
Two days later, the informant returned to the apartment and paid him $1,000.
Nayyar, who was picked up at his home on Sept. 24, was initially charged in Brooklyn federal court with a lesser count of illegal possession of a firearm and ammunition.
That charge was dismissed on Monday.
Yesterday, he was arraigned on the new charges in Manhattan federal court, pleading not guilty to five counts of providing material support to a terrorist organization, making contributions to Hezbollah and illegal possession of a weapon.
He faces 80 years in prison if convicted.
"I know he dealt with suspicious people, but he's not a terrorist," said Nayyar's mom, Sushila, 75, who was not charged in the case.
"He's a hard worker who was disturbed by the death of his father [in 2008]."...
Oh, well, that explains it.

That seems far-fetched, but it could of course explain the behavior. A Muslim who suffers a personal setback -- a death of a close and beloved relative, loss of a spouse or a girl, the failures of one's children, the decline in one's stock portfolio or bank account, a discovery that the drywall the contractor used was made in China and the house is rotting from within, a rise in one's LDL and a lowering in one's HDL, a low serotonin level, trouble with the old dopamine, simple depression brought on by god-knows-what -- all of these things can lead an Infidel to blame... well, to blame his uncomoprehending parents, his ungrateful children, uncaring siblings, The System, fate, the indifferent universe, and even, just possibly, at times....himself.
But a Musilm has been given a prism, early on, through which to view the universe. The prefabricated, off-the-shelf, ready-to-hate enemy is the Infidel. So when that Intel engineer, "Mike" Hawash, though by all outward and visible signs he is an American Success Story, goes into a funk about the world, and renews his interest in, his devotion to, Islam,and then after the 9/11 attacks is further disturbed, and then makes plans to go off to Afghanistan to kill American citizens (the phrase "fellow Americans" would be awkward here), we know that something in his mental makeup had caused him to be depressed, which led to his choosing to take his Islam straight up, and no longer on the rocks. And when that boy in Chapel Hiill, having graduated in December, and at loose ends as to what to do, like so many recent college graduates, decided -- though his parents were apparent exiles from Khomeini's Iran, that is not exactly as devout as he, their son, turned out to be) -- that killing Infidel students would be just the ticket, just the way to justify his life and deal a blow to the wicked Infidels (see his jail-cell notes, which have been put up at this website). Problem: Many people, all over the world, suffer all kinds of setbacks. But when Muslims suffer perceived setbacks (and part of being Muslim, living in the non-Muslim lands, is to perceive slights, is to sense injuries, is to have a sense of entitlement in a world where your obvious inferiors, that is Infidels, appear not to know their place nor understand what it is they owe you), they have the prism of Islam through which to view their situation, and to blame the Infidels, and to act accordingly.
The comment by the Indian Muslim's mother may be true or false, and if true, may help or not to explain his behavior. But if it does help to explain it, that is no consolation to Infidels, who cannot be expected to admit, much less welcome, into their midst those who, in the case of setbacks, real and imaginary, or in the case of even motiveless rather than situational depression, choose to take out their resentments and despair on Infidels.
We, being Infidels, have no need to accept such a situation by allowing still more Muslim immigrants into our midst. For such immigrants, the ones who take Islam seriously -- we can't bet our future wellbeing and our lives on the fact that in every ten thousand immigrants an occasional Ibn Warraq, Ayaan Hirsi Ali, Wafa Sultan will be found or will develop -- make our societies more unpleasant, expensive, and physically dangerous. We have a right not to exacerbate the situation for ourselves. We have the right not to endure that, for the sake of some unproven and baseless theory about how "diversity" of all kinds, and of any amount, is just swell. It isn't.

Is there a real Islamic connection here? It's an FBI sting. Is either Patrick Nayyar or Conrad Mulholland muslim or a Hezbollah supporter or are they just willing to sell to any bidder?
"making contributions to Hezbollah" could be actual support for Hezbollah, but given they charged $1000 for a handgun and bullets, it sounds more commercial.
Definitely dangerous immoral people, but I can't tell if it's jihad.

Let's be real. Hezbollah gets whatever it wants from Iran. Top notch Russian and Chinese military weapons. How in the world is the sale of some Saturday Night Special and aggrandized promises a news-worthy story?

Every news story I've ever heard about Muslims who get caught end just like this. Even the 9/11 highjackers parents.
