The West needs to secure Paki nuke sites against take over by the insurgents.
The Pakistanis need to defend their OWN nuke sites from insurgents. Let the Pakistani military do something more useful than attacking India. They have been playing a double game long enough.
If they want help from the West then let it be along the lines of the help given to Libya: relieve them of their nukes and make Pakistan a nuclear-free zone.
Well that explains the sudden "backbone" of the Pak military. Wouldn't be surprised if the Paks back off again and sign some "peace/power sharing agreement."
Sheik yer’mami, you’d be right except for the existing air cover. This is why:
I wouldn’t worry too much about the PAF getting these airframes. This kind of technology is already obsolete against the new generation of fighter. And if they don’t have the upgrades incorporated into them that the rest of NATO friendly nations have done to the same generation of same and other crafts, such as the F-18, the only thing they’ll have an edge on are ground troops, but certainly not any other western Air Force. I doubt they have the training, and getting hands on the new tech is expensive and very limited. Take it from this Canadian Air Force technician.
Guess it’ll make ‘em feel good, like the way a guy with performance issues buys a big shiny sports car to compensate.

They’ve already had three kicks at the Taliban (pussy)cat, and I guess their Monty-Pythonesque ‘run-away’ tactics are tried and true. Considering the corruption of their officers, the poor training and treatment of their non-com troops, and the Talib’s secret power share agreement with the ISI, I just don’t see this third world military having the discipline to clear out each and every mountainous enclave within their Borders. Pakistan hasn’t taken responsibility for that region since it became Pak(clean)istan, so why start now. I think you’re correct. I don’t think it’ll last as long as it takes to do the next corrupt run-off election in Afghanistan.
