Nidal Malik Hasan, who was killed during the shooting incident that left least 11 others dead and 31 wounded. The officials say they are still trying to confirm that he was the author. They say an official investigation was not opened....
"To say that this soldier committed suicide is inappropriate. Its more appropriate to say he is a brave hero that sacrificed his life for a more noble cause," said the Internet posting. "Scholars have paralled (sic) this to suicide bombers whose intention, by sacrificing their lives, is to help save Muslims by killing enemy soldiers."
How could military personnel fail to recognize that Hasan was a walking time bomb? What else are they missing?

He's in the army but his cousin says he's a good American who didn't even like going to the firing range.

This excellent security mode reminds me of Muslim Moussaoui who slipped through the FBI's fingers after he requested flying lessons for large commercial multi-engine planes in July 2001, "not landing, not take-off, just flying. I don't need that other stuff." (from an actual report to the FBI that was somehow overlooked by the bureau until after the 9/11 attacks.)
Wait, the government KNEW that this nut was in support of suicide bombings, and not only didn't bring him in for questioning, they were planning to deploy him to a war zone? *facepalm*

Please leave the posting up. This is a "teachable moment". Non-Muslims neophytes and first-time visitors to this site must be made aware that the terrorist actions of Maj. Hassan and those like him are NOT the work of a "tiny minority of extremists"...but in fact have significant support from within the Muslim community.
