UK: Girl missing for ten years was victim of honor killing

After she lost her virginity she was viewed as a "valueless commodity." I have many times spoken about how Islam relegates women to the status of commodities, and here is proof. And of course the usual chorus of Islamic apologists will appear to assure us that honor killing has nothing to do with Islam and is a cultural practice followed by a wide variety of peoples -- and yet Muslim girls keep getting killed in disproportionate numbers. No one, of course, dares to confront the root of the problem by pointing out such inconvenient truths as the fact that a manual of Islamic law certified by Al-Azhar as a reliable guide to Sunni orthodoxy says that "retaliation is obligatory against anyone who kills a human being purely intentionally and without right." However, "not subject to retaliation" is "a father or mother (or their fathers or mothers) for killing their offspring, or offspring's offspring." ('Umdat al-Salik o1.1-2).

In other words, someone who kills his child incurs no legal penalty under Islamic law. In accord with this, in 2003 the Jordanian Parliament voted down on Islamic grounds a provision designed to stiffen penalties for honor killings. Al-Jazeera reported that "Islamists and conservatives said the laws violated religious traditions and would destroy families and values."

"Missing girl was victim of honour killing, claims mother," by Lucy Ballinger for the Daily Mail, October 8 (thanks to all who sent this in):

A mother broke a ten-year silence to claim her teenage daughter was murdered in an 'honour killing', a court heard yesterday.

Tulay Goren, 15, was allegedly killed by her father and buried in his garden after he learnt she was in a sexual relationship with a man twice her age.

Mehmet Goren, 49, with the help of at least one of his brothers, then allegedly dug up her remains in Woodford Green, East London, and disposed of them a week later. Her body has never been found.

Tulay's mother Hanim lived with the dark family secret and at first misled police because she was scared for her safety, said Jonathan Laidlaw, QC, prosecuting.

Tulay's father and his brothers Ali, 55, and Cuma Goren, 42, both of Walthamstow, East London, yesterday appeared at the Old Bailey accused of the schoolgirl's murder on January 7, 1999, and the attempted murder of her boyfriend Halil Unal, now 41. All three deny both charges.

Tulay was living with Mr Unal and had even tried to marry him, but was too young.

But after losing her virginity Tulay was seen as a 'valueless commodity', the court heard....

My guess is that the mother came forth only now because her husband had either left her or married a second wife. No one can deny the complicity of so many Muslim wives and mothers in the deaths of their daughters.

You will notice that this is one subject that Abdullah Mikhail will not comment on.

after losing her virginity Tulay was seen as a 'valueless commodity' if nothing else his alone should be used to ban immigration of muslims from country's were honor killing are common .a woman should never be seen as a commodity and her worth as a human should not be judged on whether a tiny very fragile piece of skin has been torn or not a torn hymen is not proof that a woman has been sexually active as it can be torn while exercising

My heart aches all the time for the muslim female who is born into slavery and condemned to death for trying to escape it. I pray that Rifqa Bary will know freedom in her life and be able to live as she wishes without worrying every day when death will come to fetch her.I wish I were very rich. I would create a haven for girls such as this to have a real chance at life. For whatever reason at least Tulay's mother is owning up and I pray that Tulay's soul can rest in peace now.

He normally has little to say of substance no matter where he posts.

Actually the "Slave of allah" has commented on honor killings - he denies they're Islamic.

Right. And there's human life on Neptune.

Islam is a truly anti-life belief system.(I strenuously oppose its being classified as a religion)
My wife and I have enjoyed 34 precious years of loving marriage, and four healthy, happy, successful and well-adjusted children.
Under islamic law, my wife would have been executed for not having been a virgin when we met. These disgusting people judge a woman not by what is in her heart and in her mind, but by the condition of a tiny piece of tissue which constitutes less than one one hundreth of one percent of her body mass.
These dreadful people are determined to replace our accepting, inclusive and democratic way of life with their misogynous stone age theocracy.
Sleepers awake!

This, along with so many other sad stories like it should be given not just to feminists, but all politicians, and their responses relayed to their constituents.

The majority of women in our society would be executed for not being virgins on their wedding day! I became a "valueless commodity" at age 9, due to sexual abuse at the hands of a stepbrother. I suspect many, many young girls in islamic nations also lose their virginity due to sexual abuse by family members (remember the Said sisters, abused by their father?) Guess that's okay, though, according to islamic "morality".

She was 15 and living with an older man. That, I believe, is a statutory story. So we have one guy doing a child and her father murdering her when he finds out. What a fine bunch of "the faithful".
